Why Richard chose Shenandoah Valley

We purchased this home because it reminded us of the family cabins that we grew up with in California. Our kids love the outdoors and Massanutten provides the perfect base camp for exploring the George Washington and Shenandoah National Forests.

What makes this cabin unique

We have remodeled our cabin to meet the needs of two families. The large dinning room table comfortably seats 10 and the bunkhouse provides a great place for the kids to hangout while the adults visit upstairs in front of the gas fireplace.

Beautiful view, comfortable stay

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the gorgeous mountain views. The kitchen is very well stocked, and the furniture is very comfortable, especially the leather couches and beds. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because it really needs a deep clean. It was surface cleaned, but the oven was filthy, the bathroom rug and wall were dirty, and there were crumbs in the kitchen drawers. The dishwasher was also full when we got there- clean, but full, so I had to put dishes away. There were also 3 light bulbs burned out in the master bedroom. Once this house is deep cleaned, it is the perfect place to stay! Great location, floor plan, views, and very comfortable.

Great choice in massanutten

  • 5 of 5

The house worked out great for our weekend with two families. The layout is perfect for that. The downstairs bunk room is large and the kids really enjoyed it. And adults enjoyed being able to hang out in comfortable den upstairs. Kitchen is very well stocked, tvs are good, furniture is nicer than most rentals, and it really has all the comforts of home. Not walkable to slopes, but less than 5 minutes driving down the hill. Owner was very responsive and we would definitely rent again.

Well maintained home

  • 5 of 5

The home was very good and well maintained. We all enjoyed our stay. There were enough movies/books available for kids and adults. The surround sound system was a big plus. It’s very nearer to lots of activities.

Beautiful View of the resort

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time staying at this property and it definitely surpassed my expectations!

Despite many "warnings" about the number of stairs, it wasn't all that bad for us. The view from the house/deck was breathtaking and some of our family members were totally content while enjoying the view when the weather didn't allow us to go outdoors one of the days we were there due to freezing rain.

The entire process from making reservation and checking in to check-out was a breeze. I had a minor issue with getting the fireplace to start (I accidentally turned off the pilot, and couldn't figure out how to turn it back on), and the local property manager was able to describe the process over the phone and we were good to go! The house had way more supplies available than I thought. They even had laundry detergent and dishwashing soap available (this was one of my questions before arriving to the place).

It was very spacious for our family of 8 with room to spare. We will definitely come back to this property when we are back at Massanutten. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful place!

Lovely mountain get-away

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed this beautiful mountain home . There was good group space on the second floor to play charades and do our annual jigsaw puzzle and then lots of private space to go off to bedrooms which is helpful when you have lots of people. The beds were comfy and the fuzzy throws on the couch were a great touch. The place had a very warm and homey feel , right down to Christmas decorations in the living room .

The climb up the steps from the driveway to get to the house and turning the car nearly 160 degrees to get into the driveway to park were a bit tricky : had thought of inviting some other friends to join us but glad I didn't as those steps would have been daunting for anyone who uses a cane or has mobility issues such as they have .

The other negative was the toilets . The one on the 3rd floor stopped up four times during our four day stay even though we were careful to not use too much toilet paper . At one point I thought we were going to have to call for help but eventually with hot water and a lot of plunging by two different people if finally got unstuck . By the last day we just had everyone on the third floor walk downstairs to do their business as just got too frustrating to keep plunging .

But other than the steps and the toilet issue the place was great.

Really liked being so close to the slopes and tubing areas. And the one day that was too warm to ski we went to the indoor water park , which was great to have for the kids. Went out to Ciro's to eat the first night we were there and liked it so much that 2 days later took some other friends there for dinner .

Overall a great place for a vacation
