We bought it for 'us'. It's on the top floor - no lift - of a building occupied by 'Nicois' so you are really living where the locals live. We've tried to combine the old with the new, retaining the original 200 year old tomettes (floor tiles) and gnarled, timber beams but taking advantage of the conveniences of a modern kitchen and bathroom - and air conditioning! It's quiet, light and airy and there's plenty of room for four, plus a mezzanine in the bedroom that has a CD player and is an ideal area to 'chill out'. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, micro-wave, fridge freezer and washing machine. In the lounge there is cable TV and DVD player (plus a selection of DVD's, CD's and books) and free Wifi internet connection. If you don't fancy cooking you're spoilt with the choice of the superb range of restaurants just outside your door! Look at the photos for the rest... we don't think you'll be disappointed

Bonjour! This property is worthy of 10+***. It embodied all that the city of Nice and especially old town Nice had to offer: neat and tidy, comfortable, safe and secure, warm and inviting, quiet charm and confidence with amazing character. The location is indeed superb; I could walk to all the sites including shopping or take short bus/tram rides to great attractions and meet friendly and kind neighbours along the way in a divine neighbourhood that thrives on joy.
Anyone planning a visit to Nice, try to rent this outstanding property for the wonderful host, Ken, who provided excellent instructions prior to my stay, and his fabulous and approachable housekeeper, Annemarie who was helpful during my stay. They are a dynamic duo!
I intend to recommend all to family and friends. See the beaches beyond Nice, (Antibes, Cap Ferrat and Menton); take the bus and/or train to hilltop towns (Vence, Menton, and Tende); taste candied violets, rose jam, socca, barbajuan with lemon, panisse frite, pissaladiere, salade Nicoise, market fresh fruits from Liberation, tarte pomme (all tartes - sweet and savoury), morning breads from Cours Saleya, pizza and ice cream! Smell the jasmine air and other fragrant flowers, and with my limited French, connect with the people living their daily lives.
Thank you, Ken for allowing me to experience this beautiful blue coast from this home base.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much. We'd be delighted to welcome you, your family and friends back at any time. As you say, it's a lovely part of the world and Nice is an ideal base from which to explore it. With best wishes from us and hoping that we might see you again some time in the future. Ken & Anne-Marie.
Cosy apartment in brilliant location
We loved our stay at this quaint homely apartment. It is well set up and is located in the heart of the old town in Nice. Everything is close by: restaurants, shopping, supermarket, the ocean front promenade and buses if you wish to explore the gorgeous hilltop towns. We took local buses to Eze, St Paul de Vence, Vence, Grasse, St Jean Cap Ferrat and Villefranche Sur Mer. We enjoyed meals at lovely local restaurants, shopped in both the old town and in the main shopping area all an easy walk from the apartment.
Yes, there are LOTS of stairs to climb to reach the apartment but worth the climb for the location and ambience.
Anne Marie met us on arrival and was happy to answer all our questions.
She is only a phone call or text away and although only speaks French, she has a great translation app on her phone so communication was easy.
We would highly recommend this apartment and look forward to returning.
Hi Carolyn. Thanks for a lovely review and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Very much hope we'll see you again sometime in the future. Ken
Visit to NIce
This apartment was ideal for visiting Nice. It was close to all major sites within the heart of Vieux Nice. The apartment was clean and well equipped. I would definitely recommend this apartment.
Thanks Jurgen. Pleased you had a good stay and hope we may see you again sometime in the future.
Brilliant, exactly as described
Thoroughly enjoyed staying in the old town, lots of eating places close by and shops, supermarkets - easy access to Castle, trams, buses, etc
Thanks Brian. Glad you had a good stay and hope we may see you again sometime in the future. Our best wishes for a happy Christmas and good health through the New Year.
Extremely, comfortable, well equipped apartment
Had a wonderful stay in Nice. Found the apartment well situated and comfortable. The only concern was the stairs but as we usually were out the whole day did not have to go up and down them too many times.
Thanks Bea. Glad all went well and have to admit that, now we're in our late seventies, even we don't leap up and down the stairs quite so easily! Hope to see you again.
Fabulous stay, great location!
My daughter and I had an amazing 3 day stay in this charming home away from home. The apartment is exactly as the photos and description portray it. We loved the warm "feel" of it and the tasteful decor. The location was ideal, as we enjoyed the intimate neighbourhood vibe of the old city. All the amenities were appreciated (especially the power adapter needed for our devices). The place was clean and tidy and very well stocked with all that we needed. Bottled water and food basics were an added nice touch. Comfy bed, as well!
The entire experience was effortless from start to finish. Ken was quick to respond to my inquiries and was extremely helpful in guiding me through our first HomeAway endeavour. Anne Marie, the friendly property manager, met us at the apartment and showed us all we needed to know. Both Ken and Anne Marie were easy to contact and eager to make our stay enjoyable.
Having been to Nice a number of times, I would definitely recommend staying in the old city, as it offers a wonderful old world charm and a colourful, Mediterranean joie de vie. This apartment embodies the Nicoiçe experience. Local restaurants are affordable, with fantastic food. Shopping was convenient. Ice cream was delicious and the neighbourhood felt inviting and safe, both day and night. I'm already planning my next stay here!
Thanks for a great review Jan and we're delighted your brief visit went so well. We very much look forward to seeing you in Nice again and send our very best wishes to you and your daughter.
In a superb position, Rue Pairoliere is one of the main, pedestrianised shopping streets of the Old Town, where people come to shop from all over Nice. Tram and bus stops are just two minutes away with express coach connections direct to and from the airport (20 mins); the Museum of Modern Art, Natural History Museum and Acropolis Exhibition Centre all within easy walking distance. The Old Town houses many historical and beautiful buildings including the Opera, Palais de Justice, Lascaris Palace and the Cathedral Saint-Reparate on the famous Place Rossetti. The ancient Chateau on the hill provides stunning views over the Baie des Anges. From the port you can take ferries to Corsica, Saint Tropez and other destinations - or can just admire the yachts of the rich and famous. From the bus station - for just €1.50 - take a trip to Cannes, Monaco, Antibes or even up into the mountains to ski during the winter months! The daily markets on the Cours Salaya and the beach are just minutes away.
Other Activities: catch a ski bus (2 minutes away) up to the mountains
Ski: Take a bus (from outside the railway station) to Valberg or Isola 2000 - just 1.50€ each way - and ski for the day or stay for a couple of nights! The journey takes about one and a half hours through spectacular scenery and is worth the trip even if you don't ski!
