The village and surrounding area is a haven for wildlife, including a large resident seal colony. Gannets and arctic terns from the Bass Rock can be viewed feeding around West Wemyss in the summer months and dolphins are also frequent visitors.

Q: What’s the living area like?
A: The living room has a brand new wood burning stove for cosy winter nights (a bag of kindling and kiln dried logs are provided for your first few fires). There’s a comfy leather chaise style sofa and 2 ridiculously comfortable armchairs. The collection of pictures you can see on the wall are original 1940’s Lady Chatterley’s always ask!!
Q: Where can we eat?
A: There is a fabulous large dining table which seats 6 guests. You can also sit & do a big jigsaw here!
Q: Are there enough things to entertain us?
A: No55 is fully stocked with lots of books, jigsaws and board games for rainy or just relaxing days...It's an old fashioned seaside 'get away from it all home'. It’s in a small peaceful fishing village (just 2 streets). You’ll really feel as if you have stepped back in else can you go for a beach stroll to look at the seals after dinner?
There’s a large TV with all the usual freeview channels & Netflix too! There's a digital radio & also Marshall speakers for you to hook up to your Iphone/smart phone.
There’s also unlimited free Wi-fi for your use. So enough entertainment to keep everyone happy!!
Q: What about the kitchen?
A: It has a small but perfectly formed kitchen. It is well stocked with all the kitchen equipment you might need (you can even bake a cake!) and has washing machine, small fridge, oven & a new microwave. Tea, ground coffee, sugar, oil, salt, pepper & other pantry goods are always provided for you.
Q: Is there somewhere I can work?
A: Upstairs No55 has a really handy little 'study' area on the landing with mahogany desk & chair so you can comfortably work at a laptop.
Q: What about the bedrooms?
A: The main bedroom is a beautiful deep blue 'grown up' double bedroom with small grandfather wardrobe, chest of drawers and lloyd loom bedside tables for storage. It’s a restful & quite romantic room!
Q: What about the 2nd bedroom?
A: The ‘yellow’ twin room has 2 single dormitory style beds and a large upholstered chest of drawers. There are bedside tables with lovely fisherman’s lanterns for bedtime reading. There are also wall pegs for hanging extra items of clothes.
Q: Do you allow extra guests?
A: No55 is absolutely ideal for 4 but can easily accommodate an extra guest. Perfect if someone is joining you for a few days!
There is a single fold down bed available to an extra guest (or additional child) & this can comfortably be used in either bedroom. Bedding & towels for an extra guest are also provided for absolutely no extra give me a little notice!
Q: Is there a bath or shower?
A: There is a sunny bathroom with an over the bath shower. Shampoo & soap are both provided along with plenty of towels. There’s also a WC on the ground floor...
Q: What about outside space?
A: There’s a beautiful fully enclosed landscaped courtyard which is perfect if you are travelling with children or furry friends. It has a paved area for sitting out to enjoy the sunshine & a BBQ for guest use. In summer it’s a haven for butterflies....There are lovely lavender beds in full bloom mid summer, which smell divine.
Q: Do you welcome well behaved pets & children?
A: Both are very welcome! If you are travelling with either please let me know so that I can make No55 ready for them too!
Dogs (small or medium, 2 maximum) are well catered for with bed, bowls, cage, old towels & tennis balls. There is a £30 charge for pets.
Young children are provided with plastic cups & plates, colouring in books etc. There are also children’s story books too.
Q: Why would we want to go anywhere else?!
A: You wouldn’t!!
