This adorable cabin in the woods is the perfect get away location for your family and/or a group of friends. There is enough room to sleep 8 comfortably in two private bedrooms with queen beds, 2 in a comfy full size futon in the living room and 2 in a full futon downstairs, or more if your party would like to use 2 air mattress and/or sleeping bags in the large sized windowed basement with attached ½ bath and dressing area.
Whether your party is large or small, you will find ample room in this fully equipped and nicely furnished cabin that is nestled in the foothills of the Northern Rockies, between Bigfork and Glacier National Park. After enjoying a day of fishing or recreating at the lake or river, a day at the magnificent Glacier National Park, or skiing/hiking, your party will enjoy unwinding on the covered back porch with a favorite drink or with a fun game on the tree shaded grassy yard at this very private forested location.
The location of this cabin is one that is removed from the hustle and bustle, yet central to all that the Flathead Valley has to offer. It is set back into the woods of the foothills and very private with ample space to romp and roam.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. More space than we needed, comfortable, well stocked with not only the basic paper and cleaning products but many spices/seasonings and other 'basics' for cooking our meals. The back porch was great for evening meals, wifi was handy but primarily used for keeping up with e-mail and sorting out attractions/things to do. We spent some time in Kalispel, were fortunate to be there on a rainy day to enjoy the Art Fair in the park and discovered that the potter from whom we bought gifts for family was actually right across the road. Be sure to check out his 'seconds' table for outstanding bargins.
Although we did have a drive to get to Glacier, we enjoyed stopping along the way for local huckleberries and the best sweet cherries we have ever tasted. Didn't have time to check out the hiking in nearby Jewell Basin as we spent too much time seeing the sights in the national park.
Would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone planning a trip to the Glacier National Park area who would also appreciate experiencing the surrounding mountain valley.
We have used home away in the past and have love what we found. This cabin is over priced. My family and I felt like we were staying at a forest service cabin but paying 10x the price for it. The sheets were stained, wifi connection was spotty, there was only 1 roll of tp provided for the whole weekend, and the garbage can was overflowing outside so we had to carry most of our garbage home with us. The back yard was the best part of this cabin.
The cabin exceeded my expectation in comfort: nice beds, cozy living room, dining area, and a well equipped kitchen. The basement provided other options for sleeping. We enjoyed the use of the small grill and dinner on the covered back porch that looked unto a wooded yard. The cabin is in a rural area, with neighbors, but secluded down a long driveway and surrounded by woods. A doe and fawn greeted us in the morning. Hiking and Echo Lake are nearby. The Echo Lake cafe is a must for breakfast. Glacier National Park was a 40 minute drive, and Bigfork/Flathead Lake were 20 minutes away. The state park on Flathead Lake in Bigfork is a great place for a picnic, swimming, boating, or sunsets. I was sad that I could not spend more time in the area, with this nice home to come back to at the end of the day.
It was the perfect place to stay- though we would have been even happier had it been a little closer to the park...the cabin was a great size, everything we needed was there, kept cool in the heat, LOVED the back porch- maybe more comfortable chairs on the porch would be great.. loved the books on Lewis and Clark and the park..
We spent a great week in this lovely cabin. I would even venture to say it was well worth the road trip from Wisconsin! We choose this location to spend time with our adult children, son in law, and boyfriend. We spent most of our time on the back porch, eating, playing games, and generally being silly. The accommodations were lovely, and the cabin had everything we needed. We saw deer most evenings, met the neighborhood potter, and tubed twice down the Swan River. We did some long Glacier hikes, which were challenging ( for us, not the kids), but breathtaking. We also hiked at Jewel Basin, which is a treasure. We had fun exploring the nearby towns and especially loved Whitefish. The setting of the cabin was perfect, and we all found it to be very charming. Thank you for the great stay!
I stayed in the cabin for 2 months while working on a film project in the local area. I must say, the pictures posted on the site can not do this place justice. It sits back nestled in the woods at the base of a gorgeous mountain range. There is wildlife everywhere and I could almost expect deer in the yard every morning. I will definitely be coming back here and I highly recommend this place for anyone. The rooms are big, beds are comfy, wifi (if you need it) works great and the kitchen is the perfect size. I didn't even need to use the basement, which is basically another one bedroom apartment, but had there been more people it still would have kept everyones privacy and not felt crammed. There is hiking and adventure waiting outside the door. I will be back.
Our cabin is situated in an ideal centralized location for Northwest Montana outdoor recreation. Just 21 miles to Glacier International Airport; 13 miles to Flathead Lake (largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, for boating, fishing, swimming); 9.5 miles to Jewel Basin Wilderness Area (hiking, wild like viewing, amazing wildflowers); 6.7 miles to Echo Lake (easy access for swimming, boating); 12 miles to Bigfork (shops, restaurants, live theater, artists); 17 miles to Kalispell (shopping, restaurants, art); 34 miles to Glacier National Park (hiking, breathtaking beautiful drives, boating, kayaking); 30 miles to Whitefish (Amtrack, hiking, mountain biking, restaurants and shops); 37 miles to Whitefish Big Mountain Ski Resort to the north; and 36 miles to Blacktail Mountain Ski Resort to the south. Please note that due to rural winding roads most attractions, activities, and services are beyond 15 minutes away, with most drives taking about 30 minutes.
