Our intention is to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible; and memorable, too. There are cheaper apartments around, but none where you will feel more at home, surrounded by top-quality furnishings, every appliance and a thousand personal touches. This is 5-star self-catering accommodation.
With regard to your stay, we try to think of everything: feather and down duvets and pillows, because they’re the softest and the nicest (yet man-made available for allergy-sufferers); feather and down mattress toppers, to make comfy beds just … even more comfy; we do not use energy-saving lightbulbs or even LED, just warm tungsten and halogen, because it’s so much warmer and more natural; there is entertainment in the form of books and DVDs/Blu-rays scattered around, that have been thought about (England/London-focussed); ornaments and pictures create an atmosphere, so all these have been considered, to help settle, amuse, enlighten and enhance your stay; no supermarket ‘basic’ or ‘essential’ items are supplied, but just what works best (like Andrex); towels are 100% cotton and plump; bedding is 100% cotton and mostly from John Lewis (you’d be stretched to find a man-made fibre in the apartment); floors are real wood or real wood laminate; there are always rugs; there is always plentiful hot water; heating is always efficient; kitchen equipment is extensive; cutlery and crockery is elegant; and there is nothing that might aesthetically offend.
The owner is a British and Hollywood film producer. The property has been the home of many celebrities, including actor Sir David Jason OBE and BBC TV presenter Kirsty Wark. Best-selling books and award-winning film scores have been scribed here.
STOP PRESS: Fitzrovia hailed as "The best place to live in London" by The Sunday Times, April 2016.
The apartment is a 2-minute walk to Goodge Street tube/metro/underground station and 3 minutes to both Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus stations.
However, London is best explored on foot, providing of course that you're starting from the right location, and there is no better vantage point than this apartment. Here are the walking distances to places you might like to visit during your stay (in minutes, on foot):
Oxford Street (2)
Soho (5)
Regent Street (6)
Covent Garden (8)
British Museum (9)
Harley Street (9)
National Gallery (10)
Leicester Square (10)
Bond Street (10)
Theatre District/Shaftesbury Avenue (10)
Regents Park (10)
National Portrait Gallery (10)
Trafalgar Square (13)
British Library (16)
Madame Tussauds (17)
Hyde Park (17)
Downing Street (18)
Whitehall (18)
Big Ben (21)
Buckingham Palace (22)
Westminster Abbey (22)
London Eye (23)
London Zoo (26)
St Pauls Cathedral (29)
The Royal Albert Hall (37)
Natural History Museum (41)
Tower of London (46)
There inevitably may exist accommodation that is cheaper, yet further afield, but when you add-in taxi/bus/underground charges to and fro, such alternatives can prove a false economy.
OUR RENTAL GUESTS’ COMMENTS:
We had a fantastic time in London and at Lancaster Court, and it definitely won´t be the last time that we stay there, if I have any say in the matter! For one thing: the location is perfect! Very central with plenty of good shops, pubs and restaurants close by. Easy access to public transport - both buses and the tube. We were met by Mark, who could not have been more friendly or helpful. Had even bought a pint of milk for us, so we could have a cup of tea! Flat was very clean and tidy, beds were good, with lovely linen and excellent duvet and pillows. Was impressed with DVD selection and also a nice selection of books. We liked the fact that tea, coffee, washing up liquid and the like were available on the understanding that you fill up as needed. It’s a great idea! The flat really felt like a proper home, and not a standard rental flat. Easy to feel comfortable and at home there. Rie Carlsen
Thanks so much for everything that helped make our stay at Lancaster Court one of the most pleasant we have ever had in the UK. From the Christmas Tree to the many thoughtful features. The apartment continually surprised us. Plainly you know what travellers need. I could not have been happier. And meeting Paul was a real pleasure. So thanks. We would love to come back. Richard Harman, NZ
Our stay in your home was simply perfect ! The welcome so kind and complete at our arrival, ideal facilities, so comfortable, admirable pieces of furniture and class in each detail. It will be our choice for our futures stays in London, for sure. Jean-Luc, Isabelle, Mathilde et Martin Reider
We had a great stay in London, and we very much enjoyed the apartment. It was very cozy and convenient, it had everything we needed and Paul was very nice - it was nice to know that someone was close by should there be a problem. The location was perfect for us. I will definitely recommend Lancaster Court to others looking to rent a flat in London. Sigrun Espe
Just to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lancaster Court, the location was excellent and the apartment was a perfect base. It had more equipment than I have at home. Paul greeted us and gave an excellent explanation of everything we needed to know. My sons were very happy to have wifi available. It was like a home from home. Erika Gittins
Thank you very much for letting us stay in your lovely house at Lancaster Court! Everything was perfect and we had lovely time in London. We enjoyed the high standard in the house - everything, from bedding sheets, plates, cutlery, towels etc was of high quality. The books in many languages and DVD's in the library, the furniture, the kitchen, the different bedrooms, the whole style in the house. You have kept the old character and charm of the house, combined with modern facilities, everything was beautiful! We will absolutely return to Lancaster Court in our future visits in London - this is a promise! Vessela Lakselvhaug and family

We had a really nice weekend. Your apartment is splendid in every single way. Loved the furniture, the well-equipped kitchen, the large TV, London brochures. We were well received by Mark and I could communicate with him easily by phone or sms (he brought us tablets for the dishwasher on demand!). I hope to book this apartment again when I am going to London and I will recommend it to friends and relatives. Anne-Marie van het Erve

We spent a fantastic holiday in your property, it was sort of perfect! We have been travelling to London quite often, but never stayed in a place like yours: close to all facilities and very, very quiet at night. Hartmut Fleig

Our family had a wonderful stay at 25 Lancaster Court in July 2017. Before arrival, Jonathan was extremely helpful in coordinating details with our travel plans. Once we arrived, Sreto was friendly and helpful! We stored our luggage in the flat before check-in, and Sreto gave us a thoughtful tour once we checked in. He also stopped by to see how we were doing later during our stay, which we appreciated; Jonathan and Sreto alike are very responsive and helpful. Services like trash and recycling were taken care of easily during our stay. The building’s lift was out of service while we stayed, but should be fixed during August. We found the flat to be clean, charming, and comfortable during our stay. The kitchen is stocked with supplies and there are several grocery stores nearby if needed - we really enjoyed cooking on the beautiful gas stove while we were there! The flat is in a great location for exploring London or taking day trips on the train. Jonathan gave some great recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood, and we thoroughly enjoyed scoping out the dining options in Fitzrovia! Thanks to Jonathan and Sreto for a great stay.
We had a wonderful stay. We were celebrating my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and the apartment served as a wonderful base for grandparents, our daughters, and us. We were able to eat in easily as well as enjoy a number of day trips. The location is so conveniently located. The layout is so comfortable. And Sreto was terrific—getting the place spic span clean for us, giving us tips for shopping, loaning is umbrellas, and checking in on us from time to time to make sure everything was okay. We had a marvelous stay and hope to be back in London again soon.
Excellent location and very comfortable flat with plenty of space.
Booked this property online for a family trip to London. We stayed over 2 nights and found the accommodation comfortable and very clean. Jonathan was very helpful and friendly and I would consider booking again for future visits to London.
This review is late (we stayed here in May 2016)! We loved the flat in London. We vacationed with our 3 adult kids and the apartment was our home while in London. Jonathan was very easy to deal with and so helpful. It was our first time in London (except for hubby who used to travel here for biz). I loved getting up in the morning and opening the windows. drinking tea and listening to the sounds of the city. As other reviews have said, the flat is a convenient location to everything. Walkable to tourist sites, near the tube , and catching a cab at the corner is easy. It is well equipped. We only had breakfasts in, but everything is there if you want to cook dinners. The 3 bedrooms were great. The bunks were a bit short for my 6"1" son, but after negotiation with his sister, a trade ensued and all were happy! We enjoyed the movies during downtime and enjoyed the rooftop deck our first day there. The apt was spotless and the period details added to the atmosphere. The only suggestion is perhaps a fan for the bunk room..it was unseasonably warm when we were there and the inside windows did not provide much of a breeze. We had a perfectly lovely time and would certainly stay again when back in London. Thank you for sharing your home.
This flat was perfectly located and equipped. Jonathan and his caretaker Sreto were great to deal with. The apartment is charming and clean with comfortable beds and modern appliances. It is in a chill neighborhood near nice restaurants, the British museum and great shopping. Our kids 10, 13, and 15 felt very at easer and appreciated the enormous collection of DVDs for our downtime.
We used this apartment when my mom, dad, sister and brother came for their first visit to England. We couldn't have been happier or more impressed! It is central to absolutely everything. We walked many of the main attractions, including our West End Show at Geilgud Theatre in Soho. It's just a couple of hundred yards off Oxford street. By tube, you rarely have to travel more than 2-3 stops to get to all of the main attractions. Paul and Dagmar (housekeepers) were brilliant and went out of our way to accommodate our needs. The flat itself is lovely and stocked with everything you might have forgotten. There was a new bottle of milk and cold drinks in the fridge, earbuds and hairgrips (bobby pins) in the bathroom, and printer, printer paper and ink at the desk in the sitting room. Truly, we didn't lack for anything. The price of two night stay for the 6 of us was cheaper than hotel rooms would have cost, and we were able to cook meals, relax together in the evening, and enjoy the delightful shops and local restaurants both on our street and just around the corner. We're looking for an excuse to come back!
The apartment is situated in the heart of London, only 200 yards from Oxford Street and Soho.
Equidistant from the tube/underground stations of Goodge Street, Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus. A 5-minute taxi ride from Euston, Kings Cross and St Pancras.
