Truly enjoying your beautiful home here. It is so light, airy, and clean.
Today we braved taking out the kayak. Had a great time with it. Thanks.
The river is so crystal clear. Lots of things to do here. We are really
busy doing biking, fair, air boat ride, etc. Taking the tips you sent re
the beaches and surrounding area
We arrived to find the house neat and clean. There was plenty of room for my wife, daughter and son in law. The pier was like new and comfortable. We saw manatees that afternoon by the pier. We took the kayaks to the river and up stream towards the springs but couldn't quite make it all the way. On our way back we saw 2 manatee in the river and 5 in the canal (very cool). The only down side was the 2 person kayak. It was quite cramped for my wife and I two more 1 person kayaks would have been better. That being said we would not
Wonderful mullet-filled stay! When we first arrived, we were so happy to see all the wildlife: herons, cormorants Hawks, a flock of white ibis in the yard, and plenty of high-jumping mullet entertained the kids. The neighbors were quiet and considerate. It seemed like a closely-knit community who looks out for each other.
The home had plenty of space for two cousins play. Beds were comfortable as well, and very clean. We enjoyed dining on the upper deck with its great views and breezes.
The kitchen was well-appointed and in good working order, as we're bathrooms. We had plenty of clean linens and towels. There was even a night light in the bedroom, which was helpful for us and the little ones.
We were able to take a kayak out and enjoyed paddling around the canal. Next time I'm sure we will spend more time on the water. Weeki Watchi Springs state park is just a few minutes away, and was a nice trip, perfect for younger kids: much smaller than the Orlando attractions, but very nice, and we were able to see everything in under three hours.
Thank you so much for having us, Kary! This was such a relaxing trip for us. We would love to come back with my husband, if you will have us back!
This home had everything you would want in a vacation rental. The property is well maintained, the home is clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with most everything you might need for cooking at home. The home is on the canal which leads to the Weeki Wachee river. It is about a 20-minute easy paddle. Once you are on the river you can swim in crystal clear cool water. The kayaks are a bonus and were used every day. Our grandchildren loved going out on the river. We even had a manatee and her babies come up to the dock. What a great experience and would love to go return. The only drawback was some confusion as to when was check-in and check out and I had trouble accessing the web page on VRBO once we had booked.
At first impression I felt the neighbors were a little close to one another. However, when you're actually inside the property it feels different somehow. You're raised above the neighbors because of the stilts and the railing of the porch /deck does provide an illusion of privacy. When I first walked in I was immediately satisfied with the place. Nothing fancy but was for sure acceptable. I believe some furniture had been updated since the photos that were posted.. I just remember it being nicer than what I was expecting. I woke up every morning to manatees in the canal, The Kayaks were perfect, the paddle to the actual river isn't horrible.. overall it's just a great place for a great price. I even checked the app calendar to see if I would be able to book additional nights while I was there. Unfortunately not though. Apparently the word is out. I definitely didn't want to leave after my stay and would for sure consider booking this place again
My wife attended the August 2016 Weeki Wachee mermaids "sirens of the deep" camp. Was a present to her from me back at Christmas time and was just always something she really wanted to do. This house was only like 7-10 minutes from the Weeki Wachee state park where the mermaids perform at and is also only 10-15 minutes from the beach. We really liked staying here and enjoyed exploring the area. I must say, I was VERY impressed with the owners. They always responded to any questions we had quickly and they were very accomodating to us and provided lots of helpful information about things to do in the area. I would definitely stay again!
Weeki Wachee Springs Water Park and Mermaid Show, Freshwater Fishing on-site, Saltwater Fishing nearby, Swimming on site and at the renowned Pine Island Beach (2 miles), The Orlando Theme Parks are an hours drive away, as are the attractions of Clearwater and St, Petes, whilst Homosassa State Wildlife Park is only twenty miles distant
