In the centre of Ochi Rios, there is the popular Ochi Rios Bay Beach where many local people, day trippers from the cruise ships and holidaymakers visit. These beaches offer changing facilities and refreshments. We are very near Activities such has the 'Blue Hole and Wataland' a water theme park. Hi i am a woman in my forties with two young children. I was born and bred in London, in the UK. I have lived in the UK all my life attending school, college and university. My birth father is Jamaican descent who currently resides in the St Thomas parish in Jamaica. My birth mother is Kittian (St Kitts) and resides in London, UK.
I work in the profession of Social Work working with Children and Families. My job is challenging and demanding so towards the end of the year, I retreat to Jamaica with my sons for a well deserved break.
SHARON SIMON purchased this house in 2007
I purchased this house during a trip in May 2007 when the scheme was just a building site with only a few houses built with no residents. I purchased this property as i was 'tired and fed up' off staying with relatives whilst on vacation. I wanted my own space and independence and to have a place that i can call home with all my necessary comforts.
I was attracted to the area as i was very impressed with the many upscale properties in the area that you see whilst traveling on the North Coast Highway from Ochi Rios. I have stayed at various hotels situated in the area, so i was very familiar with the area. Huddersfield/Boscobel is in the parish of St Mary. The property is only a 15-20 minutes drive to Ochi Rios (10 KM) on a fairly new highway(No bad roads) which to me, was a blessing !!
There is a further small community literally a 5 minute walk from the property which has a variety of stores which has been very handy for me in terms of grocery shopping and buying a local meal of Curry Goat and Rice and Peas at the popular 'M & M Restaurant' next door to 'Savings Plus Supermarket'. If you fancy an alcoholic beverage, well there is numerous 'Rum Bars' and 'Sports Bar' Entertainment in this community is very good catering for the young and old. Many parties take place in this community with well known sound systems.
Did i mention the beaches? Well you can choose from at least four beaches from Ochi Rios towards Oracbessa. The nearest beach is a 10 minute walk right next to 'Cool Oasis Gas Station' at Rio Nuevro or literally a 5 minute drive to 'Marley Place' in Boscobel. A further 5 minute drive will take you to 'James Bond Beach in Oracabessa'.
24 Hour Security in the gated community.
Good transports links
Access to WIFI
Vibrant local community
I am an English woman in my 50's and travel to Sharon's house at least 1xs a year. As a White lady on my own, i feel totally safe in the area and is not afraid to venture out on my own to the beach, local river, shops and bars. In fact i walk everywhere and you be surprised how the locals know my name!!
As for the villa, the villa is what you see and looks better in the flesh...none of that drab dark wood furniture....property is clean, fresh and modern.
Ms B, the lady who looks after the property in Jamaica is friendly and knowledgeable. I often sit on her verendah in the evening and talk about good old England and the local gossip on the estate.
I was so amazed with my stay in this vila. It really is a home away from home! Everything was as stated in the villa description, such a beautiful, safe area. I have a 5 year old who loved it, every morning he ate his breakfast on the veranda and could run about outside without worrying. There were great facilities in the villa and everything was close to reach.
The property was very clean. When we arrived the Villa smelt fresh & clean with clean linen on the beds! A Nice clean bathroom to wash off after the long flight from england and a clean spacious kitchen to make a quick something to eat.
Sharon is very lovely & friendly, as it was my first time travelling to Jamaica she told me everything i needed to know and ensured i was ok with all the details. With any enquiry she got back to me ASAP!
I would recommend this property a 1000 times and more! I have already booked to come back! Such a nice, Secure & friendly area. Also very close to Ochi!
Thanks so much Sharon for all your help!
Cant wait to come back!
Love Hollie & Shenice.
As a couple looking for a rest and enjoyment we found the Emerald Estate just what we needed. It is tranquil and a nice friendly place to stay.
It is pleasant to see so much greenery not just near the Estate, also on the way to Ocho Rio, which is nearby. If you are looking for quiet beaches near to the Estate, there are 3 of them.
We found the Villa reasonably priced and the organisers very helpful indeed and available when you needed them. When we arrived at the house we were pleased with the lady who welcomed us, she was friendly and introduced us to the best way go around, including great places to go in Ocho Rio. The spacious Villa has a lot to offer, air conditioning in most rooms, clean, tidy, restful and is well maintained. We had no problems making ourselves at home. There is even a cleaning service, so we were well on our way to just relaxing. We had all the music and social media you could want, once you got the hang of getting Digicel at Digicel flow in Ocho Rio town centre, though I would say, buy a phone out there so that you can contact the people you need.
There is lots to do in Ocho Rio town centre and we loved going there, we were out every day, partying at the Dag and night, Oceans 11, John Crow, Mango lounge other rage bars galore, not to mention the many restaurants including Chinese ones etc.
We would definitely go back to the villa again and look forward to it.
my family and i stayed at this location for a week. it is in a wonderful area. close enough to the excitement but far enough away to be peaceful and undisturbed. the house itself is fantastic. large enough bedrooms with comfortable beds, yard space for the kids to play and ms. brown was just across the way if we needed anything. i would absolutely take my family here again. it was really a home away from home.
Wonderful place to stay, just a short 10/15 minute drive from bustling Ocho Rios. If you want a getaway within a quiet and secure family setting, then this us the place. Friendly and attentive owner, lovely property manager and a great set of neighbours. We really didn't want to leave!! Would rscommend to everyone.
Im currently finishing my week stay at this beautiful house. The booking process was easy. Sharon supplied me with plentiful information about the house, location and check in process. I'm a frequent traveler to Jamaica so this location is perfect for me! Its only a 10 minute drive to Ochi. Mrs. Brown made the check in process very easy and enjoyable! She is a very lovely woman! The community is peaceful but close enough to Ocho Rios if u crave a party. Its a nicely decorated house with everything you can possibly need. I love my stay at this house and will be booking again n the near future. Thank you for allowing my friends and I the chance to stay at your wonderful home!
The house was as described, we spotted it before we saw the door number. The booking process and check in were both simple and stress free, the house was clean and welcoming. Very spacy with clean well lookd after outside space. The house manager was nice and helpful. Spacey open plan kitchen so I could watch my boys and tv whilst cooking. Lovely hot water pressure, ac and fans.
The house had books and board games, a music center for cds.
Staff and the frot gate were friendly and added to safety. A taxi outside the gate was always available and cost $150JMD either way to Ocho Rios or Oracabessa, less for children.
Rio Nouvo beach and just a short drive away behind the Cool Oasis gas station.
This propery comes highly recommended for our family.
