This is a lovely villa just 15 minutes from Granada and 25 minutes from Alhambra! Experience Andalusia in a quiet, secure and beautiful urbanization. Sunny, open floor plan with a large private pool. Walled garden, both the salon and the kitchen open on to a large patio. Ideal for a family or for four to six adults.

There are many opportunities for recreation in the area. Close to skiing, parks, and walking distance to a recreational reservoir, the area is ideal for biking, kayaking, hiking. Located in Parque del Cubillas with easy access to the highway, the house is an excellent base for all of Andalusia. There are buses into Granada's center for exploration on foot. By car, it's just 40 minutes to Mediterranean beaches, less than an hour to Jaen, one and a bit to Malaga, two hours to Cordoba, two and a half to Seville. Free parking in front of the property.

About Ann Wiegand

My husband is a scholar of Andalusian literature and history. I am a graphic designer. We live in Chicago, Illinois, where we experience a much different climate. We have traveled to Spain and to Granada many times over the last 20 years and frankly, we love it. Alhambra is one of the most visually rich world heritage sites and right on our doorstep. Our work is in Illinois, but we hope someday to make our favorite vacation destination our home.

Why Ann Wiegand chose Albolote

We fell in love with this house the first time we saw it. Its sunny open floor plan, the old growth garden, and the large patio hit all the right cues for us.

I love to swim, so the enormous and beautiful pool that we share with just a few of our immediate neighbors clinched the deal. No maintenance, just the pleasure of walking out the door to swim or sunbathe. The Cubiallas reservoir would allow me to canoe or get better at windsurfing. The University of Granada has a nautical campus is a 10-minute walk, and rents watercraft. I don't even have to bring equipment with me.

With easy access to the highway, easy parking and shopping close by, it was clear that we could live comfortably and take advantage of all that southern Spain has to offer including the rich history of Cordoba, Seville, Rhonda, Malaga and of course, Aben Amar's jewel, Granada.
