Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Split area - The Peristil

Luxury 2 bed beside Diocletian's Palace

The Peristil apartment is located directly opposite Split's most famous landmark 'The Peristil'. It is a truly unique location for such an apartment and is one of the very few apartments located inside the walls of Diocletian's Palace and the old city.

The apartment is finished and furnished to a very high 4 star standard. The apartment consists of two large bedrooms (one twin, one double), tow bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area with views of beautiful Split architecture.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons including a dishwasher and washing machine.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The Apartment was lovely, and was very clean. We were a bit concerned on arrival, as the entryway leading up past the Internet café doesnt seem very appealing. But, we were very pleasantly surprised when we entered. Croatian apartments that we have stayed in seem to charge North American prices, but deliver Croatian standards. This was a pleasant exception.

We would certainly recommend this apartment to friends..the location is perfect, and the service was excellent.

Thank you again.

Perfect apartment in the heart of Split!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 12 days in this lovely, spacious, light filled apartment. Have to say it was absolutely perfect! So loved the view from all the windows overlooking the Peristil. Hearing the church bells every morning was wonderful, such a nice way to start the day. Often could hear guitars strumming or klapa music as well. The location can't be beat--you can easily walk to the Riva, markets, restaurants and cafes, Marjan park, etc and there are many day trips you can easily arrange from this home base. (Krka falls, Trogir, islands, etc).

The apartment has everything you need and then some. Ilija was awesome--very attentive and helpful whenever we had questions and had many great suggestions. I would highly recommend this place to everyone I know! Thanks so much for an amazing vacation!

Living in the Heart of Split

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at the Peristil Apartment for 10 nights and loved everything about it. It felt like 'home' very quickly as there was everything we needed, even a jar of coffee! The location was perfect for us; everything we wanted to see and do was within walking distance. Although we experienced the heatwave which meant the temperature reached 40 degrees, we discovered the roof top terrace had some shade. We had the pleasure of watching the opera being performed live in the square of the Diocletian's Palace from the privacy of the rooftop terrace on our last night - fabulous. There's lots of restaurants and cafes to choose from but our personal favourite was Bokeria - well worth a visit for lunch or dinner. We hope to be back for another visit and will definitely book to stay at the apartment again.

Fantastic location - not great apartment for the$$

  • 2 of 5

My family and I have stayed at a variety of apartments in Europe and the surrounding countries and sadly this was the most disappointing stay we've had. First, the good point...the location. If all you care about is location, then this is the apartment for you! Unfortunately, the not so great points are many:

1) Beds - hard as a rock

2) Bath towels - they are air dried and as a result are hard and scratchy. Sort of like sandpaper. Not fun to dry off...especially small children with soft skin.

3) Church bells - believe me when I tell you that they are LOUD, NUMEROUS and start EARLY!!

4) One set of keys - we were only given one set of keys for the doors to the building and the apartment, which made things a bit tricky

The apartment is clean and pretty spacious, but a disappointment due to the above. It is also wood floors and when we arrived we were told that the neighbor under us would likely come knocking if we were loud. Um, wood floors and two small children on vacation...not a good combo for "being quiet."

Honestly, my biggest complaint was the overall value. I could have lived with the hard beds, scratchy towels and church bells (not to mention a somewhat creepy entrance-way and stairs) if the price had been more reasonable. But, for what it is and what it offers, the price (in my opinion) is really too high.

I will say that the booking process was very easy, and the person who met us and helped us "check-in" and bring up our luggage to the apartment was nice and helpful.

I wrote this review not to bash this apartment, but to set reasonable expectations for anyone considering this apartment. When I read the current reviews I had expectations for a much higher quality stay. I would rather people be aware of what to expect and enjoy their stay, rather than have high expectations due to description and reviews and cost, and be disappointed like we were.

Owner's Response: Hello Leah, Thanks for taking the time to review our apartment. Needless to say I am disappointed that you felt your stay did not meet with your expectations. Firstly the housekeeping issues - I apologise the towels were not as expected. You are actually our first guest of the 2015 season and we admit that the towels had missed fabric softner in their last wash. As a precaution we have replaced all towels in the apartment with new ones and have plenty of fabric conditioner in stock. The second set of keys were readily available if required and apologise for any oversight. Generally our guests love the atmosphere of living in the heart of the old city in the centre of Diocletian’s Palace and only steps away from the local Mediterannean Market. Our aim is to provide our guests with the atmosphere and “buzz” of living in such a historic location, which is Splits number 1 tourist attraction. Church bells ringing are part of this atmosphere and usually don’t present a problem. We are very sorry that on this ocassion they interfered with your family’s enjoyment of the apartment. Lastly, I am disappointed to read that you felt our apartment was overpriced. We bench mark our prices against similar competitors in Split city and feel we offer competitive value against similar competitors. I would welcome you to contact me directly to discuss your comments and if there are any suggestions as to how we can improve our apartment.

5 STAR ALL THE WAY

  • 5 of 5

First of all, (and the main reason for choosing the apartment at the first glance) the apartment is located in the centre of Split old town, opposite Diocletian’s Palace. All places of interest could be easily reached by walking. The apartment itself is very clean, bright, well equipped, nicely furnished, etc. Tajana, from the owners Dalmatia Holiday Rentals was really helpful with great tips and hints for local restaurants and bars.

What is important for me when travelling, I am looking for the soul of the city, I care about the details, that is why first impressions and all the small things are important for me.

№1 - in the early evening, windows all open, listerning to the guys playing the guitar below the apartment at the Luxor restaurant was super

№2 – the hidden roof terrace was lovely

№3 - the bed!!! could not be better!! Not too soft and not too hard.

№4 - nice quiet neighbours

№5 - every thing :)

First impression of the hosts and apartment was... "sunny" for both! Very friendly, warm and welcoming! For sure we will return again to Split and hope I have a chance to stay here again. This apartment really made my vacation unforgettable!

The Peristil apartment is one of the few apartments located inside the old walls of Diocletian's Palace. With some of the best views of Split's most famous landmark (The Peristil) from your living room the apartment could not be in a better location. As it is within the famous walls you are only a short stroll to any of the restaurants, cafes, shops and tourist attractions that Split has to offer.

The apartment is also very close to the main ferry terminal in Split which provides the opportunity of some day trips to some of the beautiful Dalmation islands such as Brac and Hvar. The famous Bacvice beach is also within walking distance for when you need a break from all that Split has to offer.

The Peristil is a very special property with no other apartment in the city able to compete with location and quality.

Hotels in the area often charge double our prices for a double room so it is a great alternative.
