About Cindy Trubee

Mike & Elaine, high-school sweethearts who have been married for 37 years, are beach lovers. Elaine enjoys shelling the shores of the Cape and Mike's favorite activity is long walks to the tip of the Cape. Their 2 grown children, Michelle & Mark, love visiting Cape San Blas with their spouses. We all love relaxing and enjoying each others company at beautiful Sunset Pointe.

Cindy Trubee purchased this house in 2007

Why Cindy Trubee chose North West Florida

We chose Lion's Paw because of it's secluded and breathtaking location. The 'Real Florida' wetlands that the home is located on and the short walk to the pristine beaches offer a all-encompassing idea of what Florida truly is.

What makes this house unique

Named Lion's Paw after the famous children's novel by Robb White, Elaine has worked hard to instill a bit of the classic tale in the home. Children and adults alike will love the 'ship bunk room' on the second floor. Hanging beds and a rounded ceiling will transport you inside the pages of 'The Lion's Paw.' While you are enjoying the beach, bring along our provided copy of the novel and you'll fall in love with the story, too. Perhaps you will even discover a Lion's Paw shell or two hidden around the home.

The REAL Florida!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in several different locations on the Cape, and so far Lion's Paw is our favorite! It very comfortably accommodated our family of 8. My 7 -yr old nieces loved the cool boardwalk to the pool and beach, where we could hear lots of little critters scurrying out of our path. It made the 5 minute walk very enjoyable! We pretty much had the beach to ourselves, even on a holiday weekend! The house itself is lovely. The only thing I can think of that it could use is another set of dishes and flatware, but really it was no big deal, and the glassware was very adequate-- although champagne flutes would be a nice addition! Although you can't see the beach from the screened in back porch, it does overlook the forested wetland, and it was beautiful to watch the sunset there. It was also a great place for our dog to hang out and dry off after a day of jumping in the surf! We enjoyed Lion's Paw so much, that we just booked it again in July!

Absolutely wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

My family, friends, and myself had an absolutely wonderful time staying here. Very beautiful and spacious with very thoughtful amenities throughout the home including beach chairs and cart. Pretty much everything we needed was available. The location was perfect for our needs. Very quiet with relatively easy access to the beach and pool. We were caught off guard by an unseasonable cold snap but still enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We put the board games and fireplace to good use!

On a personal note, our kids grew up reading The Lion's Paw on annual family sailing trips. We thought the name was neat when we booked the place (because of our history with the story) but assumed the house was named after the shell. We were extra thrilled to find framed prints and quotes from the book throughout the house. An added special treat for our family. We would be absolutely thrilled to be able to stay at this wonderful home again in the future. Our huge thanks to the owners and managers of this absolutely gorgeous property.

Beautiful vacation home

  • 4 of 5

We spent the entire month of February at Lion's Paw and loved it.It is a beautiful house; we especially enjoyed both porches. We had never been to Cape San Blas before, but we fell in love with it.

Beautiful white sand, dog friendly beaches, sunsets, no high rises. We will be back next year for sure. I cannot give 5 stars, however, because the house does have some maintenance issues. The master bath shower head was broken. We reported it but it was never fixed. The beach chairs are totally rusty and need to be replaced. But the most serious issue was the leaky roof. We had 3 pretty strong rain storms and had every pot from the kitchen out to catch the rain! I do hope the roof is repaired/replaced before any other guests arrive.

Lion's Paw

  • 4 of 5

Very lovely home! Well equipped and spacious for our family of eight. We enjoyed the modern kitchen, and dinning area. We were thrilled with the front porch and rocking chairs and the screened back porch! You can hear the waves crashing at night from the back screened porch. The house was very accessible for my elderly mother, which was a plus for us. We would definitely love to stay there again.

Gorgeous home. This house is for those who appreciate the finer things in life.

  • 5 of 5

Everything was ready for a beautiful stay. We were scheduled for 5 days and 4 nights but unfortunately one of us had an accident. Slipped on the beautiful polished wood floor and broke my leg. Had to cut the trip short, but enjoyed the short time anyway. I would love to try it again sometime.

PS. We stopped at scallops cove to see if we could buy a paddle since we left out kayak paddle at home. They told us they would be glad to loan us one. Just return it when we were done. No charge at all. What nice trusting people.
