Overview

About the property

Large light and airy barn in tranquil location with free parking and wifi.

Recently converted with the aim of providing somewhere cosy and comfortable, stylish and chic to stay - the kind of place we like to stay in ourselves! By using contemporary greys and whites and adding an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture with hand picked accessories we've created somewhere rather special. The bed is decked with five star bedlinen: Egyptian cotton sheets, goose-down duvet and feather pillows. It's designed to be romantic, fresh and welcoming. Across the courtyard from the barn is our family home - an 18th century farmhouse - no longer a working farm, but full of character nevertheless. We love it here and hope you will too!

About Jilly

We were both born here! Despite travelling with our jobs in earlier years we returned to Bath when we got married and brought up our family here. We started a company together in the 1980's and ran it for many years from the farm which has adapted to our needs over the years. We feel very blessed to live here.

Jilly purchased this barn in 1991

Why Jilly chose Bath

We fell in love with this place the moment we saw it! For years we drove past it on the way to our sons school. It was rather neglected in those years but still way beyond our reach financially! But our business began to grow and one day we saw the farm was up for sale. Despite some nail-biting moments we managed to secure it and have spent the last 20 years here. It's an ongoing project and we love it!

What makes this barn unique

We are so close to the vibrant city centre yet can be back in the calm surroundings of the farmhouse in a matter of minutes.

The farm still has its old bread oven in the sitting room, a natural spring in the garden, and beautiful mature trees around. It really is very special place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Little Owl Barn. On our arrival we received a warm welcome form Jilly and Paul and the accommodation is perfect. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. It's an easy walk in to Bath with plenty of restaurants, good shopping and lots of things to do. I am sure we will visit again

Beautiful, quaint little barn

  • 5 of 5

Barn was spotless, everything you needed from towels to milk in the fridge. Had a 3night stay and loved it! Great location, about 15minute walk into Bath City. Widcombe about a 5/10min walk away. Thankyou to Jilly for helping with any question we asked, very friendly x

A beautiful barn on the outskirts of Bath!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights in Little Owl Barn and we had a wonderful stay! The barn is beautifully decorated (exactly to our taste) and is very well equipped with everything you could possibly require. We only ate breakfast there as we wanted to experience the lovely bars & restaurants nearby. We were very comfortable and the bed was a delight to sleep in. We arrived in heavy snowfall which made the barn and the surrounding area look so pretty. We would have no hesitation in coming back sometime and will definitely recommend it to our friends & family. A fab stay at a lovely cottage!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely stay! The cottage was everything we could have hoped for - everything was clean, the house was well equipped, bed comfortable and somewhere that felt like a home from home. Jilly was more than helpful with booking and even leaving us the basics such as tea and milk! Another useful thing was the suggested shops, pubs and restaurants which proved very helpful, we even added one to the list.

Overall I would highly recommend the property for anyone wanting to stay in Bath, it was perfect distance from the city and was a lovely walk. Many thanks to Jilly.

Lovely Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were in awe of the barn as soon as we walked in. The rooms were beautifully decorated and it had a very warm and cosy feel. The location was great for walking into Bath town or to Bath Spa train station. All within 10-15mins walk. The owners were lovely in leaving us some milk and cookies for when we first got there so we could have a cup of tea after our long journey. The bed is SO comfy! We slept in most days because it was so nice. The staircase is beautiful, it’s such a lovely feature in the barn. I would fully recommend staying here to anyone :)

Lovely accommodation in great location

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Little Owl barn. It is a beautifully restored building in a great, quiet location within walking distance of central Bath. Jilly and Paul were wonderful hosts; very responsive to all of our enquiries, letting us drop off our car and luggage when we arrived early, and checking in on us during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Look forward to our next stay when we are in the area again.

The City of Bath is a World Heritage site, as famous for its Roman Baths as its stunning Georgian architecture. Add to that its festivals, museums, markets, theatres, shops and restaurants and you have a rather special place. Little Owl Barn is in a tranquil conservation valley just minutes from the lively heart of the city. It is also ideally situated for visiting so many other interesting and historic places in the West Country: Wells, Glastonbury, the Cotswolds, Oxford, London, Castle Combe, Lacock, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Highbridge, and the Cheddar Gorge to name but a few.
