Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 bathroom, on two acres of waterfront property.

A private waterfront getaway on sixteen acres with a five boat pier and a living space of charming decor as if staying on a yacht! Wake up each morning to the smell of coffee and stepping out onto the vast expanse of lawn hugged by soothing water filled with wildlife. You sit in the white Adirondack Chairs with your crossword and Words With Friends (because yes, there's WiFi!). You suddenly realize you need a few more groceries for your grilling tonight, so you hop on your bike and breeze through to the Acme in St. Michaels where all of your needs are met. You stay for lunch and eat in Foxy's, a bohemian Bar & Grill located on a charming marina, and you watch the yachts come in. On your bike ride home, you stop into Chesapeake Landing, and pick up some smoked Blue Fish for your hors d'oeuvres that evening. Once home, pop open your favorite wine ( or boil up some relaxing green tea) and take in the sight of the fish jumping in the cove and then take in the night sky with our telescope.

About Liv Violette

Fun loving, caring mother of two who co-owns a company with her husband and wants to share her favorite vacation spot with like-minded individuals.

Liv Violette purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Liv Violette chose Chesapeake Bay

Living in the city has its perks, but there is something about frequenting a getaway that calms the soul. My husband and I chose to buy this property because our hectic lives needed some slowing down without distractions. We love The Lodge at Leadenham Cove because we have solidified our relationships with friends and family by having them join us in a wholesome and soothing environment.

What makes this cottage unique

My favorite part of staying at the cove is sitting in the Adirondack chairs with friends for hours catching up, and genuinely enjoying each others company. The Catalpa, Magnolia, and Pine trees give the space a unique park-like setting, that never grows tired. At night, I love to serve dinner to my guests on the deck below a Maple tree decorated with hanging lamps that my daughter refers to as The Great Hall from Harry Potter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Myself and some friends rented this property for a low key guy's weekend trip, and we couldn't have asked for more. The house is clean, comfortable and has everything you need, including a shed with toys and tools. The property itself is fantastic, and we spent most of our time on the pier fishing and crabbing. For a bunch of city folks who wanted some privacy and peace & quite, we were more than satisfied! The owner is professional, personable and communicative. As we arrived on a rainy Friday morning, she was standing at the entrance to the driveway to direct us in so that we wouldn't miss it. She quickly showed us what needed to know and then let us get to relaxing. I wish we could keep this place a secret, but this property simply deserves 5 stars. We'll be back for sure! And now we want to bring our wives so they can enjoy it too.

Fun in the sun secluded getaway back to nature!

  • 5 of 5

From just lying on the dock of the bay, to kayaking to enjoying a romantic dinner for two on the deck, this escape from the daily grind exceeded our expectiins! The 16 acres provided some exciting moments to enjoy the deer and bunnies and the total privacy we were seeking. All this while being just 10 minutes from St. Michaels. 9.5 out of 10!

A wonderful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I could not have been more pleased with our two week stage at the Lodge. The setting is beautiful and the accommodation is very comfortable with enough amenities to stay connected with the world while feeling totally away from it all. We loved listening to the wind rustling through the leaves and watching the bunnies nibbling the grass in the yard. And my husband spent many hours happily reading on the dock.

A previous guest commented on the age of the fridge and dishwasher. Yes they are old but they work well. Our food and drinks were kept cold and the dishes were cleaned so I'm not sure what more one would want. Our one minor concern was dealt with immediately by the owner.

Many thanks to Liv for her hospitality. We definitely plan to return.

Perfection on the Eastern Shore

  • 5 of 5

This property has everything we could ask for in a long weekend (or longer) getaway from the city near St. Michaels, and that is the reason we keep going back there. When you head up the long lane through the woods, and catch a glimpse of the long lawn, the dock, and the beautiful creek beyond, that is just the beginning. The house itself is well-equipped, clean, and well-maintained, with a nice layout, quiet corners for reading or napping, and great views. Everything was in fine working order each time we stayed. The furniture is tasteful and comfortable.

This property deserves a special shout-out to owner Liv Violette, who provided exceptional friendly customer service from start-to-finish.

Our favorites: A sunrise kayak paddle on the creek; a "golden hour" glass of wine on the dock; sitting around the fire after dark, watching the incredibly bright stars. You may find your own.

The location of the home was good with grounds that were open and quiet. The home was below average.

  • 2 of 5

Upon entering the home, it had a bad odor and had a musty smell. Opened windows. All were hard to open and some had torn screens. This would let bugs in so we closed those windows after some time. After airing the house out, we turned on the AC which worked OK.

The overall condition of the kitchen was poor. The floor needed to be swept and the refrigerator, coffee pot, Microwave and toaster had to be cleaned before we could use them. The Microwave had a croissant still left inside and the coffee pot had used grounds in it. The toaster had bugs and large toast pieces in the bottom tray. The refrigerator was dirty and needed cleaned out as well as the freezer. The ice in the trays had gnats frozen in them. We spent two hours cleaning up the kitchen before we could use anything, which included the counter which had ants crawling around due to sticky patches left on the counter tops.

One area that I couldn’t use at all was the outside grills. In the information packet the owner said that we should be “Chillin and Grillin.” This was impossible. The gas grill was filthy with dirt on the outside and large amount of grease on the grates. I cleaned it up then tried to use it but only had one burner.

The charcoal grill had a large amount of ashes in it. There was so much ash that it almost came up to the grate. The grate was so rusty you couldn't use without foil.

Some good points were that the bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of towels and wash cloths but no hand towels. It was nice to have the ability to sign onto Netflix with our own code and to have some DVDs to choose from. The grounds were spacious and the dock was great. We caught a lot of crabs. We used the kayaks and they were easy to get to.

1. The electric in the house needs updating. The bedroom with the twin beds has a defective circuit on the north side. When you turned the left bed light on, the light would buzz. It was not related to a faulty bulb – that worked. The microwave and the toaster couldn’t be used together.

2. Downstairs bedroom sink stopper is stuck so it doesn’t drain properly ,very slow. Nice to have 2 bathrooms downstairs.

3. Fire extinguisher has expired. Could not be used in an emergency.

4. All mattresses upstairs are uncomfortable, need improved.

5.The shed lock combination needs more details.

6.Except for the stove, the appliances are outdated.

The telescope was a nice option but no directions. I had one night which was very clear but couldn’t use the scope.

Owner's Response: Dear David, When you called prior to your visit and requested that no "harsh detergents' be used, it might have thrown off our cleaning crew. It is my understanding that vinegar and lemons were used instead of the usual cleaning fluids but it sounds as if it didn't quite do the trick! The lock to the shed is a "standard high school" pad lock. I'm sorry you found it complicated, however, I was most happy to guide you through its use and hope that counts for something! The electrical plugs are controlled by the light switch on the wall and designed to connect to the bed stand lamps. The smoke alarm is wired directly to the alarm panel which is constantly monitored by ADT and does not have an occupant test mode. Thank you for the heads up on the fire extinguisher. I have procured a replacement. We will also monitor the cleaning crew more closely. We appreciate your candid review and strive to maintain our five star rating experience for all of our valued guests. Sincerely. Liv

A great place for family and friends to rejuvenate! Lovely home with lots of amenities, bikes, kayaks, crab pots, fishing poles. You don't need to bring anything but the food! An easy bike ride into St Michaels, amazing morning of fishing with Captain Bob Marshall on The Class Act. Lots to do or not to do as you see fit. Liv was very responsive in all of my emails prior to the trip. I would highly recommend this place, charming, would love to come back.
