About Bill Burns

The owners, Bill and Molly bought their first triplex on Calle Miramar in '89. They've lived on Siesta Key ever since then and are very familiar with all that Sarasota has to offer.

Bill Burns purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Bill Burns chose Siesta Key

The Siesta Key Blue Cottage is the second property we've owned on Calle Miramar. It's a sought after location just 1/2 block to both the Beach and the Village. Built in 1949, it has withstood the test of time and is one of the few remaining examples on Siesta Key of the Florida Bungalow.

What makes this cottage unique

Unique benefits to this property are it is a ground floor, one floor housing unit. No flights of stairs to haul your bags up. An easy walk with a chair and beach towel gets you to the quieter end of Siesta Beach without trying to find parking! And it's a short walk, not a drive or ride, into Siesta Village where you have many restaurants to choose from. Location, location, location.

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The Blue Cottage was exactly what we needed for our stay. It's so close to the beach and restaurants so we didn't have to drive. The bed was so comfortable it was difficult to get up in the mornings. Bill and Molly are so nice and accommodating. We are looking forward to another visit in beautiful Siesta Key Blue Cottage.

You couldn't ask for a better cottage to stay in on your visit to Siesta Key. Bill makes the home feel like you've entered someplace special and the attention to detail is remarkable. There is nothing you can think of...that they haven't thought of first. From beach accessories/needs, to kitchen items to bathroom supplies...they've taken care of it all.

I no longer like to stay in hotels as, you never know the cleanliness of them. You don't have to worry about that at "blue cottage". Everything was spotless, glasses were clean, dishes and utensils, pots and pans....amazing!

The bed was super comfortable, plenty of linens provided for. The location is perfect! Just off the main village, and a couple of blocks to the beach at access 5...you can't go wrong.

We would stay here again...except, we are moving here....which, was another area Bill was extremely helpful with..and still continues. He's a gem! We will for sure have our overflow guests stay in this fantastic cottage. Btw..even though you are connected to another side with guests staying there...you would never know.

Stay here....if you can get a reservation!!!!!

Thanks Bill for an incredible stay!!!!

Beautiful and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been coming to siesta key for the past five years and always stay in a place from home away, but this was our first time staying at this cottage. It is beautiful and spacious and the location is perfect. The village and the beach are both within walking distance and only take a few minutes to walk to. Bill had everything we needed and more. He was extremely friendly and made sure we knew we could contact him if we needed anything. We loved this place and will definitely be back soon!

Great Owners!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late, after midnight to the cottage to find it lit up and waiting for us after a long day of travel. We quickly unpacked the few things that we needed to start our first nights sleep. The next morning we awoke to a beautiful cottage, well maintained, and well equipped for the beach goer. We were down on business and we had one day of play on our first day, so we did. We were ready to go buy/rent beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers so spend our one and only day at the beach and we didn't need to because it was all at the cottage for our use. AND they had sunscreen already there as well. The cottage was quite large for a one bedroom and it had a full extra bathroom with a shower. So rather than my wife and I share one bathroom, I gave her the bathroom off of the bedroom and I went down the hall and used the other one, it was great! We did have one glitch....the a/c went out while we were there. But, that kind of thing will happen anytime/anywhere, it just does. What matters most is that the owners jumped on it and got it fixed within a few hours. We had been gone all day and when we arrived to the cottage is when we realized that it had gone out while we were away. Keep in mind that the problem was not realized until after hours....doesn't matter, the owners jumped on the problem and got it taken care of right then. That is what will keep folks coming back and if we do return to Siesta Key and this cottage is available, we won't be looking anywhere else. Great place, great location (we walked to the restaurants and to the beach), great owners.

Perfect location, perfect cottage.

The Siesta Key Blue Cottage was everything we could have hoped for. The attention to detail in the renovations and decorations is very obvious...the prints on the walls, the very nice bath towels, the crisp sheets, and even the VERY sharp kitchen knives--be careful ;-) The privacy gate was an especially nice feature since we brought our bicycles with us and we were able to keep them locked up and out of sight when we weren't using them. The bed was very comfortable and the outdoor seating area was also first class. We made use of the whole place and even had friends over for dinner who live in Sarasota. It's nice to be on vacation in a place that is so pleasant and with enough space that you don't feel like you have to get out to breathe. We enjoyed the cottage AND we enjoyed the fabulous location within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants of the village and to the beach. We parked our car when we got there and didn't have to get in it again until it was time to leave. That's they way I like to va-cay.

Thanks again Bill.
