The property is a brick dwelling with three bedrooms, an open plan, light filled living space taking full advantage of the view. There's a brand new bathroom and upgraded kitchen. It's newly painted inside and out so clean and fresh. This is a child-friendly, pet friendly holiday home, about five minutes drive from Pambula Beach, ten minutes from Eden and/or Merimbula beach. A place to relax. Kangaroos and beautiful parrots and other birds visit daily.

About Jeannette Kavanagh

I work as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor in Yarraville, a suburb in Melbourne's west. It's the friendliest place I've lived in since coming to Australia from Dublin and I love it. My interests are broad but my greatest one is reading - more than Twitter feeds. I may be one of the last people to remain unaddicted to the thief of our focus and time, the so-called Smartphone. Of course I love spending time in what I call Paradise, the Sapphire Coast of NSW. My place in Broadwater NSW 2549 - there's more than one Broadwater. It overlooks Pambula Lake and feeds my sense of peace and tranquillity. I enjoy travelling to Europe, to my homeland Ireland and that of my husband, Greece. Paris is the most beautiful city I've ever seen and I've always found French people to be warm, welcoming and patient with my French which gets rusty through non-use.

Why Jeannette Kavanagh chose Bega Valley Shire Council

The reasons for buying this property are simple. I didn't even look at the house on it. I bought the million dollar view. I plan to build on the five acres when I retire. The property was rented out to various families until I reclaimed it in 2014, as our go-to place for getaways with family and friends. I have a photo of the view from the living area as wallpaper on my laptop. No photo can do it justice but it's uplifting to see it.

What makes this house unique

You're not going to be awestruck by the architecture! This is a simple brick cottage. You'll love the sunny outlook, the clean and spacious bedrooms, the newly renovated bathroom and kitchen. It has that 'holiday house' feel to it. Nothing precious - a place in which to relax and revive your spirit.

The place is all about the view.

So much so that I had new floor to ceiling sliding doors installed to take full advantage of the view from everywhere in the living area.

No, it's not right on the beach front but that's what I love. I have the privacy, the quiet tranquility of the birds and the kangaroos and other animals without the noise of the other humans.

A tranquil location where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Broadwater, interacting with nature whilst tasting local delicacies like Broadwater Oysters and Longstocking Pale Ale. Fantastic location to explore the surrounding areas of Bega, Eden, Tilba Tilba and Tathra.

All homily comforts for Man and Dogs!

Very laid back, comfortable place with all the creature comforts of home. Thanks Jeannette for the beautiful bottle of wine as a welcome present. We were concerned about the lack of a front fence, but the dogs enjoyed running in the front paddock and it was perfectly safe for them. Recommend oysters from Pambula and the ambience of the property is perfect for a relaxing holiday.

If you are looking to relax recharge and press reset then this holiday house is for you

I loved Thistle Dome so much, I just didn't want to leave. The property was everything I thought it would be. What I noticed the most is the tranquillity and peacefulness of the place. I could sit for hours just watching the lake and admiring the view. If you need a holiday to recharge and press reset then this is your destination. The hospitality was outstanding. I arrived after a 5 hour drive to a beautiful bottle of champagne, cheese and biscuits and a dog bed and bowl for my travelling companion Bob. The shower is up there with the best I have ever had, the beds are incredibly comfortable and for the coffee and tea fanatics - there is a coffee machine with pods, plunger coffee, loose tea leaves and a tea pot. Whilst the property is out of town you are not more than 10 mins from most things, Eden, Pambula and the beaches. I loved every bit of my stay and I will be back on a regular basis.
