Want a lot of privacy? Want to enjoy your vacation, away from it all? Need a bit more space for a larger party? Just want more or need more? This home is the perfect spot for your vacation.
Please note we now accept up to two pets. There is an additional $250 deposit and a $250 pet fee.
The main home is 4 bedrooms with 3 full baths and 2 half baths. The 'teen room' is separate from the main home, tucked under the main house, with its own air conditioning, a 1/2 bath and its own views, mainly to the west. Tastefully decorated and with twin beds, it is the place for teens, for a private couple, or for those who do not wish to come upstairs and join in the main festive occasion.
Come upstairs to the 'main house' with a large great room. Panoramic 180 degree views are the show piece of this room, with views to the east. A large, well equipped kitchen, a dining area with seating for 8 at the dining table and six additional stools at the breakfast bar makes this the place to have that dinner party for your family vacation or your company retreat. This living space also contains a large leather sofa with chaise lounge and matching easy chair. A large flat screen TV with satellite reception is here also, with viewing from anywhere in the room, if you desire.
You may not want to turn on the TV with the stunning views from the entire east wall windows, looking out on the natural beauty of Cedar Key's barrier islands. Step out onto the deck, with serving bar for entertaining, and soak up the majesty of the birds, the wild life the sunrises, the beauty of nature. We have chaise lounges for those who prefer to stay outside, several occasional chairs and four stools. You may just stay there the entire time of your stay. The deck is partially covered for those sunny days or the occasional afternoon shower, but is open to the sea breezes you will come to love and enjoy.
Look out onto waters from the house or come back down and climb onto your boat at the newly refurbished dock with boat house. Come and go with the tides. You can launch at the county boat ramp at #4 Bridge and bring the boat around for your fishing pleasure. Perfect for kayaking, the Cedar Key waters are sheltered shallow tidal estuaries, teeming with bird life, fish and some aquatic mammals. Don't want to bring a boat, just want to fish? You can do just that from the dock, put out a couple of crab traps and have tonight's dinner fresh.
Come back upstairs and get ready to relax in your luxurious space for the evening. One bedroom has a king bed, each of the other two bedrooms has a queen bed, full linens, and for those gentle night time dreams, an attractive quiet ceiling fan to stir the breezes. Each also has its own private bath with step in stone showers.
Now, for the surprise! We have a full 'mini-suite', complete with wet bar, a mini fridge and its own private deck. Completely separate, the pod is available to rent with the main house, giving you a 5th bedroom and bath if you like.
The 2nd master suite is its own mini vacation spot, with dining table, leather sofa, flat screen TV, private deck and a full bath, including stone step in shower. Available only with the main house, you can be assured of your privacy, and join the main group when you want.
Back to the main house, we need to point out the 1/2 bath off the great room, perfect for the entertaining part of your vacation.
The house is fully equipped, dishes, pot and pans, full linens, paper products and washer and dryer. We have stainless steel appliance, including microwave, three door refrigerator, cook top and double wall ovens, and dishwasher. Of course there is a coffee pot, toaster, and utensils, in short, you have everything you need, bring only the groceries.
Bring your cell phone if you must, check with your provider on how to make it a hot spot and you can stay in touch, if need be. Wifi is available at Kona Joe's, Ada Blue Cafe or Annie's Cafe and as you have your breakfast, then you too can use the excuse, 'oh sorry, I didn't have service'. The Cedar Key Public Library also offers wifi.
Dining in Cedar key is as varied as the wild life. From 'down home' Cracker style dining to elegant cloth tablecloths and polished silver, Cedar Key offers you a wealth of choices. We'll be happy to share our favorite dishes and recommendations at each of the many restaurants, from clam chowder at Tony's, to clams casino at the Island Room to steamed clams in garlic butter at the Island Hotel, the all you can eat seafood at Seabreeze, fried shrimp at Robinson's, crab stuffed portabello at Steamers, oysters or clams on the half shell at Brian's Big Deck or white pizza at Blue Desert Cafe. Cedar Key now has a doughnut shop, Holey Moley, on 2nd Street, also serving sandwiches and lunch specials. Want it a bit easier? Cedar Key Pizza and Island Pizzeria are just a phone call away AND The Market has subs and pizzas to go. Let's not forget ice cream cones at Island Trading Post. Private island get away. Come to Cedar Key, open the gate, drive across the wooden bridge and leave the world behind. This is the place to get away from it all.
Thank you thank you thank you for helping us with our stay at Cedar Key this past weekend! It was WONDERFUL!! So relaxing...none of us were ready to leave!! I appreciate how easy you made things for me and the extra touches of wine, cheese and breakfast items were so thoughtful!! We definitely hope to come back again!!
We spent a week in the home with family and friends and had a great time. The house is perfect for large groups.
Absolutely loved the home and the private island. Home was very comfortable for 9 women with the pod. The view was amazing. The large family room and dining room off the kitchen kept everyone involved while we were cooking. The beds were comfy. Well stocked kitchen except there were not enough coffee mugs and the coffee pot was small- 5 cups. If you plan of renting in Sept. bring bug spray. The only small negative was that there was no DVD player for the movies we brought. Jennie Pinto, the realtor, was very helpful and quick to respond to any of our needs.
I would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Cedar Key. One other note: if you plan on cooking meals, stop and stock up on groceries prior to arriving on Cedar Key. There is only one local small grocery store with a very limited selection of produce.
The Cedar Cay house is beautiful, and the perfect seaside getaway spot for a group-- couples or a family. The house is more than spacious, with the bedrooms all set up with en suite bathrooms. A kitchen that any chef would drool over opens up onto a large living area perfect for socializing, and the wrap-around veranda makes watching the sunset a dream. The property manager was more than helpful, answering our many questions, accommodating couples from several different locations, and even stocking items that we enquired about in the kitchen (for preparing our Thanksgiving meal). Highly recommend this great, and private, home.
We rented the property for a 50th birthday celebration with a total of 8 people. We had people from Scotland, Atlanta, Chicago and Tampa Bay and the house could not have been more perfect!! The kitchen is big enough to accommodate everyone hanging out and helping and then sitting at the huge table and enjoying the food and company. The deck is partly covered so when the weather is not so great there is shelter from the rain. The views are amazing and the privacy is unbelievable. Jennie was incredible and so very accommodating and helpful. The bedrooms are large, bright and airy and each has a great bathroom (the master bath shower being the highlight) and plenty of storage in the closets and dressers. Everyone was so impressed with the property and we absolutely plan on visiting again. Jennie, thank you for a perfect stay!!! I cannot recommend this property high enough.
We had the most wonderful 7-day visit that was a combination of a great house, secluded setting and lovely town's people made all the better by Jennie P. who is the really nice and helpful local property manager. The house was most comfortable and well appointed perched up in the tree line enabling magnificent views in all directions. Being situated on its own island and among the many other islands that comprise Cedar Key, the setting was like stepping back 40-years in time to "old Florida" in all of its rugged natural beauty. To the extent that one wishes to venture out in to the town, most of the essentials can be found from good restaurants, a grocery store, bank and hardware store. We had a particularly enjoyable airboat tour to see where the clam leases are staked-out, learn about the aqua-culture, the waterfowl and wildlife that all of which was again made all the better by knowledgeable and really nice operators, Captain Josh and his father, Captain Bruce W. of Flying Fish Airboat Tours and Adventures. Other notable local people that were so genuinely lovely worked at Robinson Seafood, Island Room Restaurant and Nature Coast Realty. We found here the solitude and quiet comforts that we were seeking! It was perfect for my wife and self, our two young adult children that visited at times from Manhattan and Ocala and relatives from Macon.
We had a wonderful stay at this amazing retreat in late October. It perfectly accommodated our extended family for my dad's birthday weekend.
The house was clean, new and had everything we could want or need. I loved the large sectional sofa in the family room that could fit our whole group as we gathered in the evening to share our day.
We cooked several meals in the well appointed kitchen and the large table was perfect for dining. The tile work in the bathrooms was so luxurious that it made you feel like you were in a 5-star hotel.
We also loved the huge deck and dock at the house. I never realized you could see a sunrise over the water on the West Coast of FL, but it was incredible to see from the house.
I've already recommended the house to several people and hope to visit it again one day!
Cedar Key is a laid back dream. Come for the fishing, the bird watching, the boating, and the dining. The private location of this home allows you to spend quality time. We have many restaurants, some night life, multitudes of birds, hundreds of species of fish, oysters, clams, stone crabs and blue crabs. Many of these can be enjoyed right from your private dock.
