This is 'Old Florida' at its finest. Located on 2.3 acres on the St Johns River in Colee Cove. The house sleeps six with a pull out couch in the living area.
August 2014, we just competed a major renovation of the house by replacing all the floors with Tile and hardwood.
Two bedrooms each en suite with bathrooms and queen size beds. This is the original house on the property that was built in 1948 and moved and remodeled in 2000.
If quiet and quant is your objective-then you have found it!! The house has a porch with a view of the river and a front porch that lies under the oaks.
All the amenities exist in the house. Full kitchen, Cable TV-HD, Wi-Fi, Washer and Dryer, Grill and Smoker.
You have full access to our dock which has deep water access at 6' and full hookups. The upstairs is an enclosed screen area that boosts the most spectacular sunsets.
For the fisherman, we have a unique fishing environment with both fresh and salt species. On the fresh side-Largemouth Bass, Bream and Specs. Salt-redfish, flounder, stripped bass.
Ospreys, manatees, eagles and alligators are among the many different types of wildlife that can be spotted at various times of the year.
I always tell our guest that the house is setup just how I would want it if I was on vacation. Clean, comfortable beds, fast internet, excellent cable, charcoal grill and all that you will need in the kitchen.
Come experience what we call our daily paradise!
As 3rd generation Floridian, my family has own property in Colee Cove since 1946. We have lived next door for 15 years and as the family grew so did our need for a larger home.
In 2008 I obtained a Captains license and have preformed guided fishing trips on the St Johns river.
Our family respects, loves and uses the river at every possible opportunity.
Buddy Henley purchased this house in 2013
Quiet, unique, beautiful, and rare experience in a part of Florida that some never knew existed.
Sunsets to the west are unbelievable. If you love to fish, then this is it! It is not every day that you can sit under 300 year old oak trees and be so close to the oldest city in America.
All I can say is wow. We stayed with our kids for a week and felt as if we were at home in Indiana. The property is beautiful along the river. This was our first time in the St Augustine area and we plan to return again.
I would highly recommend this property.
Buddy and Amy are the ultimate hosts. Their place is turn key. All you need is a suitcase and plan on having fun. Close to slot of great entertsinment. Meg and I will certainly be back.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at The Henley's Guesthouse. Wonderful family that went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The grounds are amazing with the tall oaks. Everything is so well-maintained.
It is a quiet area away from traffic. Driving to St. Augustine was not a problem as the roads are country roads until you reach the city limits.
It is a great place to use as your base for exploring surrounding areas.
Thank you for making us feel at home.
Immaculate cottage, beautiful landscaping, comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchen, everything you could imagine needing and then some. Walked down to the dock to enjoy the awesome sunsets every evening. Great neighborhood, very pet friendly property- The most amazing hosts you could imagine.
My family and I relocated to Florida recently and stayed at this beautiful home located along the river for almost 2 months. We absolutely loved the home and the location. The Henley Family opened their arms to us and treated us like family from the start. They helped make this transition easy on my family. Buddy helped with any paperwork we needed to get my son into school and went out of his way for strangers to make our complicated move as stress free as possible. Staying at this home was the best part of our journey and we are truly grateful for meeting such a wonderful family.
The cottage we stayed in was perfect, had everything we could think to make a short or long stay comfortable. The pictures do not do the home or the surrounding grounds justice, it’s something you must see for yourself! Everything in the home is very clean and very well taken care of. There is plenty of room with all the beds and two full bathrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking or entertaining and has everything you could want so you don’t have to bring much of anything. The front and back porch were perfect for relaxing and even seeing all the stars at night. The dock is amazing as well with unbelievable sunsets and a cool retreat upper level covered dock that is equipped for relaxing and entertaining.
We have recommended this get away for everyone who plans on visiting the St. Johns/St. Augustine area. The location is prefect for mini trips around the area and Buddy has great advise on what to do and where to go for all types of trips or eatery locations. This home is perfect for any type of get away! It is also perfect for a family retreat with children and pets.
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Henley House. There was ample space for all of us to sleep. The house was very clean and equipped with anything we would need in the kitchen and bathrooms. The boat house had an upper level with fantastic views of the cove which we enjoyed daily. It was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Thanks again Buddy & Amy.
We brought the crew to the Henley Guest House -- mom, dad, four kids and the family dog. Despite a rough arrival (we had car troubles along the way), the vacation vibe hit the minute we pulled into the driveway. The house is so sweet -- great porches, nestled under a canopy of ancient oaks, comfortable decor with many charming touches. Buddy himself greeted us and gave us few tips on dining spots and the property that made us feel right at home. When we walked in, my daughter remarked about how clean the house smelled, which is a testament to the owner's attention to detail given the age of the home and the proximity to the water. The linens were all crisp and clean as well and the kitchen was well-stocked. The area was a perfect launching spot for day adventures -- Old Town St. Augustine, tubing on the Ichetucknee River were our high points. Taking a few moments to relax in the elevated boathouse overlooking the St. Johns is also a must. The sunsets are gorgeous. We loved the set up of the second and third bedrooms, where our kids slept. We hope to come back during a cooler weather time when we could open the house up and really live on the great porches there. Thanks again for the hospitality on your charming property.

Old Florida at it's finest. Majestic oaks along the banks of the St Johns River. Located 5 miles south west of the World Golf Village in a quiet residential rural setting. All the amenities and needs are 10 minutes away with downtown St. Augustine only 16 miles due east.
