We bought it for 'us'. It's on the top floor - no lift - of a building occupied by 'Nicois' so you are really living where the locals live. We've tried to combine the old with the new, retaining the original 200 year old tomettes (floor tiles) and gnarled, timber beams but taking advantage of the conveniences of a modern kitchen and bathroom - and air conditioning! It's quiet, light and airy and there's plenty of room for four, plus a mezzanine in the bedroom that has a CD player and is an ideal area to 'chill out'. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, micro-wave, fridge freezer and washing machine. In the lounge there is cable TV and DVD player (plus a selection of DVD's, CD's and books) and free Wifi internet connection. If you don't fancy cooking you're spoilt with the choice of the superb range of restaurants just outside your door! Look at the photos for the rest... we don't think you'll be disappointed
One bedroom with mezzanine, accommodates four. Air conditioning, TV and wifi.

Love it !
We loved this well equipped apartment in a perfect location in the old town. There is a separate bedroom with firm bed and with kitchen big enough for a dinning table. Everything is provided for and the washing machine is a big bonus! Communication with Ken the owner was excellent and he provided a list of instructions. Anne Marie was perfect in settling us in and showing us how to do things in the apartment. There are many restaurants, bakeries, shops (Monoprix is 3 mins away) around the apartment, and it is 10 mins walk to Cours Saleya market and the promenade. I do suggest that you bring a smaller luggage bag for the walk up to the apartment (on the 5tt floor).
Thanks for your review Vincent. We’re delighted you enjoyed your visit to Nice and hope to see you again sometime. Very best wishes for your remaining travels.
We loved the experience of staying in Nice old town, in a property thay reflected the culture.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and very much hope to see you again sometime.
Lovely home from home right in the heart of old town Nice
We had a fantastic week in this apartment, with the windows open you can really feel the buzz of the shops and restaurants in the street below which we loved. The stairs were a bit of a struggle initially but we were practically sprinting up them by the end of the week! It's just a short walk to everywhere in Nice, 2 or 3 minutes to the main restaurant area, maybe 10 minutes to the seafront and a 10/15 minute stroll to the more commercial New Town with department stores and a few familiar chain stores. If you want to watch OCG Nice at the Allianz Riviera, the 95 bus runs every 10 minutes on match days starting 3 hours before kick off and the bus is free. There's a stop by the hospital, about 5 minutes from the apartment. The local buses are cheap and frequent with numerous stops within walking distance. The apartment itself is very well equipped and if you've forgotten to pack something, other than your clothes, I suspect Ken will have provided one in the apartment somewhere. There's everything from plug adapters to sun hats, toiletries, washing powder and even Marmite. The wifi is strong and there's a good selection of books and DVDs, we didn't use any of the appliances except the fridge and that chills very quickly. It's worth being aware that a rather loud gun goes off at noon each day because it will be a shock if you're not expecting it. We'd definitely return to Nice to visit the places we didn't get round to seeing this time, it's a beautiful area and I'd come back to this apartment if it was available. Thank you Ken for your advice and recommendations both before and during our time in your wonderful home.
Hi Shann. Thanks for the great review and we're delighted you had a good stay in Nice. Thanks for the useful information about the bus to the stadium. I'll include it in our future notes. Hope to see you again sometime in the not too distant future. Ken
Lovely flat in quaint street.
This flat had everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Set in the old town the owners were easy to contact and supplied items needed for a comfortable stay. Beautifully decorated its an old building but fully up to date with great shower, tv/dvd and wifi which worked perfectly. We also used the cooking facilities for breakfasts. Bedroom was comfortable & air conditioning was great. However i would warn that the flat is at the top of a steep winding staircase. We are in our mid 50,s and managed it ok but anyone with health problems or trouble with knees would fine it an issue. Really enjoyed Nice and again thanks to our hosts for an enjoyable stay.
Thanks for the great review. We are now in our late seventies and (while I won’t say the stairs get easier!) think the climb up to the apartment has helped to keep us active over the years! It’s also very good for the memory - you don’t forget much that you need to go back for!
Bonjour! This property is worthy of 10+***. It embodied all that the city of Nice and especially old town Nice had to offer: neat and tidy, comfortable, safe and secure, warm and inviting, quiet charm and confidence with amazing character. The location is indeed superb; I could walk to all the sites including shopping or take short bus/tram rides to great attractions and meet friendly and kind neighbours along the way in a divine neighbourhood that thrives on joy.
Anyone planning a visit to Nice, try to rent this outstanding property for the wonderful host, Ken, who provided excellent instructions prior to my stay, and his fabulous and approachable housekeeper, Annemarie who was helpful during my stay. They are a dynamic duo!
I intend to recommend all to family and friends. See the beaches beyond Nice, (Antibes, Cap Ferrat and Menton); take the bus and/or train to hilltop towns (Vence, Menton, and Tende); taste candied violets, rose jam, socca, barbajuan with lemon, panisse frite, pissaladiere, salade Nicoise, market fresh fruits from Liberation, tarte pomme (all tartes - sweet and savoury), morning breads from Cours Saleya, pizza and ice cream! Smell the jasmine air and other fragrant flowers, and with my limited French, connect with the people living their daily lives.
Thank you, Ken for allowing me to experience this beautiful blue coast from this home base.
Thank you so much for your lovely review and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much. We'd be delighted to welcome you, your family and friends back at any time. As you say, it's a lovely part of the world and Nice is an ideal base from which to explore it. With best wishes from us and hoping that we might see you again some time in the future. Ken & Anne-Marie.
Cosy apartment in brilliant location
We loved our stay at this quaint homely apartment. It is well set up and is located in the heart of the old town in Nice. Everything is close by: restaurants, shopping, supermarket, the ocean front promenade and buses if you wish to explore the gorgeous hilltop towns. We took local buses to Eze, St Paul de Vence, Vence, Grasse, St Jean Cap Ferrat and Villefranche Sur Mer. We enjoyed meals at lovely local restaurants, shopped in both the old town and in the main shopping area all an easy walk from the apartment.
Yes, there are LOTS of stairs to climb to reach the apartment but worth the climb for the location and ambience.
Anne Marie met us on arrival and was happy to answer all our questions.
She is only a phone call or text away and although only speaks French, she has a great translation app on her phone so communication was easy.
We would highly recommend this apartment and look forward to returning.
Hi Carolyn. Thanks for a lovely review and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Very much hope we'll see you again sometime in the future. Ken
In a superb position, Rue Pairoliere is one of the main, pedestrianised shopping streets of the Old Town, where people come to shop from all over Nice. Tram and bus stops are just two minutes away with express coach connections direct to and from the airport (20 mins); the Museum of Modern Art, Natural History Museum and Acropolis Exhibition Centre all within easy walking distance. The Old Town houses many historical and beautiful buildings including the Opera, Palais de Justice, Lascaris Palace and the Cathedral Saint-Reparate on the famous Place Rossetti. The ancient Chateau on the hill provides stunning views over the Baie des Anges. From the port you can take ferries to Corsica, Saint Tropez and other destinations - or can just admire the yachts of the rich and famous. From the bus station - for just €1.50 - take a trip to Cannes, Monaco, Antibes or even up into the mountains to ski during the winter months! The daily markets on the Cours Salaya and the beach are just minutes away.
Other Activities: catch a ski bus (2 minutes away) up to the mountains
Ski: Take a bus (from outside the railway station) to Valberg or Isola 2000 - just 1.50€ each way - and ski for the day or stay for a couple of nights! The journey takes about one and a half hours through spectacular scenery and is worth the trip even if you don't ski!
