Carol and David purchased this cabin in 1950
My family has lived on the property since 1950 since I was 1. I grew up here and learned that this property is the most unique space in Bonnet Shores and offers the most privacy, comfort and space. It's located on a short private dead end trail with no traffic..Close to all amenities and activities..
ALSO AVAILABLE FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR, CALL FOR PRICING
Seclusion and privacy. Close to beach and activities.
My family and I are very familiar with VRBO as this was our 6th time renting. By far, this was the best experience we had with the property exceeding our expectations and the fondness we developed for the owners. Traveling with 2 teenage girls, this cabin provided us with privacy and just enough room to space out but still feel like we were on vacation together. The cabin had everything you could think of to make meal prep (and baking) easy. We enjoy cooking together on vacations and did so, even used the gas grill on the patio. The washer and dryer also allowed us to pack light and do our laundry before going home! The cabin is decorated beautifully and clean to my standards which are extremely high. We have rented other places only to clean before we unpack!
You are very secluded with only Dave and Carol as neighbors. They are most gracious and available for any questions you may have. We enjoyed their company over wine one of our evenings, and found they are truly fascinating people.
The beach is a 10 min walk or 5 min drive. There is no parking at the beach so my husband would drop us off with our gear, park the car at the cabin and walk down. Other days we rode bikes. Dave has 2 for use and we brought 2 of our own. Newport is about 40 mins or so, and we spent 2 days there exploring the mansions which was our main reason for visiting the area. We also went on a foodie tour and sampled local bites at several restaurants as well as learned Newport history. Another day we spent in Mystic, CT which was only about a 30 min drive. We absolutely would recommend this property for people who love to travel rather than take "vacations". You won't be disappointed
This cabin is not your usual beach rental. The best feature is that it's such a private location. Carol and David are the only close neighbors and are a pleasure to get acquainted with. They are available when you need them and will make you feel at home. The cabin is an easy walk to and from Kelly beach. My husband dropped my son and I off at the beach, drove back to the cabin to park, and walked to the beach to join us in under 15 minutes. When we were done at the beach he walked to get the car and picked us up with our stuff at the entrance. So easy! The new living room furniture is comfy and the whole place is decorated adorably. The loft was cozy for our son who is tall; just be aware of the low ceiling. Though it was cool enough to open the windows and enjoy the breeze for a few days, we were delighted that the cabin has central air, which kept it comfortably cool, even in the loft. The kitchen is well stocked and their bath towels are luxuriously thick. The whole cabin was immaculate. It's really nice when you open the shades because there are so many windows to let in the light and breezes on cool days! Just a tip: the washer and dryer are located in a room attached to the back of the house near the outdoor shower. We loved watching the catbird, Bonnet bunnies, and a chipmunk from the patio. The chipmunk actually walked right under our seats and never batted an eye! You'll love this private, secluded diamond in Bonnet Shores! Be sure to visit Brickley's for ice cream.
This ' cottage by the sea' was the perfect little house to escape to. Location was ideal to RI beaches. Great restaurants abound as do ice cream shops and bakeries. A one bedroom cottage that could actually seat 20 people when guests came over. The outside shower was even better than the inside one! Cozy and oh so clean. The loft ended up holding two additional people our 2nd week there and everyone was still comfortable! Carol and Dave - fantastic owners. A repeat experience is needed!
We just returned from our week in Bonnet Shores at this wonderful cabin with our two tween/teenage boys, and I must confess it was hard to leave! The owners, our hosts, were warm and welcoming and happy to share this gem of a cottage with our family. Renovated in a way respectful of the vintage architecture but perfect for the present day, the cabin had everything our family needed - a quiet location, cool New England breezes, an easy walk to a sweet local beach, and a great location for our other Rhode island adventures. We even took a day trip up to Boston, but it was delightful to arrive back at this quiet cabin at the end of the day and fall in to our beds. Our youngest who was won over by the loft and beach, repeatedly said that he would like to move in permanently. I hope we have a chance to go back in future years and enjoy this special gem of a vacation destination again.
This beautiful cabin is everything one could hope for if interested in a close-to-everything while far -away- from -the -crowd place to spend some time in beautiful Narragansett. Every amenity is provided, and the cabin is cozy, peaceful, and impeccably maintained. It was such a joy to venture out on our day trips (Rhode Island beach areas can be very crowded with lots of traffic in the summers) to return at the end of the day to a peaceful, serene cabin, enjoying the wildlife in the yard and the firefly "shows" at night. Owners Carol and David are welcoming, gracious, attentive to every need, while allowing for privacy during our stay. I enjoyed every minute of this lovely vacation, and definitely intend to rent again in the near future. It is truly a gem!!!
We just got back from our week long stay in beautiful Narragansett. The cabin was perfect for a family of 4.The kids loved being up in the loft. They called it their tree house. The house was spotless. So clean and refreshing. It had all new appliances, including new washer & dryer, 2 good size closets, nice private yard, central air, all linens included, outside shower with hot water, and a nice screened in porch. You will not be disappointed staying here. The owners Carol & David are the nicest people & live next door. So, if you need anything they can help. We loved our stay and fell in love with Narragansett! We cannot wait to go back!
Hopefully, some useful info:
*The cabin is a bike ride or a 15 min walk to the best home made ice cream in town, Brickley's!! I must have everyday!
*Across the street from Brickley's is Fuel, an awesome coffee house with the best ice coffee & donuts!
*Same distance but opposite direction is a great grocery store, Roch's. You can pick up some already made lunches and dinners for the beach or picnics.
*Cabin is also a short walk to a private beach for Bonnet Shores residents. It does not have public restrooms or a snack bar but the houses and views are stunning!
*We loved Wheeler beach. It has calmer waves. Perfect for the kids. You do not have to pay after 4 but the restrooms, showers and concession stand closes at 6.
*The highlight of the trip was kayaking at the Narrow River to Narragansett Beach. So relaxing and beautiful! A fun family adventure. If we didn't have the kiddos we would have definitely paddled board instead.
* A fast ferry ride to Block Island is a must! The beaches are beautiful!
*We also explored Jamestown. A 15 min car ride to a charming island. We loved it! A Slice of Heaven is the best place for breakfast and pastries. Highly recommend going!
* Food trucks every Mon & Wed at Narragansett beach
* Free concert at the gazebo across from the Towers
*Bike ride along Narragansett Beach and the Towers
* Some restaurants we ate at and recommend, (I'm sure there are more but theses are the ones we tried) Iggy's, George's, The Coast Guard House (my fave), Matunuck Oyster Bar (my fave), Crazy Burger, & A Slice of Heaven (my fave)
