Nina purchased this house in 2017

Why Nina chose Lavardin

Built of original white tuffeau stone, the house ( the original village bakery) is set in a charming heritage-listed village, dominated by an old ruined chateau dating back to the 11th century, and with a gorgeous church featuring frescoes dating back to the Crusades. Nearby is Vendome , accessible by TGV fro Paris within 45 minutes. Set on Le Loir, a tributary of La Loire, the village is in great driving distance from magnificent chateaus, from canoeing, swimming and vineyards. The house has a charming courtyard to relax in on balmy evenings with a glass of wine or a gin and tonic and a BBQ also. Don't feel like cooking? It's near a range of restaurants ( from gourmand, to local style, to pizza) and there is a public swimming pool just five minutes away. There is a local market every Wednesday and Saturday in the township 5 minutes away and this also offers, post office, banks, petrol and supermarkets

What makes this house unique

Very central to all the delights of the Loire Valley, the house is deceptively spacious and very well appointed with hosts who live nearby happy to help in any way. Cool in the summer and snug in the winter. We are happy to assist with a shopping list if you would like specific things in the house - payable on your arrival but there are always basic courtesy supplies to get you started. We are always there to meet you, show you through and answer any questions.

Notes:
The house has been decorated with charm and a sense of fun, designed to make you feel you are in your home away from home. The village itself is delightful, with a gorgeous church ( including amazing 15th C. frescoes) , an old chateau to explore ( dating back to the 11th C.), numerous troglodyte caves, and an amazing view if you climb the path just around the corner of the house up to occupied troglodyte houses above. The village has a casual restaurant in the summer and a bread depot open every morning. It is close to a larger township with several supermarkets, petrol, PO, restaurants & markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is about 45 minutes delightful drive from chateaus and from special adventures such as the zoo at Beauval and the Maison de Magie at Blois (with a history of magic - only one other like it in the world). Amboise offers the ancient chateau of the kings + Close de Luce where Leonardo da Vinci lived & died ( with models of his amazing designs), balloon flights
