Morningside Chalet is located at the end of a flat cul-de-sac with plenty of parking and no traffic. Our home is adjacent to acres of protected forestland so it is very private, quiet and relaxing but close to everything. It’s perfect for a family getaway or a romantic retreat. Walk down the hill to Blue Jay for shopping, movies, restaurant and grocery store. It’s a three-minute drive or a ten-minute walk to access the lake walking trails. We also offer use of our guest pass to the two private beach clubs (only a five minute drive) for swimming and sunbathing. We have umbrellas, rafts and cooler for your use.

It’s a short five minute drive to Lake Arrowhead Village where you and your family and friends can enjoy the summer concerts, ice cream and candy stores, galleries, shopping, boat trips and dining.

Come in the autumn for beautiful fall color and Oktoberfest or in the winter to ski Snow Valley, a short sixteen mile trip away.

The cabin sleeps six comfortably. Our master has a king bed with a private 3/4 bath while the second bedroom has a queen bed and nearby full bath. Both, bedrooms have beautiful, peaceful views. The large cheerful loft has 2 twin beds (great for kids), flat screen TV, DVD player, DVR, game table, and a closet full of games, puzzles, and books. Additionally, there is a small private deck with a view of the Little Bear Greenbelt.

All the beds have down pillows or optional hypoallergenic pillows, and luxurious new linens, comforters & quilts.

The airy yet cozy chalet has twenty-foot ceilings, eclectic high end furnishings, hardwood floors, an impressive stone fireplace in the great room and a kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless appliances. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, flatware, coffeemaker, and everything you’ll need for a 4th of July barbeque to Christmas dinner.

The ultra clean bathrooms also have granite counter tops, plenty of fluffy towels, make-up or shaving mirrors, hair dryers and personal soaps.

There are four flat screen TVs equipped with Direct TV, DVRs and an X-Box with games and NetFlix. Each TV has it’s own DVD player. Our great room TV has a sound system that will also accommodate your own Ipod or Iphone for music and the DVD player also plays CDs. We offer free WI-fi, internet service and land line telephone. We have two additional large decks with comfortable furniture, barbeque, umbrellas and dining table.

Very romantic, also great for family fun and those over 55 (as long as 10 steps down to the front door aren't an issue). People with alternative lifestyles are welcome.

Pack your clothes, food and family or friends and come up and escape the city.

This is not a party house and we ask that you respect us (and our neighbors) by not renting from us if this is what you are looking for.

About Ray and Christie

Ray grew up in the mid-west. Christie grew up in Southern California. We met while both working on the road with a famous rock band in the seventies. We dated briefly at that time and then went our separate ways. Twenty years later, we met again, fell in love and were married. We just celebrated our thirteenth anniversary.

Ray and Christie purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Ray and Christie chose Inland Empire

Christie had vacationed in Arrowhead since she was a child. When we reunited this became our favorite vacation spot as a couple. It's always been our dream to buy a home here. It has finally become a reality. Its close proximity to our home in Ventura County makes it a perfect quick escape from our busy work lives. We love it so much we plan to retire here in the future.

What makes this chalet unique

It is just a spectacular house. We walked in and saw the 20 foot cathedral ceilings, floor to ceiling fireplace, wall of windows and huge deck and fell in love. Our home

is located at the end of the street so it is very quiet and feels far away from everything. It's really just above Blue Jay and at the west end of the lake. If there weren't so many beautiful trees we would have a lake view. We have plenty of parking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Would love to stay here for another week or two! Reggie loved your deck with squirrels and jays to keep him alert-also our long walks around the neighborhood. Thanks so much!

Relaxing sunlit getaway

  • 5 of 5

This chalet is a great place to relax and enjoy a book. It has tons of light and is very peaceful. The home is very well organized and thought out so we didn't have to worry about anything while we were there. Did I mention relaxing? We truly enjoyed our stay.

The Perfect Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Like in anything, sometime the pictures don't tell an accurate story. In this case, the chalet lived up to the expectation. The cabin was clean and cozy. We had 6 in our party and the accommodations were matched perfectly. The beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were surprisingly quiet. We had a great time watching it snow and enjoyed watching movies, playing games and putting together a puzzle. The short walk to down town was nice as well as the short drive to the lake. We will definitely be returning to this cabin in the future.

Owner's Response: Dave, Thanks for the nice review. You and your family really had a snow adventure! You came up in the middle of a huge snow storm and got in just in time! So glad you got to enjoy the snow and the weather cleared up the next day for you. Please do come back. You were really fun guests. We really enjoyed your funny texts! All the best. R&C.

A Winter Wonderland Adventure

  • 5 of 5

The house was lovely, and the amenities were plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay overall. It snowed over a foot the night we arrived (12/23/16), so we got a beautiful white Christmas just 2 hours north of sunny San Diego! Since the house was cozy and warm, beautifully decorated, and well stocked (including plenty of wood for the fireplace), we were perfectly comfortable staying inside, but did miss out on exploring the area because of the road conditions. Christie was especially attentive during our entire stay, even though it fell over the Christmas holidays - making sure we were o.k., responding to questions that arose strictly because of the weather situation, etc. Along with the white Christmas, of course, came the after-effort to shovel our way up the steps from the house to the street, and then shovel our way out of the driveway - definitely not a predictable circumstance, and a known possibility ahead of time, but an effort that used up several hours of our stay.

Owner's Response: Barbara, What crazy weather we've had this winter! Christmas was just the beginning. Everyone loves the snow but we have really had A LOT of snow! When we have so much so quickly it can be hard to do anything for a few days. It's my understanding that it is the most snow we've had in about ten years. Typically, the snow plows are up and running 24 hours a day, but it just kept snowing! The timing of your Christmas trip was right in the middle of it all. Your family did have a white Christmas and a real holiday adventure. We are glad you still had a nice time and enjoyed the chalet. Please come back again so that you can enjoy even more of what Lake Arrowhead has to offer. You were wonderful adventurous guests and we look forward to hearing from you again soon!

This is what every vacation experience should be like!

  • 5 of 5

It is hard to think "where do i start" when reviewing this gorgeous home and property. Form the very beginning, Christie and Ray demonstrated why their beautiful home has nothing but 5 star ratings. They were ever so patient with all of our questions before we booked, getting back to us with lightening quick speed (usually within a few minutes of our e-mail to them). Once we decided to book their home, they wanted to make sure that we were 100% comfortable with them and their home before they would take our payment. The communication prior to our arrival was second to none. They went over everything and even let us know about the road conditions prior to our drive up to their home. Our arrival was seamless and we were welcomed with an incredible snow covered view of of the mountains from all of the beautiful picture windows throughout the living area. Their home was spotless and the pictures posted do not do the property justice. The kitchen was more than well stocked as we prepared all of out meals there. We had 5 adults and their home was very spacious and extremely comfortable. We all spent the majority of our time in the living room, reading, playing games in front of the beautiful fireplace. Christie and Ray provide you with every convenience that you could possibly ask for including Satellite TV with DVD players in every room, great Wi-Fi throughout home and very comfortable furniture. Each and every bed was very comfortable, even the twin beds up in the loft. Everyone in our party commented on how well they slept. The central heating worked great in all of the rooms as everyone was comfortable, even when it was in the 20's outside. The decks are inviting (although there was a lot of snow) we did spend some time looking at the majesty of the mountains and surrounding areas from both decks. If we had visited in the spring, summer or fall, I can't imagine ever leaving the comforts of the rear decks. There are plenty of places to explore outside of this beautiful home and we will definitely be back to hike along the many trails and fully enjoy all of the experiences that Lake Arrowhead has to offer. The home is at the end of a cul-de-sac with only one neighbor. The street is plowed and we had no issue with the plentiful parking. This is a must rent place. We could not have asked for a better overall experience. Thank you Christie and Ray, you both rock!

Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

The Morningside Chalet has become our favorite place to vacation! Ray & Christie are very helpful and responsive. We first stayed here last Thanksgiving, and had such a great, relaxing time that we re-booked it again this year and couldn't be happier! We love how the cabin is decorated and appointed. It feels cozy and warm, while at the same time being classy and refined. The view from the treetops is amazing! It's great sitting on the balcony and breathing the fresh mountain air. The kitchen is well-stocked and has everything we needed to make Thanksgiving dinner. The fireplace is great, and really adds to the experience. The beds are super comfortable. My daughters love hanging out in the loft area and playing games. Our Labrador loves staying here as well! I can't say enough good things about this place or the owners. We can't wait to come back next time. Book your next vacation with Ray & Christie at the Morningside Chalet, you will be glad you did!

Owner's Response: Todd, we are so grateful for the kind review. It's so nice when our guests notice that we really try to give them a good experience. Our real payback is when families like yours keep coming back. It' a goal for us to just have our same great guests come back year after year and share the chalet with us. We love hosting you and your family and look forward to having you stay again soon. Happy Holidays! Christie (& Ray)
