I am a real estate broker in New York City where I live during the week but cherish my weekends and holidays in the Hudson Valley. I discovered the area in the summer of 2004 when I rented a guest house for 3 months but come the fall I missed it so much I decided I needed to have something more permanent up there. I'm always sad leaving but I return to the city re-energized and serene.
Roxana Dorneanu purchased this chateau / country house in 2004
I had seen about 50 houses before I found this one. Being in the business I am very selective. I had driven up from the city that morning and had arrived early, before the listing broker had gotten there. I was so enchanted by the sound of the river and also the layout of the house. I LOVED the large kitchen as I love to cook; the double oven (had 14 people over for Thanksgiving that year) and the fact that it can accommodate a couch. I love having a couch in the kitchen.
Lounging on the deck listening to the river is incredibly soothing. Sleeping with the windows open in the summer is magical. I also like being close to the Taconic as I use the house year round and when the snow is heavy, it's nice to get home fairly quickly.
We had a great time. The location was perfect. We were able to enjoy the area in all directions. Our guests enjoyed breakfast each morning on the deck. Roxana quickly responded to our needs with pleasure. We will return.
We stayed at Roxanna's lovely, secluded vacation home while attending our daughter's graduation from Bard. Roxanna was most attentive to our every need and extremely accommodating. The home offers everything one could want and we returned home rested and restored. We would definitely love to stay here again if we are in the vicinity!
My sisters and I stay for the Country Living Fair. We had a great time. The place was clean and organize. Very comfortable. The owner has a folder that states where everything is. She was also very accommodating. We will recommend this place again.
My family and I rented out this house for our daughter's graduation weekend. It was a great, clean space with plenty of room for all of us. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and relaxing on the big deck. Roxana was very accommodating and helpful. I would recommend her home to others who are looking to visit the Hudson Valley.
We had a great experience staying at the house. Very clean, well maintained and a very cozy living room. We will be back!
Family went for few days - we very much enjoyed the stay. The house was very nicely appointed and the spacious deck was great. Roxana was a pleasure to deal with; she has such a great book collection - great for perusing. Very clean house. Peaceful setting.
