Perfect gathering place

  • 5 of 5

The property is wonderfully situated and perfect for a larger family gathering. It was the perfect place for my 50th birthday celebrations. The facilities are excellent and everything works - apart from the blunt knives (the only incredibly minor gripe). It's clean and well stocked with everything you need. The owner is very pleasant and answers emails promptly and courteously. It will certainly be top of my list next time I'm organising a family gathering.

Huge house with plenty of space!

  • 5 of 5

This house really was very welcoming and cosy, set in lovely grounds with incredible views across fields and mountains in the distance. It has fantastic space and could easily accommodate 10 people of various ages. The fixtures and fittings are to quite high standards and the house was very clean, with all you could possibly need. A huge master bedroom suit that allows you some time to yourself, where you can relax in the wonderful jacuzzi bath! As a family of 4 holidaying before xmas and looking for snow, we found this house great and it was a chance to get away from it all.

We made visits to Aviemore regularly, Inverness by train and the Highland Wildlife Park, although we did find the wildlife rather disappointing (maybe due to the snow).

I had regular contact with the owner who answered my queries and then the agents looking after the house were on hand should I have any problems during our stay. I would love to visit the house again with more family and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Great value for money too. We will be back to Balgowan House in the near future, thank you.

Clean, spacious and brilliant location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week and loved the house and location. The house was practically brand new, clean, tidy and massive. The adults enjoyed the jacuzzi and the kids loved all the animals you can see from the sun room: horses, sheep, grouse, chickens and rabbits.

The location was brilliant, it was ideally set so that you really felt you'd "got away from it all" without feeling remote. The nearest town Newtonmore was approx. 15mins away with Kingussie a couple of mins further. Kingussie has a great butchers called Gows and the meat from there was far superior to your local supermarket. I would definitely recommend it.

The best bit about the house has to be the sun room. We spent a lot of time in there for eating and just lounging about.

We found the neighbours were really friendly as well as we'd go to see their chickens, cows and sheep with the kids.

I'll be recommending Balgowan House to the guys at work.

great place for active or relaxing family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week in the Easter holidays, glorious weather too This is a fabulous house, so spacious! Livied up to it's decriptions, clean, well maintained, easy to find, very warm, ample baths/showers, wonderful views.Garden great for easter egg hunt.

We were able to easily cater for 9 for a week, didn't eat out, although table a bit cosy. Ample shops nearby for all we needed. If you like to come back to a meal take a slow cooker, if not plenty of pots & pans and generous sized cooker make cooking a pleasure in this kitchen. Only thing I wish had taken was some sharp knives.

Pheasants in the garden, rabbits, partridge & deer in field, take your binoculars. Children loved watching the horses nearby and pool & table tennis in the games room.

Was great to be able to put all 9 bikes in the garage the one day we did not use them. Great location for adventurous walking & cycling in Caingorm National Park. Wolftrax a must for the adrenalin seeking mountain biker!.

Would definately recommend this property, sure we will go back.
