Why Richard chose Shenandoah Valley

We purchased this home because it reminded us of the family cabins that we grew up with in California. Our kids love the outdoors and Massanutten provides the perfect base camp for exploring the George Washington and Shenandoah National Forests.

What makes this cabin unique

We have remodeled our cabin to meet the needs of two families. The large dinning room table comfortably seats 10 and the bunkhouse provides a great place for the kids to hangout while the adults visit upstairs in front of the gas fireplace.

Lots of stairs to get up to the house but makes good exercise. Well maintained and comfortable furnishing.

The house was very roomy and fit us perfect. The grandkids enjoyed the downstairs and had a wonderful fine outside. The view was great. We loved all the openness with the wonderful doors and windows. Thanks so much for sharing.

Fantastic Property - Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over 4th of July week and had a fantastic time. The property is amazing and the views are breathtaking. The boys loved the bunk beds and having a space to themselves. The dining room table was wonderful and we had many great meals there. There are so many extras - pillows, blankets, sheets and towels. They also had pantry items on hand that I did not expect and had packed (foil, salt, pepper, spices, oil, sugar, flour, etc.). I can't guarantee these items are always there, but there were definitely more items than I expected. The location is great and so convenient to the many activities available on the resort. I highly recommend this property.

A great stay, overall

  • 4 of 5

We rented this cabin for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and it was a great fit. The resort had plenty of kid friendly activities (at extra cost) for my niece and nephew such as an indoor/outdoor waterpark, mini-golf and swimming pools. There's also golf and tennis and other resort activities available. The location was a good jumping off point for going to Harrisonburg and Skyline Drive, with grocery stores and restaurants within a 30 minute drive. The resort is private and has it's own police force, so we felt quite safe while staying there. The stairway up is quite steep but the cabin is very nice, with a wonderful view of the mountains from the large front deck. The main floor has a bedroom, with an unconnected bath, a small den with a gas fireplace and television, stereo, a picnic-style dining table with a bench on one side and chairs on the other, a small, well equipped kitchen and screen doors to the porch/deck. The upstairs has two bedrooms and a bath, and the downstairs "cubs cave" has four bunks, a gaming tv with games, a wet bar and fridge, and a large bathroom with a shower and tub, which seemed more appropriate for a master than for the kids. The lower deck, like the main floor, has sliding glass doors and screened doors. I only have a few criticisms. When we arrived the heat was on and it was 82 degrees in the cabin. The single heat pump unit had a very difficult time lowering the temperature significantly before we turned in for the night. For sure, the temperature had gone up that weekend with highs from the 60's to the 80's but we arrived later (after 5 pm) and figured the property manager perhaps should have made sure the cabin was ready for occupancy. There were ceiling fans in the den area and the main floor bedroom, but they weren't very effective. The upstairs was particularly uncomfortable so we had to open the windows. This was in stark contrast to the lower level "cubs cave" which was downright chilly. The kids had to sleep with blankets to be comfortable. Second, the information email we received indicated that the wi-fi was not password protected when it was. It was easily resolved with a call to the property manager the next morning, but it was a minor annoyance. Finally, there were several outdoor lights that were out (I scrounged one from the laundry) and I had to purchase some grill tools to clean the grill. Nevertheless, we greatly enjoyed our stay and we want to thank Richard for sharing his cabin.

Wonderful Week on Massanutten Mountain

  • 5 of 5

What a GREAT place!! We enjoyed everything about the house and the area. The separately created living spaces made it easy

to have different activities going on at the same time. The Large Dining Table and bar stools made it easy and comfortable

the night we had a large gathering over for seafood. I am confident we will be back next spring..if not sooner.

Thanks for a wonderful memory not soon to be forgotten.

Great choice!

  • 4 of 5

The house was plenty big. Beautiful views from every room. Home was clean and had all the things one would need on a vacation. Downstairs pics don't do it justice; it's huge! Definitely going back.
