About Bill Burns

The owners, Bill and Molly bought their first triplex on Calle Miramar in '89. They've lived on Siesta Key ever since then and are very familiar with all that Sarasota has to offer.

Bill Burns purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Bill Burns chose Siesta Key

The Siesta Key Blue Cottage is the second property we've owned on Calle Miramar. It's a sought after location just 1/2 block to both the Beach and the Village. Built in 1949, it has withstood the test of time and is one of the few remaining examples on Siesta Key of the Florida Bungalow.

What makes this cottage unique

Unique benefits to this property are it is a ground floor, one floor housing unit. No flights of stairs to haul your bags up. An easy walk with a chair and beach towel gets you to the quieter end of Siesta Beach without trying to find parking! And it's a short walk, not a drive or ride, into Siesta Village where you have many restaurants to choose from. Location, location, location.

Our home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in April 2016 and fell in love with the place! My husband & I like to stay on our daily schedule by having coffee & breakfast outside, weather permitting in MI. Bill has a wonderful patio area furnished so that we can enjoy that every morning. Also great for martinis in the evening.🍸󮀠We park our car and walk everywhere, into town or to the beach everyday. We were looking for another 'runaway from home' vacation again in November and decided to go back a 2nd time this year. It is a very nice & clean place to stay. I teased Bill in the spring that I didn't want to write a good review because then everyone would want to stay here and would no longer be available for us!

We look forward to our next stay!

A perfect getaway experience

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I came to the "Blue Cottage" from 11/9 - 11/20, 2016 to experience her 40th BD in a warmer climate than that of Minneapolis, MN,. I had never been to Siesta Key but was drawn to the pictures, inside and out of the "Blue Cottage" on VRBO. My daughter and I drove from MN via an overnight in Macon,GA to the Key and arrived at night. We were tired, weary of road travel and the Cottage welcomed us in. I loved the wooden gate that you pass through and close behind you to "shut out the world". The pictures on VRBO were accurate. The description of what the Cottage contains for comfort and convenience was also accurate. No disappointments, only so much more. The location of the Cottage was perfect. The Village is a 1/2,block with the BEST food market. My daughter and I enjoy cooking and quiet evenings and the selection and quality at the market supplied our needs. i rented a bike for the week from a shop in the village right down from the Cottage. The rate was very fair and I enjoyed my morning rides exploring the rest of the Key. The beach was amazing, soft and cool white sand as far as the eye can see. Gentle rolling, aquamarine waves. Perfect for children of ALL ages to enjoy. It was interesting to watch the "early" folks leave the area between 3:30/4::30 and see another group arrive with chairs and blankets to watch the sunset. A truly lovely way to end ones refreshing, renewing time at the beach. I could go on and on about the area i.e. The Ringling, Venice... but it is more important to say, "COME", have an experience of a lifetime at the "Blue Cottage". It was a most memorable adventure. Thank you.

Location Location Location!

The Siesta Key Blue Cottage was everything I had hoped for. Beginning with a responsive and very nice owner Bill to the beach amenities it was exactly what I was looking for. The cottage has a couple of quirky rooms with a one or two step difference in level, but, it did not detract from our stay in any way. The cottage is above all CLEAN and in a perfect location to be able to walk to both the beach and the village, even for my husband who has had 2 hip replacements and can't go for any distances. The beach cart provided along with chairs, umbrella, coolers, etc. was spot on and we used it every single day. The back yard is so serene with comfy furniture. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The Blue Cottage was exactly what we needed for our stay. It's so close to the beach and restaurants so we didn't have to drive. The bed was so comfortable it was difficult to get up in the mornings. Bill and Molly are so nice and accommodating. We are looking forward to another visit in beautiful Siesta Key Blue Cottage.
