In the tranquil Smith's Sound between the St. Davids island and Smith's island, lies the secluded Oswego Island. The 3.2 acre island is the perfect respite to enjoy the simple pleasures of island living.
Oswego house is the ideal place to relax and enjoy paradise with all the comforts of home. Uniquely designed by the award-winning architect Jacob Hocking of CTX, the home is combined of old and new features, and is a pleasing marriage of traditional Bermudian architecture with contemporary modern design. Designed to let the outdoors in, the brand new three bedroom dwelling boasts natural water views, more than ample porch space and an open-plan. The fluid design together with retractable folding doors allow for the gentle island breeze to flow endlessly throughout the whole house. At least a week's stay is recommended to totally relax, unwind and thoroughly enjoy Oswego Island.
Bring your own boat up to 100 ft and keep it at the north dock while your guests stay in the house.(see photos)
My husband and I came to this beautiful island for our 5 year anniversary. Oswego house is absolutely gorgeous! Every morning we ate breakfast out on the patio that overlooks the ocean and beautiful landscaping. Our room was extremely comfortable, clean and very peaceful. Everyday we were taken out for an adventure! We went cliff jumping, snorkeling over the reefs, relaxed at private beaches, and kayaking. The water is calm, warm and crystal clear. We felt very safe and comfortable the entire trip and they always made sure we were having a good time. We got to feel like true bermudians going to all the secret beaches. You could never get the same experience going to a hotel and booking activities separately. We will definitely be back again very soon!
One of the most relaxing few days you could ever have, quiet, comfort, and beauty
If living on your own private island, in a stunning home, with use of a boat to give you quick access to all that Bermuda has to offer is your idea of a dream vacation then this private Oswego Island rental is for you. Geoffrey, the owner and his team are always at hand for any needs you have, and as long as you are comfortable operating a small motor boat than don't miss this awesome experience.
My trip to Oswego was a fabulous surprise planned by my husband who worked closely with Geoffrey to make sure everything was in place and organised for our arrival.
The island is simply stunning. It's a short hop from St. Georges on Geoffrey's boat if you're not bringing your own boat and at about 3 acres, is tucked away between St Davids and Smith's Islands. The gorgeous dock leads to a path through the spice trees where the lovely Jacob Hocking designed home sits commanding uninterrupted views out towards Smiths' Island and the open ocean.
The open plan design of the home is perfect for entertaining with a fabulous porch with doors that fold right back to create a lovely open and airy space.
This is the perfect retreat to totally decompress. Days were spent reading in the hammock, kayaking round the island and enjoying the peace and tranquility with our friends.
Geoffrey was on hand on the "mainland" whenever we needed him and was always helpful and polite and great to work with. He organised a great chef for my birthday dinner, a masseuse and a lovely sailboat to take us out for a few hours.
I would love to go back, really soon!!!
A vacation rental is always an adventure especially if the place you are renting is the only home on a private 3 acre island in the middle of paradise!
Putting it mildly, Oswego House on Oswego Island in Bermuda is by far the most luxurious home we’ve ever rented. Every detail of this luxury island gem was meticulously thought out. From the breath-taking views of the open air porch to the spacious contemporary design of the state-of-the-art restaurant style kitchen to the 5 star master bathrooms, this place has to be seen to be believed. At every turn, you can feel the perfect combination of architecture and design at work to make this home a complete work of art.
Getting around was exciting and fun. As a novice boater, I found this part of our vacation to be remarkably easy. Navigating the calm waters of Smith’s Sound and getting to the market or the beach was way more fun than I thought it would be. The water ways are not crowded and even with my little to no experience, I felt very comfortable taking the small Boston Whaler out an about wherever we needed to go. Whenever we felt apprehensive or wanted to explore beyond our boating comfort zone, the amazing Oswego staff were there at the ready.
One of the main reasons our stay was so enjoyable and relaxing was due to the gracious Oswego staff. They go far and above to make you and your guests feel more like family than visitors. Fishing trips, family excursions, gourmet in-home prepared meals, water and ground transportation are just some of the services that the Oswego staff can provide. They customize your stay around the things you and your guests need and enjoy doing. It’s absolutely perfect in every way!
So, if you are looking for an unforgettable unique vacation and want to experience Bermuda like the native islanders do every day, Oswego House on Oswego Island is your perfect destination.
