Great spot for family fun with close proximity to 10 mile pristine beach. Secluded with privacy and security, you will enjoy the natural beauty of the Island with spectacular wildlife - a bird lover's paradise. Several golf courses including the famous Ocean Course where the 1991 Ryder Cup was held.
There are excellent clay tennis courts and bike rentals available within a few minutes walk. Neighborhood pool for cottage guests is also within two to three minutes walking distance. Cottage is located in West Beach area in Sparrow Pond - 5 minute walk to the beach
Only 30 minutes drive from Charleston - one of the best kept secrets on the South Carolina Coast, without the crowds.
We spent a lot of weekends at Kiawah with our family and friends during the 10 years we lived in Charlotte NC.
Now that we are in Minnesota., we love coming back to the ocean, the wildlife and to beautiful Charleston.
Preston or Florence Walklet purchased this cottage in 2002
It is a great location within a quiet neighborhood, and close enough to the beach to hear the surf at night, while convenient to all the amenities.
No better place for a family vacation
We had a wonderful vacation. The cottage was clean and comfortable with no issues with anything. We would definitely come back again.
Kiawah Island is a great place to go on a family vacation. Thank you.
Location was great, near great golf courses and restaurants. It was everything we envisioned and more
My family (four adults, three little kids) stayed in this property in late July. I chose it because the reviews were uniformly good. On the positive side, it's walking distance to the beach which is the main selling point. There is also access to the pool. Unfortunately, when we arrived housekeeping hadn't properly cleaned the cottage and there was sand, broken glass and hair everywhere. It was just gross. The deck was full of cigarette butts and pine needles. We called housekeeping and to their credit, they cleaned it up right away. The kitchen was functional. Bed rooms were serviceable. My biggest issue is that the unit needs a lot of maintenance and some upgrading. Unlike some of the other surrounding cottages, it looks like the owners haven't put much into keeping the property up to date. Especially the outside. It truly looks like a rental. There are loose boards on the deck and the rails are wobbly. Outdoor shower spigot on the second floor was broken. Inside there was a nice flat screen but attached was a VHS (!!!?) player rather than DVD player (believe me, you need this for the kiddos during the afternoon storms). WiFi signal was very weak which in 2015 when most people have multiple devices is just unheard of. We also found a few dead/dying roaches the first two days we were there. I can say the owners were helpful and responsive. We've been coming to the Kiawah/Seabrook Island area for six years and this was my least favorite rental. It just didn't meet my expectations compared to other places I've rented in the area. The property is way over due for a makeover and the decking needs to be replaced and repainted. It just needs a good sprucing up. In short, if you aren't too picky about your surroundings and want a spot is close to the beach with pool access, this may fit the bill for you. But if you are discerning hoping for an up-to-date, immaculately maintained cottage, look around a bit more.
The owners are super friendly, the place is clean and great! It was huge for all 6 of us, sadly we did not even use the outside porch/patio! Such a great location and easy to get to the beach. The owners allowed us to check in at 4/5am on Friday morning and we received our keys at the lockbox!
If you stay, dont forget to go to marble head creamery yum!
What a great vacation spot. Came here with 3 kids, and left with 3 "happier than ever" kids. A 5-minute walk to pool or beach, and great golf courses for my husband. We also went into Charleston quite a bit to enjoy the restaurants, shops and historic sights. Highly recommend Boone Plantation, only about 40 minutes away. The cottage was roomy and comfortable and the kids loved being in a "tree house" A week to remember for sure!
My sisters and I met my Mom here for her 80th bday, and we couldn't have picked a better spot. You can enjoy the hustle and bustle of Charleston--the great restaurants, the historic sites, walking the charming streets, etc. and then return to Kiawah for the calm and soothing setting that feels like a real escape. The house had everything we needed, a well stocked kitchen and lots of comfy places to relax. Also, we all noticed how comfortable the beds were! We spent our mornings on the beach, which is spectacular, and evenings in Charleston having fun; the perfect combination. I know my Mom had a blast and the great memories will last forever.
