Casa Gialla is the perfect place for those who seek a relaxing getaway in Sicily.
In Mangano, a village at 1 km from the house, you can find a bakery and grocery stores. The beach of Praiola is 6 km away and small fishermen's villages such as Santa Maria la Scala, Torre Archirafi and AciTrezza are all in a short drive and have very good restaurants. Taormina and the sandy beach of Giardini Naxos are at 25 km.
Thanks to the presence of a fireplace and air-conditioning (warm/cold), Casa Gialla offers a pleasant stay also during the few cold weeks of the short Sicilian winter.
We have been with Homeaway since 2006, proposing houses that are able to unfold Sicily's colours and charm at best.
Houses with quality furnishing in unique locations, with incredible views or with a pool, always accurately selected in order to satisfy our main wish: to see you falling in love with Sicily just like we did.
We provide you with transparent information and true pictures. What you see is exactly what you get. We will advise you as much as we can about travel info, transfers and car rental.
Dinners in villas and other extra services can also be arranged. Finally, our prices are final rates! There are no hidden additional costs. We are flexible with your arrivals and departures and if you need a late check-in this is usually possible.
My wife and I spent 2 weeks at this house, our first time in Sicily. We had no issues finding the property, the owners were there to greet us. The listing is as advertised, although we didn't realize from the photos that the kitchen and living room are combined. The house is bright with excellent views all around. Being in a lemon orchard, the area is very peaceful but at the same time close to everything (grocery store, restaurants, shops, etc...). We had minor issues with the hot water supply but the owners responded immediatly and fixed the problem. We would recommend this property as it is great value and well located and easy to access.
I visited this place just by chance, because some friends of mine invited me to a party there, then I decided to stay for the night. I can just say I LOVED IT! This place gave me a flavour of ancient memories and just one day there offered me a feeling of total peace after months of working abroad. However, I also wanted to say that I met Melo (the dog), I dunno how his cage was before, but the one I saw is definitely big enough for him. In the morning I saw the owner picking him up for a sea trip and he was so so happy, that's why I took the chance to join them and swim in the beautiful beach of Fondachello. I don't agree with the previous review, he lives in an amazing environment with lemon trees and wonderful views, I honestly say that I would rather have my dogs living there smelling pure air, than in the apartment with me suffering heat and having just the toilet to explore! I SUGGEST THIS PLACE, will definitely go back there again!
I agree, the house is comfortable, the views stunning - stright to Etna, lemon trees all around. The hosts nice and helpful.
But there is one thing that disturbs this idyllic atmosphere... A big young DOG in a very SMALL CAGE, uder the lemon trees. He stays there all day, barking, no - crying. The owner takes him out for a short walk only once a day (!!!). I talked to the hosts several times, asking them to do something about it, something to make Melo's (that's his name) life better. They promissed to make his cage bigger and I to send me photos of Melo's new house. But they didn't so far.
So please anyone, if you were at Casa Gialla after 14th. of June 2015, let me know if anything changed in the poor dog's life (write here or at email@example.com). Until that I can only say, that IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS, DON'T GO TO CASA GIALLA!!!
The casa is in a beautiful setting in the middle of a lemon orchard. The bird song and the occasional church bells are the main sounds here. The lemon fragrance drifting in the house was heavenly. Views of Etna were amazing and change from day to day. If you want quiet secluded location, this is for you. I came here with my son so we had plenty of room for ourselves. Everything is advertised. No hidden problems. A lovely place to be. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. The only negative is that the kitchen area lacks preparation, washing up and drying areas so you need to work together! Hope to return again.
Four of us decided to go walking in Sicily and found this beautifully located house. The views were inspiring: Etna to the right, the sea to the left and surrounded by lemon groves. We were invited to pick our own lemons and oranges - a real treat. We travelled each day to various national parks for long walks - the house is well located near the motorway (10 mins) but is still very peaceful. There is plenty of space (4 bedrooms, 3 showers) although not really enough room to all sit comfortably by the (very welcome) fire. It was still chilly in the evenings when we were there but in the summer that would be no problem as there is loads of room on the terrace. The house offered everything we needed as an excellent base for our first visit to Sicily and the owners were helpful and friendly. We pre ordered a meal on the first night which was delicious.
Casa Gialla is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The house lies halfway between Catania and Taormina and just 7 kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Gardini Naxos, a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches, is just 25 kilometres away. Beside it we find Taormina ‘the pearl of the Mediterranean’ and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic views. Santa Maria la Scala and Aci Trezza are pleasant seaside villages nearby. In the village Santa Tecla, a few kilometres from Praiola, is the renown, but quiet cheap, fish restaurant “Da Lorenzo”. 3 km from the house is the big supermarket 'Conforama'. 1 km from the house is Mangano, a town with several shops and a bakery.
