Come enjoy this home that combines the charm of the 19th century with the conveniences of the 21st. The first floor features a large living room, library, dining room, bathroom and a huge kitchen/family room with a wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped to allow for cooking holiday meals for many, or romantic meals for two. Upstairs there are four bedrooms: a very large master suite with en suite bath and ample closets, one bedroom with a single twin bed, one bedroom with a pair of twin beds (both share a hallway bathroom), and a bedroom with a queen bed and en suite bath. All beds have high quality 100% cotton sheets and down comforters and pillows. There is also a laundry room on the second floor. The attic has been converted into one large playroom with a very large flat screen tv and comfortable seating for watching movies. The house has central air conditioning, cable television and wireless internet. There is a large garden with established perennial beds, a climbing frame, teak garden chairs and a grill. There is off street parking for several cars.
The house is located one block from the Woodstock Village Green, very easy walking distance to all the town's restaurants, shops and cultural attractions including the Pentangle Arts Center, the town library and the town recreational center that features two outdoor swimming pools, a basketball court and an indoor fitness center that is open to the public for a very reasonable fee. The Woodstock Inn is a five minute walk from the house across the Village Green. In the summer the Village Green hosts a weekly farmers' market and concerts. The five acre Faulkner Park is at the end of the street. The park serves as a trail head for the hiking trails of Mount Tom, a 500 acre preserved forest. You can also connect from there to the Appalachian Trail for longer, more ambitious hikes.
I first came to Woodstock as a child, spending many happy vacations cross country skiing in the area. About ten years ago my parents bought a house in the area and I started to visit on a regular basis with my husband and our three children. We fell in love with Woodstock and started looking for a house. When this house came on the market, we jumped at the opportunity to own a house that is right in the heart of town, but also on a very quiet street and just steps from hiking trails that go for hundreds of miles. We love to ski at Suicide Six in the winter and hike up Mount Tom in the summer. The town has great dining options, from Pi and White Cottage for the kids to The Prince and the Pauper for a grown up night out. The movie theater has a nice selection of films and we greatly enjoy the town library and swimming at the Recreation Center in the summer. Woodstock really is fun for the whole family.

We love our house because it is a beautiful old house that has been updated to allow for 21st century life, in particular we love that it is easy to cook big meals for a crowd. As the cook of the family I like that the kitchen is in the heart of the action, with huge counters and great appliances that make it easy and fun to entertain. We recently renovated the attic to provide another large room with a large flat screen television and comfortable seating for relaxing after a fun day outdoors, or another place to watch a movie or read a book when the weather is less than ideal.
Kitchen is best equipped we ever found in a rental. The house was clean and tidy when we arrived. For those with kids there lots of books, games, etc. we definitely would recommend.
Each year my family and I travel to Woodstock so we have stayed in our fair share of homes. By far and away this is one the best for several reasons! As others have mentioned the pictures do not do this home justice. It is a perfect blend of historical Woodstock with all the modern style and amenities you could ask for. Our group loved, loved the layout of the kitchen/ living area. In fact we gathered in this area most the time even though there are 2 other sitting rooms that were super comfy as well. It was large enough for all to lounge, cook and talk without being on top of each other. There is an amazing porch along side the kitchen area that was fantastic for night time chats and just taking in the nature that surrounds the home. The master suite is comfortable, huge and stylish and offers complete privacy. The other bedrooms are well positioned for their respective privacy as well. Located just over a classic Vermont covered bridge off the green, this home offers peace and quiet but is within a very short walk to downtown Woodstock where you can take advantage of all the quaint shops and restaurants. Look no further, this is a real gem and will provide everything you are looking for and more. Sophie the owner is very responsive when booking and will be sure you have everything you need. Kelly, the caretaker stopped by on night one to be sure we were settled in...great personal touch! Thanks Sophie, we hope to be back next year!
Woodstock is a charming location and the home was beyond excellent. Our family group of 5, ages 80 to 15 had freedom to hike, dine well at local restaurants and relax. Can walk to town easily where there is a great gourmet grocery and butcher. You will really want to prepare a few meals in the fabulous kitchen. Highly recommend!
Three couples shared this house for a week. It was roomy enough so we each could have some privacy. It was well-equipped throughout with an open kitchen and modern appliances. On a quiet residential street but only two blocks from the village green and local shops. This is a very comfortable home in a charming town and a quality rental. JM
I rented this house on Homeaway for three couples who drove up from NY to attend my daughters wedding at the Woodstock Inn. I have to be honest, I was a bit nervous renting a place sight unseen, but all my fears quickly dissipated as soon as I walked in. The pictures on the web site simply do not do this home justice. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked. The bedrooms are spacious, but there is a nice common area as well. My only regret is that I couldn't stay there myself. I highly recommend this rental property. You won't be disappointed.
Our family was in Woodstock to attend our son's wedding. This house was the perfect place to stay because it was within walking distance to the church, reception site and the Village. It is also close to Faulkner Park for hiking up to the Pogue. The kitchen, dining area and family room/great room were perfect for spending time before and after the wedding. The kitchen, in particular, was very well equipped and the owners thoughtfully labeled the cabinets and drawers inside so that whoever was in the kitchen could find various items. The other rooms downstairs (dining room, television room and living room) provided perfect spaces for reading books and quiet conversations. The bedrooms and bathrooms were charming and comfortable and there were plenty of towels available. The side porch and backyard are particularly inviting. We enthusiastically recommend this house. The owners and their caretaker were helpful and accessible.
