Casa Flor de Cactus is located on a hill above the village of La Manzanilla. It has stunning views of the Bay of Tenacatita. It is unusual in its privacy and quiet. A paved road brings you past the three other houses on the road to the paved parking spot. The house is surrounded by trees and its namesake, an ancient cactus.
The house sleeps 6 with a master bedroom downstairs with a full bath. The main level also has a living room and a beautifully tiled kitchen. Both open out through wide wooden french doors onto a patio that overlooks the bay. The sunsets are year-around and something is always blooming.
Upstairs is a grand room with a cathedral ceiling made of local palm leaves. This is the traditional design in this part of Mexico. Rustic but elegant, screened on three sides, it is open to the breezes and amazing views. There are two hammocks and two Adirondack chairs. There is a half bath and washer upstairs and a second shower outside.
All the beds have side tables and reading lamps.
The kitchen is well appointed . There are dishes for 8 and all needed appliances such as a juicer, Cuisinart, blender and toaster.
In the back of the house there is a paved area for hanging clothes as well as a garden of palms.
The road to the off-street parking spot is paved. Although it is a scant half-mile to the beach the road is steep in some places. A car is recommended but not necessary. One can always take a taxi for two dollars. The view makes it worthwhile! Also note that there is a dirt road that leads right up to behind the house but it is only suitable for four-wheel drive vehicles
We have planted lemons, oranges, Mango, papaya, bananas and avocados. Maybe there will be homegrown fruit to eat while you are there.
