3 bedroom duplex apt in fantastic neighborhood. Close to several subways!

This listing is for one apt, a 3 bedroom apt with 3 queen beds. These photos are for the smaller 3 bedroom.

If you want to book both apts for 6 bedrooms you need to book both apts.

The other listing is vrbo # 613527.

There are 2 apartments available. Both are 3 bedrooms. One is a upstairs duplex with 1 bath, the other is a 3 bedroom with 1.5 bathrooms and a yard plus washer and dryer. Both have all bedrooms with queen size beds. The triplex though is twice as large as the 3 bedroom.

Free YOGA classes while you visit at yoga studio 1 block away.

The Heart of NYC is only a bike ride away! The neighborhood has award winning restaurants, boutiques, bike rentals, kayaking, pools, all within blocks.

Vive Le Carroll Gardens! New York Magazine just rated Carroll Gardens in top 10 areas to live/work/play in NYC!!

The Brownstone Brooklyn neighborhood that was once an Italian stronghold is quickly becoming the city's Little Paris - fueled by a new French program at a local public school.

Neighborhood playgrounds have recently filled up with French-speaking tots - making it easier these days to find croissants than cannoli on Court St., where merchants have seen a surge in French families looking for favorite products from home.

French government officials estimate there are as many as 20,000 French residents in Brooklyn, more than in Manhattan, with the largest concentration in Carroll Gardens. Butcher John McFadden, whose family owns Staubitz Meat Market, has seen a surge in demand for French-style racks of lamb, boeuf bourguignon and filet mignon. 'It's doubled, tripled, recently,' McFadden said. 'It's good for us.'

Carroll Gardens' other main strip, Smith St., has become so French that restaurant owners launched a Bastille Day celebration. 'If you come to my restaurant on Saturday or Sunday, everyone is speaking French,' said Jean-Jacques Bernat, whose postcard-perfect French bistro on Smith St., Provence en Boite, has begun stocking special candies and other goodies, especially for the nabe's growing numbers of homesick expats.

About Loretta

I am a green builder specializing in high efficiency and ecological renovations. My wife owns a yoga studio and day spa in the neighborhood.

Loretta purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Loretta chose Brooklyn

Carroll Gardens is a beautiful tree lined area with great shopping and restaurants. It is close to the subway and a few minutes from Manhattan. The neighborhood is very family friendly and safe. There is also a very enjoyable nightlife with great bars and eating options. All within walking distance of the home.

What makes this apartment unique

This home is in a great location in the best neighborhood of Brooklyn. We love Carroll Gardens and this home is located conveniently between two subway lines.

Perfect location - very basic

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay - the location is perfect. Having said that the place only has the most basic equipment (e.g. there were not enough spoons, forks,... for all guests) and whoever cleans the place should take the time to look into and under things... We found used coffee mugs with tea bag still in and other things that should be cleaned/found with a little effort.

Summary: If you need lots of space in the perfect location and do not plan to stay in other than for sleeping - you found your spot.

Clean & Convenient!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 7 enjoyed our stay during the Brooklyn Half Marathon Weekend. Amenities are basic (we were able to cook a nice pasta dinner for 10 people the night before the race), but we were very pleased with the cleanliness and location. We lucked out with free street parking right by the rental. At first sight the neighborhood seemed a bit dodgey, but then you realize that it really isn't that bad -- with great restaurants and bars just a few blocks away! Working with Loretta was easy and she always got back to me by email right away. The only suggestion I would offer would be to have the address listed on confirmation emails and a list of checkout instructions available at the rental -- we weren't sure what to do with the bedding and trash after. Most of our HomeAway stays had this information provided. I would recommend this condo!!

Good Location

  • 4 of 5

We came in for a wedding and a total of 8 of stayed here, and we had a great experience. The place is nothing fancy, but it suited us perfectly. Just a short walk to the subway, and a bunch of cute restaurants and shops around the corner. The place was clean and exactly how we expected it to be. The only downfall was 1 bathroom for 8 people, but we made it work. All in all a great place to stay.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

I had communicated our flight arrival information to the owner and said we would call when we left the airport. She did not answer her phone. But, we had agreed to go to the apartment and she would leave a key under the map. There was no mat or key. I called again and she came over with the keys.

This property listing was confusing; says 3bdrms or 2bdrms but at this time it's actually 1bdrm. This apt is at the top of a filthy, rickety staircase. Immediately outside the sliding glass door (that doesn't lock) to the "apartment" is a bedroom where a renter lives. The sleeper for 2 is in the kitchen, there is no living room. There is no A/C in the bedroom. A fan was provided when we asked. There are 2 thresholds (one between kitchen and hall, one onto the bathroom) that are about 2 - 3 inches and very easy to trip on.

Linens were piled up in the bedroom along with someone's make-up bag. There was no top sheet on the bed.

Our feeling was this apartment was not ready to be rented to 3 people, perhaps 2, but again, no A/C in the bedroom. Our son stayed there and we got a hotel room. This made our trip much more expensive than we had planned. Our son checked out on Sunday night and we didn't stay until Monday.

Our experiences with VRBO have been very satisfactory to this point, and we were sadly surprised by this experience.

Owner's Response: Hi Anne, So sorry to hear you did not like the apt. You were the second guest to stay in it and I am sure there a few things that need to be improved. I am sorry the maid forgot to leave her key, as you arrived the floors were still wet and we had just missed her. I only live 5 blocks away so you did not have to wait longer than 5 minutes. This apt will be a 3 bedroom apt as of Sept 1. I had told you that in my email to you clarifying... "Hi! This apt is only a 1 bedroom until sept 1. It is set up with a large bedroom and additional sleeping for 2 in the living room. It becomes a 2 bedroom in Sept. I am not sure if this is adequate for your needs! Please let me know. Thanks!! Loretta" You responded that a 1 bedroom was fine. By NYC standards this is a decently sized 1 bedroom apt that has a kitchen/living room in an open floor plan. It was rented for the past 10 years to 1 tenant who loved it! The staircase is over 120 years old and will be repaired when the new wall goes up. The house has tons of new sheets and linens and I am not sure why a top sheet was missing unless the maid somehow forgot it! I will speak to her about that. I know you loved your previous stay at our other vacation rental so hopefully you will visit us again. Thanks so much for the review, I just wish it had been better.
