About james white

I grew up on the Monterey Peninsula and always wanted to share my amazing childhood memories with my family. Now as an adult, visiting has become so much more. This beach house is our escape from the city and connection to nature.

james white purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why james white chose Pacific Grove

We love the untouched, historical nature of Pacific Grove. But truly the seaside location was key for us... We explore the tide pools looking for interesting creatures, jog along the shoreline trail and, well, everyone from this area has a least one family member who plays golf! Shopping for antiques and eating somewhere interesting are also factored into the day.

What makes this bungalow unique

There is always something to do on the Peninsula

All the amenities in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend hanging out in this great little rental and using it as home base. The place was equipped with everything we needed (including a coffee grinder, wine and beer!)We enjoyed the decor, and found the living room quite comfortable. We also prefer the TV not being the central feature of a home, so it worked great for us having it in the back bedroom. The weather was glorious our first day, and we loved hanging out in the sun on the back deck. As mentioned repeatedly by others, this would work for 4 guests who like being cozy with each other; the layout would make it difficult and a little cramped for 2 couples. It is great for 2, however. The 2 of us are on kind of different sleeping schedules, and there were enough ways to access the back bedroom, the bathroom, the outside, etc. that we could each do what we wanted without disturbing the other during our "alone" hours awake. We have stayed in vacation rentals in the Monterey Bay Area, and specifically near Asilomar Beach numerous times, but had never done a vacation rental this close to the heart of Pacific Grove. The location was absolutely terrific for easy, walking access to town, to Lover's Point, and to visit the harbor seals and their pups along the walking/bike path. It was a squeeze, but our Prius fit in the driveway, and we didn't move it from the time we arrived. We did a whale watching cruise, and took Lyft to get to the wharf. The humpbacks put on an unbelievable show for us... bested our Hawaiian whale watching tour by quite a lot. We also enjoyed the Natural History Museum a few blocks from the rental. We could have easily made meals in, given the amenities available, but chose to eat out. Had great breakfasts at Holly's and Aliotto's, great dinners at Wildfish and Fandango. Thank you, James! One fantastic Mother's Day!!

The owner was very helpful and communications were flawless. Everything you could ever hope for in a vacation rental, especially the well stocked kitchen.

Perfect place for a restful and fun vacation

  • 5 of 5

This lovely house is perfect in every sense. It is comfortable and has a well equiped kitchen. Nice fireplace for foggy mornings.

It is just steps from the water, nice walking trail and easy walking to fine dining. It is a very short drive to the tourist sites in Monterey like the aquarium, cannery row and the wharf. The 17 mile drive and Carmel are also close.

We'd love to come back.

Beautiful Home with water views and walking distance to Lover’s Point

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time staying in Pacific Grove. I’ve stayed in Monterrey and Pebble before, but this was my first time here. You are walking distance to watering holes and restaurants and the water. Comfortable beds and a house with character. If the antiques bother you or the claw foot tub then I’d look elsewhere, but if you want a cottage with charm then look no further. I’d gladly stay again. Also for coffee and breakfast, I loved Crema. And if you want great Italian with a lovely owner couple, La Mia Cochina is down the street and amazing. Lobster ravioli and the Caprese... Mama Mia. All in all, a great place to spend a few days.

My favorite Pacific Grove property

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed all over PG for years, and this wonderful house is my new favorite. The location couldn't be better, it's generously stocked with anything you might need (the kitchen is superb) and James was wonderfully kind to deal with. Already planning our next trip back to this wonderful house!

Location! Location! Location!

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I stayed three nights on a recent mother/daughter trip. The owner was super accommodating and easy to work with. The house was lovingly cared for and perfectly located to enjoy all the area has to offer. I would mention, that while charming and quaint, the antique furnishings in the house are not comfortable for every day living. Also, the floor plan was just fine for two gals, but would not work well for two couples.

The ocean is out your front door and you can walk to the aquarium, Cannery Row , Pacific Grove shopping and a number of great restaurants.
