Zanja is a luxurious, beautifully designed and spacious traditional home with a modern twist. The house features carerra marble bathrooms, a jacuzzi tub, stainless steel appliances, a formal dining room, walk in closet, a fireplace in the master suite, 3d flat screen internet connected TV's, spacious enclosed front yard and a study/library. All of this is located just a short bike ride from Venice Beach, Abbott Kinney Blvd, the new Marina Marketplace (movie theaters, restaurants and shopping). Welcome to your hip new Venice home away from home.
The house was big and parking was easy, however the master bedroom smelled mildewy and in the house itself the air was sort of stale. Parking was good. Location was fine. Some of the cooking pans in the cupboards were dirty. So - needs to be freshened up and kitchen checked for cleanliness a little better. We appreciated the flexibility for check in time though and the owner was quick to fix the sink when it backed up.
Bright. Great Kitchen. Good parking. Close to Costco. Great TV's. Most important is Ben is a kind owner.
Ben was great and very accommodating. He was able to check with the cleaner and we were able to get into the rental a few hours earlier when we arrived.
It had all the amenities necessary and more. Very spacious as secure.
Loved the master bedroom!!!!
My only recommendation would possibly be for an additional love seat or recliner. The two living room chairs are nice but not something you'd really utilize after a long day.
We came from CT and went by previous renters experience. I would highly recommend this rental.
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely, well appointed house. It is beautifully furnished, interesting artwork. very comfortable bed in the master bedroom, and a great shower. The house is spacious especially for two adults and a dog. The location was within walking distance of two major streets and close to Abbott Kinney and the beach. Ben was wonderful to work with, very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!
My friends and I loved staying in this beautifully decorated and cozy home. The house instructions were straightforward and clear, all was clean, and everything was in working order. It was easy to walk to food, coffee, and drinks directly from the house. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return to that Cali life again soon!
Had a very relaxing stay to celebrate our 36th Anniversary & our son's Birthday! This home is in a very safe neighborhood as we enjoyed walking our dog each day. The front courtyard was a wonderful way to enjoy coffee each morning and happy hour each evening. The driveway for 2 vehicles is a plus. The master bed is wonderful and we had no trouble sleeping The master bath's such a pleasure as well as the walk in closet. Since my wife is a serious cook, she found the kitchen to be somewhat deficient on pots, pans, etc to prepare meals but for the most part, it is certainly adequate. We found the house flows very well. Anywhere you stay, you always say, I wish the owner had done this or that and it was almost a factor in our not renting this home, but the Living area although functional was not very comfortable for more than 2-3 people. The straight back chairs with the coffee table became very uncomfortable after an hour or less. So, my wish would be for swivel chairs with ottoman and coffee table you can put your feet up on occasion. The art work in the home is very refreshing and fun from the lizard man, Jim Morrison to Led Zeppelin and much more! (The George Rodger Haiti 1950 was on of my favorites). There was one piece that was quite frankly offensive in the dining room. While you are eating, there is artwork that has the logo's of the National Rifle Association next to the red blood stained face of John Lennon. Very unsettling to say the least since we lived through that terrible tragedy. And, we did not especially care for the political implications it implies. So, to add levity to the situation, we raised our wine glasses and toasted the NRA followed by a short rendition of the Beetle's " All You Need Is Love".
The real plus is the unbelievable fast response by Ben for any needs we had. Needed a corkscrew to open that bottle of wine staring me in the face. 5 minutes later, I had a corkscrew hand delivered by Ben. Pretty Cool!!
There are numerous restaurants we enjoyed: Water Grill, Beachside Cafe, Ruth's Chris, One Pico @ Shutters and The Lobster.
We caught a shuttle from Santa Monica College to the Hollywood Bowl for the LA Philharmonic. Also took in a Dodgers game!!
The AMC Din in movie theater is close by. We saw the new Star Trek movie.
Also, we enjoyed our walks along the beach at Venice and Santa Monica. The Venice Canals provide a unique walk as well.
We would definitely book this home again and deeply appreciate the hospitality!!
10 minute bike ride to the beach. Walk to grocery store, Costco, many restaurants, shopping and movie theater.
