I have been a self employed family law attorney for almost 20 years. I've also been a landlord for about 18 years. One of the things I love about working as an attorney andas a landlord is the variety of people I get to meet - from all over the world. Of course, our modern day lifestyles are very stressful even if you love your work. To help relieve work stress, I started gardening in earnest. One of the perks of staying at SunFlower Acres are the available veggies and fruits in season free for the picking by our guests. I'm striving to be a good steward of the soil, so my gardening technique is primarily "No Till." I just keep piling on organic materials such as pine straw, wood chips, grass clippings, composted soil and natural fertilizers like bat guano, cow manure, kelp, rock dust, alfalfa pellets, and the like. My wish list for my future evolution is to grow more food than what I buy in the grocery store, become a zero waste household, and eat a whole food, plant based diet. Finally, my law practice has grown into a mediation practice, and I try to live and work by the motto: "Solutions are only limited by your imagination." I'm excited about being an AirBnB host and I look forward to meeting all my future guests.

Very cozy and clean
My husband and I stayed here for two nights while we moved our son into his new residence at University of Florida. It was close enough to campus but far enough away for a peaceful and quiet visit to the country. The cottage was very clean and comfortable.
Thank you so much. You were wonderful guests. We would love to have you as guests.
It was very well equipped, clean and just an overall great place to stay. We have already booked for our next trip to visit our son at UF.
A very cozy, well equipped cottage in a pretty setting.
We found Sunflower Acres cottage to be very clean, well equipped & a cozy place to stay. We liked that it was out in the country yet only 20 minutes from the University of Florida. We also appreciate that we were able to bring our 2 Chihuahua’s with us. We will be returning to the cottage in another month for a UF Continuing Education class.
friendly host, not great fit for us
While we appreciated the friendliness of the host, we felt that this wasn't a great fit for us - mainly due to the location to the springs and highsprings (this home is very far out in the country, nothing nearby) downtown but also because there were some conditions items that needed to be attended to, the seating in the living room wasn't very comfortable, etc. I thought the price was very reasonable but the cleaning fee was high.
poor communication and first impression
The host was not aware of my arrival the day of, even though I had reserved and paid two weeks earlier. After not receiving check in instructions the day of, I called the host, left a message, and never got a call back. The reason I got for the unreturned call was that a large number of telemarketers call the same number, and they must have overlooked my message. Very poor first impression. I was hoping the host would have come and talked to us personally during the remainder of our stay, and that never happened. As for the guest house itself, the pictures represent it well. It was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped enough to cook a few meals. The farm hands working around the property were very polite and friendly also. Hopefully these other issues will be improved upon in the future.
Cozy stay in a tranquil setting
Lorrie has created a special, welcoming home away from home at Sunflower Acres. It's obvious she put a lot of thought into the energy here -- the cook's kitchen at the heart of the house, color choices, art work with legacy and meaning, and growing things everywhere.
Make sure to get outside before dawn to catch the stars and bird song in this peaceful place. <3
