2 Bedroom cottage in enchanting wooded setting
I am an Interior Designer, originally from the Midwest and Upstate New York. My husband, Ross, grew up in the cottage, he is now a fine artist and painting professor.
Owner purchased this Cottage in 1994
Why Owner chose Saugerties
This property is my husband's childhood home. His parents rented, then purchased the cottage from a local landowner in the mushroom business. The house is filled with warm memories as well as examples of Ross's early paintings. He was and is strongly influenced by the beaurtiful Hudson Valley light!
What makes this Cottage unique
The quiet setting is truly magical. I will never forget the first time I drove up the hill and saw the house and stone chimney surrounded by cedar trees. It is a special place!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. We arrived after dark but had no trouble finding the location due to good directions. The location appears isolated arriving at night but the next morning we loved the outdoor setting nestled between the trees and the fall colors all around, just seemed perfect. You are minutes from the village of Saugerties and the best bakery in the area (Hudson Valley Dessert Co. / love the cream puffs). The cottage has a good sized kitchen and dining room, unlike another cottage we had rented two years prior that was barely suitable for two people, that one was a disappointment as we normally stay at least a week and the place was truly cramped. Not the case with this cottage, it’s well suited for longer stays and we would definitely return, and highly recommend. Highly recommend apple picking if visiting in the fall. We felt right at home. Communication with Maureen and check in was seamless.
Cozy and well-appointed
We loved our stay at this beautiful property! It is close to Saugerties and easy to make day trips from, but it feels extremely private. The cabin is beautifully maintained and well stocked, with a full kitchen and flowers in the rooms. The linens are lovely and the fireplace draws well and is a delight to use. We spent many cozy hours relaxing by the fire and playing board games while it rained outside. Lots of wild turkeys and deer!
A Lovely Artist retreat... everything we had hoped for and more... a real gem!
Thank you Maureen!
This is a charming getaway nestled in the woods. It is spacious clean quiet and well equipped. The owner could not have been more responsive and accommodating. If there is any drawback (and this is more about us than the property): we had no idea it was so remote. We are city people. Scared of the dark and little gravelly hill road leading to the house!. Lol. Make sure you like the seclusion.
Very nice cottage
Very cozy and great location
Beautiful cabin in the woods
This is a charming property, clean and well-equipped. There are a lot of rooms and you can enjoy different views from each. My dog loved the glassed-in porch so she could watch for squirrels, foxes and deer, and it’s great to sit out there to have coffee in the morning. There’s also a nice patio but it was pretty rainy when I was there. The beds are comfortable, lots of fluffy towels, and the host even supplied a few breakfast items! I’m only giving four stars for location because I had to be on the east side of the river every day, and therefore had to drive a bit further than I expected. As long as you’re not practically commuting across the Hudson each day, this is a fabulous location!
Lovely wooded setting in the mid Hudson Valley close to Saugeries and Woodstock. Enjoy hiking, swimming, leisurely drives, fine food and quiet relaxation. Check out the Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club, 5 minutes away, for a fine meal or a round of golf with views of the Catskills. Prime location for Horses in the Sun, HITS, visitors!
