This 4800sq ft sunny log home is surrounded by hundreds of acres of conservation easement properties and historical ranches in the Teton River corridor and creates a peaceful, natural setting only 3 miles from the town of Driggs. The house has a large well equipped kitchen with a river rock butcher block, breakfast bar, and updated appliances. The living room has large windows facing south at the Snake River and Big Hole mountain ranges and a mammoth rock fireplace equipped with wood for evening fires. Master bedroom is located downstairs with a king bed, his and hers sink set up and large walk in shower. Upstairs has 3 more more large bedrooms with queen beds, private bathrooms and a common sitting area. One of upstairs bedrooms has a custom willow crib and a fantastic view of the 30 acre wetland that has been designated an Important Bird Management Area by Audabon and Idaho Fish and Game. An additional room has a ping pong table, air hockey and large laundry room with a sink. The house has a covered porch that surrounds all but the larger south facing porch. Enjoy mornings on the east facing porch as the sun rises over the Tetons. Comfortable porch furniture makes sunsets equally as enjoyable and a gas grill is protected under covered porch. The owners have chosen to skip water hungry landscaping and kept the natural grasses as the homes foreground to it's outstanding views. Steps away visitors may enjoy walking along the shore of the owners managed marsh created for wildlife. Numerous species of waterbirds can be seen seasonally including hundreds of staging Sandhill Cranes in September, Trumpeter Swans in Winter and waterfowl, eagles, raptors, moose and deer can be seen year round. All this only steps from the house. This property is a one of a kind and is only for those who appreciate the wonder of nature and cherish the special relationship humans have with their wild surroundings. Owners home is approximately 200 yards away on same property which is an asset for those unfamiliar with the valley and if assistance should be needed but plenty of privacy is provided through landscaping. Long driveway is shared.

What makes this house unique

Teton Valley is a special place. There are very few mountain towns that have maintained their rural character and wildness as Teton Valley has. The pristine nature of its proximity to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks and its rich agricultural and ranching history set it apart. At the same time Teton Valley has become a well known ski town and popular summer destination for biking, hiking, flyfishing, music festivals and visiting the Parks. The City of Driggs and Victor offer a wide variety of dinning options from a classic western steak house, The Knotty Pine to the uptown feel of Teton Thai and Forage Lounge and Bistro.

Teton Valley is a beautiful mountain community located on the west slope of the Teton Mountain Range and is sometimes refered as 'The quiet side of the Tetons' or 'The Sunny Side of the Tetons.' Teton Valley is composed of the cities of Victor, Idaho, Driggs, Idaho, Tetonia, Idaho, and Alta, Wyoming. Teton Valley is a rural, agriculture and ranching based economy shifting emphasis towards recreational tourism.

Teton Valley has a wide variety of attractions including skiing, groomed nordic trails, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting, river sports, hiking, horseback riding, and Grand Teton and Yellowstone Parks next-door.

The mountains surrounding Teton Valley boast an average of 500 inches of super-light powder every winter season. Winter sports are fantastic in Teton Valley! Grand Targhee Resort offers terrain for beginner family friendly fun, terrain park features and expert-only big mountain skiing. It also offers 15km of groomed classic cross country trails and skate skiing lanes that wind through wooded glades, aspen groves, and scenic meadows. Tubing, dogsledding and horse drawn sled dinners also complete the experience at 'The Ghee.'

The area is also known for it's endless backcountry skiing and snowboarding terrain. Local backcountry guides are available to introduce those to the beauty of the backcountry while keeping clients safe in the wild terrain.

Teton Valley is a world class nordic destination and can claim 50km of groomed nordic trails in the valley thanks to Teton Valley Trails and Pathways. As mentioned Grand Targhee provides another 15k of groomed nordic trails with outstanding views.

Summer activities are equally abundant in Teton Valley and because of the additional visitors from Jackson, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks it has become increasingly vibrant with the activities and energy of a summer vacation destination.

Summer Festival over the 4th of July is four days of fun. There is a hot air balloon rally, Craft Fair, Antique show, Rodeo, Parade, Community Breakfast and BBQ, and what July 4th wouldn’t be complete without a fabulous Fireworks display! There is something for the whole family to enjoy at Summer Festival.

No one would argue that Teton Valley is becoming a hot spot for biking enthusiasts: road, cross country and downhill. There is access to over 200 miles of open trails for exploring the valley on mountain bikes and endless rolling backroads for road bikers. The trails include a wide range of difficulty levels to suit any riders preference. Grand Targhee resort also offers the thrill chairlift accessed downhill riding and miles of high altitude trails to enjoy the views of the valley.

For those who enjoy water sports the Teton River is the valleys most popular waterway for scenic rafting, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. The river flows through the heart of the valley and is a precious resource to the valley as it feeds the huge expanse of wetlands that support a rich diversity of plant and animal life. Prime wetland bird habitats have been protected in Teton Basin through the local Land Trust ensuring the continued benefits of a healthy riparian community.

Eastern Idaho and the National Parks are well know fly fishing destinations and offer ample opportunities to catch trout in some of the most scenic river corridors available to the public.

We’ve all heard fishermen talk about the good ole days, but on the Teton River it’s time to live in the present. Idaho Department of Fish and Game monitors trout populations in the Teton River by sampling two reaches in Teton Valley every two years. The most recent surveys from September 2013 yielded some astounding findings, namely record trout densities. That’s right; total trout estimates that include Yellowstone cutthroat trout, brook trout, and rainbow trout are at all-time highs for both of the monitoring reaches.

The Nickerson monitoring reach (1/2 mile from house!)is located downstream from Teton Creek had a total trout density of 2,336 trout/mile (more than 450 higher than the previous record set in 2009) while the Breckenridge monitoring reach, located near the Packsaddle bridge, set a record at 2,975 trout/mile (more than 2.5 times higher than the last record set in 1987). All three trout species have had increasing trends in abundance since record lows in 2003, including native Yellowstone cutthroat trout.

A visit to Teton Valley during the warm season wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Grand Teton and/or Yellowstone National parks. It is true that Teton Valley shares most of the natural beauty and wildlife with both parks, but there are many unique aspects of both parks that are definitely worth a visit. Grand Teton National Park is only 45-minutes from Teton Valley. The West Gate of Yellowstone is approximately 1 hr and a beautiful scenic drive through Idaho agricultural areas before climbing onto the Yellowstone Plateau.

Great home and property. Loved being away from it all and the log home is a really cool experience. Home could use a little furnishings updating but overall really very enjoyable!

Staff Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We held a staff planning retreat at this house and had a terrific experience. The house is beautiful, well-maintained and large. The property is secluded and scenic - but also convenient to Driggs. We also got great support from Jeff and Darcy with any questions that we had. I would love to go back here on a personal trip. Maybe next year when the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl :)

Remote location with wildlife opportunities galore.

  • 5 of 5

Lodge was fantastic and easy to use. Decks made good viewing of spectaculare sunrises in the morning of the Tetons to the east and beautiful sunsets to the west. Access to the river was a hike, but well worth it. The wetlands and pond had numerous species of ducks, trumpeter swans, and geese. Sandhill cranes leaving the roost woke me up each morning, but were a delight. Next to last day three moose were close to the lodge in the aspens and the last morning two mule deer were feeding in the same area.

The owners were very mindful of our privacy, very helpful with their Teton and Yellowstone viewing hints, and the boys were a delight in the manner they respectfully met us on the property.

I would recommend this property and would love to return to it.
