Great location - Very Spacious

  • 5 of 5

The location of this VRBO is excellent - it is a 1-2 minute walk to the Bastille station which has Line 1 (the major line that goes along the Seine and to major museums). The farmers market off the Bastille roundabout on Sundays and Thursdays is excellent. I loved being able to get fresh items and prepare them in the apartment's kitchen. The beds are decently comfy too.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

1) The apartment has no air conditioning. It is relatively cool during the night when you open the windows, but it can be warm during the day.

2) The washer/dryer combo works well, but can only handle smaller loads and takes 3.5 hours to run. It's nice to have though :)

3) The towels are just okay... If you want fluffy towels, bring your own.

4) There were plenty of pots, pans, utensils and dishes in the kitchen. And of course a wine opener. However, don't try running more than 2 kitchen appliances at a time - this can cause the fuse to blow. It's easy enough to reset, but I wouldn't risk it.

Great location, quiet street, great shower.

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed here before and liked the proximity to the Bastille Metro. It is in the 4th arrondissement, close to many great shops and restaurants. It is on the 5th floor, which contributes to the quietness.

I thought that the 40 Euro "Late fee" was unfriendly, especially since the reason we were late was because the French Air Traffic Control strike delayed our plane by 2 hours. The shades in the kitchen window need to be repaired. The toilet room sink needs to be repaired because it stops up if you leave the water on for more than 5 seconds. The last time we stayed here, the maid's fee was included in the total fee. This time, we were told that we would have to pay the maid ourselves, or have the amount taken out of our security deposit. Again, it felt unfriendly.

Excellent location and very nice apartment

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice, quiet, roomy apartment that is well situated near Place de la Bastille with access to three metro lines plus many bus routes. My spouse and I enjoyed our one month stay here in spring 2016. It is within walking distance of the Seine, Notre-Dame-de-Paris, the Conciergerie and many other places of interest. There are grocery stores (Monoprix & Franprix), cafes, bistros, bakeries, wine stores, pastry shops, cheese shops, chocolateries and two outdoor markets just around the corner. The kitchen is small but fully equipped for cooking your own meals. The wireless internet works well and we were able to call our kids in Canada for free. There are so many interesting things to see and do and fantastic places to eat in Paris that we wished we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this lovely apartment for two people!

Excellent accommodation, brilliant location

  • 4 of 5

After 30+ years visiting Paris we have finally found our Parisian home away from home. The gentrified elegance (with a modern bathroom) was exactly as described, the location (around the corner from the Metro and Bastille Market and a short walk to the shops of Saint Paul) was superb and the efficiency of Olivier the manager made this our easiest months stay ever in Paris.

Retired Couple

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this flat for 11 wonderful weeks from mid January to the end of March, 2015. We can only say YES! to all the positive comments in earlier reviews. We walked everywhere for weeks before using the Metro--by choice because there is so much of Paris to see on the street in any direction from this location. The farmer's market on Thursdays and Sundays is just a short walk across the Place de la Bastille and should be visited often. Finally, we were fortunate to meet the owner of the flat and learn of her love for this property and its history in her family.

Great Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

I spent the month of October in this charming apartment. It is roomy, comfortable, close to Metro, the bus and Gare de Lyon. Lots of great bakeries, cheese shops and chocolate stores as well as clothing stores, both retail and second-hand. There is a Monoprix as well as a FranPrix both within easy walking distance. Initially, I feared that the apartment's close proximity to the Bastille area would be an issue as to noise. Although I travel with earplugs, I never needed them which is a definite plus. I do a lot of cooking when I travel so the Bastille Market was a great place to buy fresh food. It's almost overwhelming as there are dozens of vendors. Best to go up and down the rows of vendors and check out their prices before buying anything as the prices can vary quite a bit.

Olivier, the manager, was friendly and accommodating, at the door when I arrived, explained all of the apartment details and assured me that he was available in case of any questions or problems. One great amenity is the landline from which you can make free calls, both to cell numbers and landlines in the US and Canada.

As an aside, every time I have rented a Paris apartment, I've had to pay foreign transaction fees for both PayPal and credit cards. This is not an unusual practice. Also, I had no problem dealing with a US PayPal account. As to the cleaning fee that the previous poster mentioned, it could have been assessed due to not having left the apartment as tidy as it was when he arrived. There is a notice in the apartment instructions that if the apartment is not in order at departure, a fee will be charged.
