Sharman is a retired legal assistant. Originally from Chicago, Illinois we moved to Florida over 20 years ago. We are very active, love adventure, travel and meeting new people.
Kelly Bare purchased this apartment in 2011
We absolutely love our 1917 house and property. Especially our courtyard...our little slice of paradise. Quiet, private, and relaxing. The East Lake Morton Historic District neighborhood is a central Florida gem located between Orlando & Tampa... A beautiful, cosmopolitan little city with many events and activities to offer, but still a respite from the noise and congestion of Orlando & Tampa.
During our travels throughout the U.S., Europe and Mexico we have stayed at many a B & B, cottage, apartment. Thus we have first-hand experience in knowing what tourists desire in a place to stay away from home. We strive to make our guesthouse comfortable, clean, quiet and a fun place to stay. We are always willing to do whatever is required to make our guests stay pleasant. We also provide a separate laundry/storage room with washer and dryer and space for luggage, bicycles, fishing gear, etc. We offer free use of bicycles, spa and summer kitchen for our guests as well.
From the moment we stepped onto the property to the moment we left everything was on point. We, my daughter, her finance and myself, booked the Historical District Guesthouse while visiting for my nieces wedding and I wouldn't have done it any other way.
Upon arrival Kelly (Bare) escorted us around the property and to our private parking space and entrance. The 1 bedroom apartment was the perfect size and was beautifully decorated and the courtyard (w/hot tub) was tranquil and quiet. Having the hot tub waiting for use after a long day experiencing Harry Potter at Universal was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
The service – From my first email to check out, Kelly and his wife made themselves available and were very accommodating to all of our needs.
I would absolutely recommend to friends and family this wonderful oasis getaway and will in fact be going back again. Top notch location and great atmosphere. Downtown Lakeland’s local shops were a nice change from a big city and having the lake 1 block away made for an enjoyable walk (with the swans). The Guesthouse was just far enough away from the commercialism of Universal and Disney but close enough (15 mins) to drive and enjoy the parks.
The apartment was perfect for two, well designed and equipped, spotless and nicely decorated. Rental includes access to laundry downstairs, two bikes and the garden, including hot tub, gas/charcoal grill and outdoor dining table. Our hosts were friendly, generous, helpful and responsive. Great location close to down town and several beautiful lakes with waking &biking paths circling them.
My wife and I rented this unit for a week to explore the Lakeland area, the unit was clean, well maintained and well depicted by the photo's. The Bare's are wonderful hosts and are eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The backyard oasis is beautiful and provides a great outdoor living space to relax and unwind. The unit is very comfortable and has all the comforts of home. The location is hard to beat from walking downtown to walking for miles around the nearby lakes. We had a great time exploring the area walking and biking around the city and enjoyed going downtown to eat in one of the many upscale restaurants. The Saturday morning farmers market downtown is a great way to see what the locals have to offer. We would certainly recommend this property to anyone interested in seeing and exploring all that Lakeland has to offer.
The apartment was a perfect "home base" for bringing our daughter to Lakeland for her first year of college. Close to Florida Southern, close to downtown, close to the last minute shopping for all those items first-timers dont realize the've forgotten. Kelly was a delightful host, the place was spotless and the power stayed on during a ferocious thunderstorm.
Kelly's guest home was perfect for my daughter and me. We were able to enjoy time together during a stressful time of starting college a long way from home. The guest house is near FSC and in a nice historic neighborhood. It was safe, very clean, close to the lake and downtown. Kelly was a delight to talk with, very warm, helpful and quick to help. I am glad to have found this wonderful place to return to over the next several years while my daughter goes to college.
I stayed at this property for a business trip in July and it was wonderful! The location was great and the accommodations were extremely comfortable and safe. I stayed for a week and was able to utilize the laundry which was great. The place was modern and clean and felt brand new. I did mind the window air conditioners because they were a bit loud, but i turned off the one in the bedroom for sleeping and the place was perfectly cool without it. The owners were available for what ever I might need and made me feel right at hoe. Having a fully appointed kitchen was a huge benefit. I'd stay here again!
