Morningside Chalet is located at the end of a flat cul-de-sac with plenty of parking and no traffic. Our home is adjacent to acres of protected forestland so it is very private, quiet and relaxing but close to everything. It’s perfect for a family getaway or a romantic retreat. Walk down the hill to Blue Jay for shopping, movies, restaurant and grocery store. It’s a three-minute drive or a ten-minute walk to access the lake walking trails. We also offer use of our guest pass to the two private beach clubs (only a five minute drive) for swimming and sunbathing. We have umbrellas, rafts and cooler for your use.

It’s a short five minute drive to Lake Arrowhead Village where you and your family and friends can enjoy the summer concerts, ice cream and candy stores, galleries, shopping, boat trips and dining.

Come in the autumn for beautiful fall color and Oktoberfest or in the winter to ski Snow Valley, a short sixteen mile trip away.

The cabin sleeps six comfortably. Our master has a king bed with a private 3/4 bath while the second bedroom has a queen bed and nearby full bath. Both, bedrooms have beautiful, peaceful views. The large cheerful loft has 2 twin beds (great for kids), flat screen TV, DVD player, DVR, game table, and a closet full of games, puzzles, and books. Additionally, there is a small private deck with a view of the Little Bear Greenbelt.

All the beds have down pillows or optional hypoallergenic pillows, and luxurious new linens, comforters & quilts.

The airy yet cozy chalet has twenty-foot ceilings, eclectic high end furnishings, hardwood floors, an impressive stone fireplace in the great room and a kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless appliances. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, flatware, coffeemaker, and everything you’ll need for a 4th of July barbeque to Christmas dinner.

The ultra clean bathrooms also have granite counter tops, plenty of fluffy towels, make-up or shaving mirrors, hair dryers and personal soaps.

There are four flat screen TVs equipped with Direct TV, DVRs and an X-Box with games and NetFlix. Each TV has it’s own DVD player. Our great room TV has a sound system that will also accommodate your own Ipod or Iphone for music and the DVD player also plays CDs. We offer free WI-fi, internet service and land line telephone. We have two additional large decks with comfortable furniture, barbeque, umbrellas and dining table.

Very romantic, also great for family fun and those over 55 (as long as 10 steps down to the front door aren't an issue). People with alternative lifestyles are welcome.

Pack your clothes, food and family or friends and come up and escape the city.

This is not a party house and we ask that you respect us (and our neighbors) by not renting from us if this is what you are looking for.

About Ray and Christie

Ray grew up in the mid-west. Christie grew up in Southern California. We met while both working on the road with a famous rock band in the seventies. We dated briefly at that time and then went our separate ways. Twenty years later, we met again, fell in love and were married. We just celebrated our thirteenth anniversary.

Ray and Christie purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Ray and Christie chose Inland Empire

Christie had vacationed in Arrowhead since she was a child. When we reunited this became our favorite vacation spot as a couple. It's always been our dream to buy a home here. It has finally become a reality. Its close proximity to our home in Ventura County makes it a perfect quick escape from our busy work lives. We love it so much we plan to retire here in the future.

What makes this chalet unique

It is just a spectacular house. We walked in and saw the 20 foot cathedral ceilings, floor to ceiling fireplace, wall of windows and huge deck and fell in love. Our home

is located at the end of the street so it is very quiet and feels far away from everything. It's really just above Blue Jay and at the west end of the lake. If there weren't so many beautiful trees we would have a lake view. We have plenty of parking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Would love to stay here for another week or two! Reggie loved your deck with squirrels and jays to keep him alert-also our long walks around the neighborhood. Thanks so much!

Well kept, cozy and homey

  • 5 of 5

Very nice home, we loved it! It's at the end of the street so on one side there weren't any neighbors . We loved all the trees and wilderness. My son and nephew(both teens) slept in the loft which they loved. Did puzzles, played board games and Xbox which was all provided. Basically the whole house was furnished, clean and really didn't need anything because it's was all there. We went for a long walk to the village and we thought that was a great experience. Overall a great trip and would definitely do it again. Thank you Ray and Christie!!

Great house and location

  • 4 of 5

Ray and Christie's Blue Jay house had everything we needed. Plenty of room for all of us (4). The loft was great for our son to chill. The deck was great with nice views and comfortable furniture. The Lake passes were great-spent most of our time at Arrowhead beaches. Christie was extremely informative on everything Arrowhead. That helped a lot. Only reason for 4 stars is the kitchen is galley like and difficult to maneuver with more than 1 person. Overall a great stay ata great house.

Owner's Response: Matt, We are so glad you and your family enjoyed the chalet and had a good time. We are so sorry you found the kitchen too small. It is small but well equipped with high end appliances, cookware and dishes. Many small families have stayed for Thanksgiving and Christmas and cooked their holiday meals there. We are glad you still enjoyed your vacation and look forward to hearing from you again!

Nice location, quiet. Fair value.

  • 4 of 5

All in all a nice place.

Pros:

Clean house, very well stocked with housewares, etc.

They allowed pets (we have 2 well-behaved dogs).

End of the street so it was very quiet and secluded.

Hiking in the area is really nice, You need an adventure pass for most trail heads so don't forget to get one.

Cons:

We felt it was somewhat overpriced for what it was....maybe it's just the area.

Master bedroom mattress was horrible. It had a big sinkhole in the middle of it.

BBQ grill heat unevenly and flared up uncontrollably.

Area is beautiful and private so access to the lake for fishing was difficult at best.

Owner's Response: Wow. We are shocked and hurt by this review. I guess you can't please everyone. It should be noted that these guests left early because of a medical emergency, so maybe their trip was tainted by that. He writes in his headline "Fair Value" and proceeds to say that we are overpriced. We are competitively priced with other similar homes in Lake Arrowhead. We are not a stripped down "run of the mill' rental. We are not a motel. We also are not a 5 star hotel. Ours is a well equipped, well loved mountain home that we work hard at keeping nice for our guests. He proceeds to say that our master bed had a "sinkhole" and was "terrible". Please read the reviews from Karen on April 12, David on January 24 or Bob from January 5. Each of these review states how comfortable the beds are. Our beds are all under two years old and we've had some guests ask what brand they are so that they could purchase the same beds. We were there ourselves a month ago and slept in the master bed. There was a snowstorm the weekend we were there (before his trip) so we couldn't easily check the barbeque. The summer season is just now starting and we will be there to check it this upcoming weekend. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake but we do provide beach passes for our guests and directions to the fishing dock. We tell guests where to get information about stream fishing and that they can also fish in Lake Gregory. We do our best to always make our guest's trip the best we can. We are hoping that future guests refer to our 75 five star reviews in addition to this one. Update: We did check on the BBQ and the snowy winter had taken it's toll. It was tired. We just replaced it with a new propane grill.

Charming, Cozy and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five (two pre-teens and a terrier mutt) had an extremely relaxing vacation in this lovely home. The owners made everything easy for us to settle in an enjoy the mountains. Plenty of games and activities for the kids, but the best part for the adults was relaxing on one of the decks with a book and breathing in the fresh mountain air. The chalet has all the conveniences a family needs for a peaceful respite in a beautiful setting. We will definitely consider it in our future plans!

Very Comfortable & Peaceful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our short trip to Lake Arrowhead and glad to have found this chalet. We felt very much at home. The house had all the needed supplies and the beds were very comfortable with soft linens. We do appreciate a flat screen TV in every room. The deck is large and has a beautiful view of trees and mountains. You can sit and enjoy a glass of wine while watching squirrels and blue jays play.

This property does not have a grass area for dogs but it is at the end of the cul-de-sac next to the woods so your dog can go there or walk down the street. The market is within minutes away and the village is about 15 minutes away.

Christie was very professional, kind, generous, and accommodating. She provided excellent customer service! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.

Great atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

First off we would like to thank Ray and Christie for opening up this beautiful home to our family. It was exactly like the pictures but even better in person. We had great communication from the start and throughout our visit. The house is in a great spot easy to find and a big driveway which was convenient since we drive a big truck. The house was clean and has a tv in every room which was great. Looking outside at the woods is very refreshing and gives you a real feel of nature. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this place and come back again. Thank you!!
