About Sue Mills

Mom and Dad built this beautiful home for their retirement. Now that they're gone, we've opened up the family get-away to visitors of Estes Park, the Rocky Mountain National Park and the surrounding National Forests.

Sue Mills purchased this cabin in 1978

Why Sue Mills chose Estes Park

All of our guests comment on the big windows that have such a wonderful view of the mountains and the river out front. You'll enjoy watching a variety of wildlife from the comfort of the living room or the deck in front, as well as the backyard.

Mule deer, elk, wild turkeys, bobcat, mountain lion, fox, bear, golden eagles, marmots, stellar jays, magpies, coyotes, porcupine, etc. etc. etc. have all been seen strolling through the yard and around the neighborhood.

What makes this cabin unique

Avoid the hassle of traffic and parking in town.

Climb to the top of Old Man Mountain and into the RMNP from the back door, or walk to the Elkhorn Stables for horseback riding in less than 5 minutes. Downtown shopping and dining is only a 10-15 minute walk.

Performance Park Amphitheater is an easy 10 minute walk to outdoor concerts and other events throughout the year.

Beautiful home close to RMNP

  • 5 of 5

This house was beautiful with large spacious rooms and plenty of supplies. We enjoyed the rustic decor of the house. Lots of towels and many useful items in the kitchen for making simple meals after a long day at the national park. The house was very close to both the visitor centers of RMNP. We loved the large picture window providing excellent views of the mountain and the Fall river. We spotted several deers and elks while relaxing in the comfortable couches in the living room. Sue is an amazing person and she maintains this home so well. We met her a couple of times and loved speaking with her. My 8 year old didn't want to leave the house at the end of our stay and still talks about the house and our memorable stay at Fall River Retreat. If we get back to Estes Park in the future, we will definitely choose to stay in this house.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a very lovely cabin; it couldn't feel more like home! Easy access to the park and Estes, and yet still secluded enough to feel like a mountain getaway. The view through the giant picture window is breathtaking! Sue is a wonderful host. I highly recommend this retreat.

Beautiful view, tranquil neighborhood - very homey.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. We had plenty of room. We loved the location. It was very close to town yet secluded enough that we didn’t see any neighbors coming and going - unless you count turkeys and mule deer! Wireless worked well. If TV had included ESPN and skillets had been non-stick this place would have been 5+ stars. Would definitely stay here again.

A peaceful mountain setting convenient to town and RMNP.

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay with Sue and I have no regrets with this repeat. A beautiful setting that is convenient to walk to downtown Estes Park and yet has easy access to RMNP.

This home is fully equipped with everything you could need for a great stay. Full-size appliances, comfortable beds, a great deck in front and another in the back. Plenty of living-room furniture for a group to relax and enjoy the fantastic view out those large windows. Deer, elk and wild turkeys were frequent visitors along with the usual birds and chipmunks.

I will not hesitate to repeat at this mountain retreat again!

Great location and large picture windows!!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed for a week and enjoyed our time. The kitchen is fully stocked and we cooked most nights. We enjoyed the large picture windows. We saw wild turkey several times. The beds were comfortable and the location is great. We also enjoyed the games in the cabin. Our only thought was the kitchen could have more lighting. Great clean and loved the layout and two bathrooms.
