About Brian Bowling

The owners live only two hours away in Atlanta, GA and enjoy many family weekends on the lake boating, water skiing, fishing and canoeing throughout the year. We love the lake lifestyle and local antique shops, and the Carolina BBQ is fantastic.

Brian Bowling purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Brian Bowling chose Hartwell Lake

We have two young boys and wanted to build great memories with them of weekends on the lake - learning to fish, ski, paddle a canoe, sail, build a campfire, etc. we also wanted a rustic cabin feel that was a complete getaway from the busy streets and planned neighborhoods of Atlanta, but we wanted to be within two hours of our home so we can enjoy the lake often. Stillwater is the perfect lake house for our family.

Relaxing and Comfortable Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We chose this house on Lake Hartwell for our family vacation this past August and have to say we had a very relaxing and fun time. The house itself is extremely comfortable and was not lacking in anything that we can think of. We really liked the layout of the house in that the kitchen/living/dining room was an open floor plan with the sliding glass doors facing the lake. We brought our boat with us and were able to tie it to the dock so it was easily accessible. This was really nice as we spent a large portion of our time at the dock and out in the water. The cove itself was very quiet, there were probably about ten boats total that came past our dock during the week.

We ventured out for a couple of activities, both of which we would recommend. The first was ziplining at Chattooga Ridge Canopy Rides in Long Creek (wild water adventure centers). And the second was Brasstown Falls (there are 4 different waterfalls to hike to) off of Highway 76 west of Westminster.

One other recommendation would be getting some steak at the restaurant called The Grillman...and definitely try their homemade cheesecake :)

We thank the owners for sharing their place with us, and appreciate their help with questions prior to our arrival. We had a fun time and would most definitely recommend this vacation home.
