Tom and I were married in 1991, he has grown up here. I am from northern Pa. Tom comes from a wonderful family, just 14 brothers and sisters. We settled up the road a little to raise our family. We needed more space, so we purchased this property to build the pole barn on and the cottage was an added bonus. After long renting for many years, we decided it maybe better to try short term renting. As I am very particular with the cleanliness of this place. It is well sanitized after each use, you can rest assure of that.
Julie Enck purchased this cottage in 1995
This area is surrounded by many things that we value so much in our day to day life. Quite country living, with great neighbors, that are scattered around us and these beautiful breathtaking views. We are privileged to take in and we appreciate all around us everyday. But still not to far from all that Lancaster County has to offer. From theater, great schools, to great shopping, community activities, outdoor life , many churches, golfing, many restaurants over a 100 brewers and so much more. We love it here. and we're sure you will too! So come and see for yourself we'll leave the door open for you. :-)
In just a short 10 min. drive , you'll be in the town of Strasburg. Stop and enjoy your favorite flavor ice cream at the famous Creamery and watch the buggies go by. While in town you can walk to many unique shops . Then take a ride on the railroad , have dinner in the dining car and enjoy the beautiful scenery all around us. Maybe even see Thomas if he is in town.
From there go on up 5 miles to the outlets , see a show at sight and sound lots of shopping at the outlets, or travel a little bit further to unique shops in intercourse, check out the antiques, try one of the many Smorgashbords available, many restaurants. Go into market on Tuesday, Friday and Sat. Take the kids to Dutch wonderland , or Hershey Park is about 50 min. drive for a day of adventure. Maybe take in a baseball game at the Barnstormer stadium, check for what games they have fireworks. You can travel on up for a day in Gettysburg, a nice drive up route 30, or down to Washington DC.(2 1/2 hrs), or maybe Philadelphia(1 1/2). You won't be bored unless you want to be. Hope to see you soon.
We went to see a Sight and Sound play and wanted to get away. This place is an ideal place to stay. Nice and quiet. No issues!
Very tastefully decorated. Great game room downstairs. Relatively close to Lancaster (23 minutes). Good communication with owner. Would recommend to others.
We felt right at home in this clean, nicely decorated home nestled in the heart of Lancaster county. The beds were comfortable, sheets were clean, everything was so comfortable with plenty of sitting space both downstairs and upstairs for the five of us enjoying a girls' getaway for the weekend. We only wished we had had more time to take walks and take in the beautiful scenery! The only disappointment was not being able to taste the food that other reviews had raved about from the Amish neighbor. Maybe next time! Thank you to the owners who do a fantastic job creating a space that felt like home away from home.
We stayed here for a week in August of 2015 and it was great. Very clean, had everything we needed. The games in the basement were a huge bonus for the kids and the neighbor boys were adorably peeking at us through the trees aligning the left side of the property. Beautiful secluded back yard looking at a cornfield was a great place to hang out with a beer at the end of the day. Great, quiet location close enough to everything from Hershey to Gettysburg. I would highly recommend the proper to anyone.
The cottage was absolutely charming and beautiful inside and out. Very clean and immaculate. We really enjoyed staying in the heart of Amish Country, surrounded by Amish farmland and neighbors. We also enjoyed being able to watch the buggies and school children pass by the house. Overall a great place to stay. The only negative we found was that the grill was too dirty to cook on and did not appear to work. We had a very enjoyable family vacation, and look forward to returning soon!
Very peaceful setting, but close enough to all the activities. The cottage has everything you need. We enjoyed the game room in the basement, very relaxing.
