Make this charming 1858 townhouse the central location for your next family gathering, friend get-together or business retreat. Stay in this historic home, enjoy the quiet street, then walk one block to city life. Enjoy the Eastern Market/Barracks Row/Nationals Stadium neighborhood or jump on Metro to explore the sights. House is spacious, comfortable and contains all amenities. Watch a movie on the 60' flat screen TV (one of 4 flat screen TVs in the house, surf the net on the speedy Wifi, or BBQ in the backyard. This is the perfect house take advantage of all the city has to offer and relax when you get home!

About Dia Michels

I moved to Washington DC in 1980 to save the world. Unfortunately, the world could still use quite a bit of help! I, however, fell in love with DC and never left. I met my husband in 1981 and we have lived here ever since. This home was our first house in DC. We currently live in a larger and newer (1905) townhouse in the same neighborhood. We fell in love with Capitol Hill and have raised our three kids here. We love the area and want to share it with others.

Why Dia Michels chose Washington DC

This 1858 charming home is from the Civil War era. The house has been totally upgraded with an open layout, 4 flat screen TVs, an amazing leather sectional sofa, fabulous beds and a lovely front porch and backyard. In addition, we just installed solar panels on the roof! Just one block off Barracks Row, the house is caddy-corner to the Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., the oldest active post in the Corps and near the Washington Naval Yard and old Naval Hospital (now a community center). The house is quaint, yet spacious and with a location just 8 blocks from the U.S. Capitol, the location is ideal.

What makes this townhome unique

Washington DC is a great place to spend time. The city is compressed, so you can get anywhere is a short time. We have great public transportation (the Eastern Market Metro is just 3 blocks away) and the city is flat, so it is perfect for walking and cycling. Rent this house for access to the entire city. Entertain friends, BBQ in the yard or walk around the block where there are dozens of restaurants. Live theater, great parks, free museums and baseball are all just a few steps away!

  • There are three rooms upstairs. Each of them is a room with doors that close. The master bedroom overlooks the street and has a king bed. The middle room is a den with a great sofabed from IKEA with a memory foam mattress. These two rooms share a full bath. The back bedroom has a queen bed and small private bath. The back room and middle room share a common wall. All three rooms have large, flat screen TVs. Curious about the sofabed? It's an Ikea memory foam bed that's EXTREMELY comfortable: thick mattress, no springs. For the Love of Four Sisters

What a fantastic property this is. Right on "The Hill'. This historic home (built in the mid 1800s) is so charming yet spacious and full of modern amenities. Four sisters congregated here for a sisterly gathering and had the most wonderful time.

The best thing about this property is its proximity to the Eastern Market Metro which connects you to the entire DC area. Additionally, there are wonderful restaurants, grocery stores, and a weekend market right around the corner. The property is clean and well-stocked with anything you could think to need.

The owner, Dia, is the nicest, most helpful, and accommodating lady. A real treat to get to meet and chat with her one evening. She went out of her way any time we had a question or a request.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to explore the DC area. You won't regret it!!!

This place was great!

Close to all the sites we wanted to see and loved staying in this historic home! Plus our 2 dogs loved having an enclosed back yard! And Dia was very responsive when we had a few questions. This is definitely our "go to" house next time we visit the area!!

Wonderful place to Stay in DC

This is conveniently located to the mall and many tourist sites in DC. It's close to the Eastern Market Metro as well and 15 - 20 Min. drive from Reagan Airport. The house is as described and has the most big-screen TV's than anyplace I've ever stayed. The neighborhood is nice, quiet and safe. Property is clean and maintained, as well. Coffee shop/bakery right down the street and Eastern Market is a 10-min. walk. I will recommend this place to friends.

Making Memories

Very welcoming, clean, comfortable and having 3 bathrooms was perfect for our 3 families. The house was ideally located one block from the DC Circulator and 3 blocks from the Metro train and bus. One block over are restaurants, cafes, night life and an organic market. We felt very safe having the marine barracks within a couple of blocks also. We have stayed at many VRBO and AIRBNB's and this one is one of the best. Good job Dia!

Great Location and Very Suitable Home, Responsive Owner

This was our first time to DC and we were very pleased with everything this home had to offer. Excellent location for seeing DC, convenient to the airport (I made a 35 minute round trip to deliver a relative), very nice parking pass for zone 6. Eastern Market recommendation by owner was great for getting a nice, quick breakfast, and other eating options close by were excellent. Owner was very responsive to questions prior to arrival and helpful when we were there. Home was clean, comfortable, has some upgrades and owner indicated more were on the way. Nothing luxurious or over the top, but we were more than happy with our stay. 4 large screen TVs were great for the evenings since we had 3 kids. I would and already have recommended this property to friends/family.

The home is located in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood, on a quiet street, just blocks away from restaurants, the Nationals baseball stadium, the Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. (which has free Parades every Friday night in the summer), the Smithsonian museums, the US Capitol, Supreme Court, National Archives, the Library of Congress, or the Newseum, embassies, etc. Getting around is easy, via walking, Metro, Car2Go, ZipCar, BikeShare, and, of course, by personal auto.
