A top value In Vail, and one of the very nicest updated Ptarmigan units!

You will love this exceptional townhouse only minutes from the vibrancy of the downtown village area. The secluded location in a great neighborhood assures it will be quiet and relaxing when you arrive to your "home away." Delight in the space and luxury of a very nicely appointed home for less than the price of a single slope side hotel room.

Take a moment, and take in the spectacular views of Gore Creek from the large living room windows. In spring, summer, fall, and warmer winter days you can relax on comfortable patio furniture, perfect for your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The gas grill on the deck is great for barbeques all year round.

Both bedrooms are on the upper level, each with premium king size beds. A cozy sitting area between the two bedrooms has a full pull out sofa/futon. The low ceiling loft "fortress," furnished with a comfortable queen mattress, is recommended for children. Here they will find books, games, and a small video TV with a selection of movie classics. Up to 6 people, a maximum of 4 adults, will find very pleasant accommodations.

Johnson Ski House is thoughtfully furnished with all amenities you expect: quality contemporary furniture, 3 new large flat screen TVs (in the living area and in each bedroom), a Blue-Ray/DVD player, private Wi-Fi, Bluetooth unit, full sized washer/dryer, luxurious linens, and a fully equipped, newly renovated kitchen. Kitchen updates include new top quality stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. An ecological, easy switch on gas log fireplace provides instant warmth and ambiance on frosty mornings and evenings at home as you savor your Vail hideaway.

The nicely landscaped Ptarmigan grounds include a well maintained, heated outdoor summer season swimming pool with new upscale loungers, tables, umbrellas, and chairs. Ptarmigan's shared year round indoor hot tub is available for a relaxing soak after your day on the mountain - or after exploring the many tempting shops, galleries, and boutiques of Vail and Beaver Creek.

Two free parking spaces are located just out your front door. Literally steps away is the free bus stop where you can catch short rides into the heart of Lionshead and Vail Village multiple times each day and on into late night. Approximately 3 minutes away in West Vail are grocery and liquor stores, sporting goods, gourmet coffee options, fast food, popular bars, restaurants, and more.

Legendary winter skiing is a given, but do not overlook the wonders of summer and fall in Vail. Choose Johnson Ski House and enjoy concerts, art, music and dance festivals, farmers' markets, golf, tennis, fly fishing, horseback riding, sublime restaurants, fascinating and eclectic shops, biking, hiking, rafting, scenic gondola rides, zip lining, scenic drives, and more. Gore Valley Bike/Recreation Path is accessible right next to the Ptarmigan complex. It shadows the river to nearby Donovan Park, or venture only a bit farther into Lionshead and Vail - or for miles and miles in either direction. About Kari Johnson

Our roots are in Minnesota and Nebraska. We now have 3 generations of our immediate family living in and loving the Vail area, a nearly perfect place to enjoy unparalleled cultural, entertainment, sports and recreational activities all year round. As the familiar story goes, we came for one winter, stayed for the summer, and never left! We enjoy sharing our great affordable destination home and this wonderful resort area with others.

Why Kari Johnson chose West Vail

We had been enjoying yearly ski vacations in Vail, and absolutely fell in love with the town and the spectacular mountains. We knew we wanted West Vail for the convenience to local shops and services, away from the noise and night time party atmosphere of main Vail. The scenic recreation path you access right next to the complex makes it easy to walk or bike safely into the village. We invested in Ptarmigan specifically for the prime location, the well managed grounds, parking, and pool/hot tub available on premises. The two level layout of our home works great for us, providing privacy via separation of the living and sleeping areas. The bedrooms are quite spacious compared to other condos we looked into before choosing Johnson Ski House. The quiet, established neighborhood and mature landscaping with large beautiful pines made our decision easy!

What makes this townhome unique

Gore Creek! This iconic mountain stream is visible from the kitchen, dining, and living areas of our home. If you love fly fishing, you can't beat the ready access to prime gold medal water only steps off the patio. The decks allow us to enjoy the outdoors and the relaxing sound of the creek flowing by. The rec path is so convenient for a scenic walk into the village. It's a biker's dream! Our neighborhood feels very safe and "small town," yet fabulous Vail and Beaver Creek amenities are minutes away. (Did someone mention skiing?)

Just Perfect!

I cannot say enough about how perfect the Johnson Ski House is.

So close to Cascade Lift. Bus stop just outside the door. Hot tub was great! Porch out back was comfortable, peaceful, and just lovely. We had many a post-ski day beverage and family chat out there. Kari was wonderful. She even left coffee for us. They had just about everything you needed to feel at home. There were spices, coffee filters, paper goods, and every cooking utensil you could possibly need. Pool towels and all the linens were high quality. Beds were comfortable. Good selection of DVD's, games and books. Directions to everything in the house were accurate and easy to follow. The house is in a quiet area and parking was convenient. Do yourself a favor, stay here on your next trip to Vail!! We loved it!

Perfect clean condo for our family - better than the condo our extended family used in downtown Vail

So glad we booked this condo with easy access to Vail ski area. Being next to the creek was very relaxing. The free Vail shuttle could not be closer to the front door. I really wanted a place where I could appreciate nature during the snow - from the sofa. This was perfect. The main living space looks out to a lovely nature scene. So hard to believe a place like this could have such a great setting AND privacy. Our last night in I had to insist that our family gather at our condo instead of the one in DT Vail so I could soak in every last minute of the creek/snow covered trees. Very well stocked kitchen made it very easy to throw together tasty meals with a few staples from the nearby grocery store - great spices, salad dressings, condiments, and even a parmesan shaker in the fridge. The owner supplied us with coffee and chocolates to welcome us! The beds were very comfortable and blackout shades in the bedrooms guaranteed our child would not wake up too early. Great selection of books/games/movies to keep us all entertained. It is obvious that a ton of thought was put into the furniture - it perfected the space and it was all comfortable and clean. You will not regret staying here. We are already trying to think about when we can go back.

Perfect getaway house in the mountains

We loved our stay!! The home is perfectly cozy and comfortable. We loved the living room with the fireplace, overlooking the creek in the back yard. All the rooms were well appointed, beds were great. They have everything covered off in the house. It was perfect for 4 adults (2 couples) and our baby (and you could fit more!) And they even left us a pack and play and high chair for her, which was extremely useful. The location can't be beat. The bus to vail is steps from the front door, and it's a 5 minute ride to the village. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Vail.

Great Vail Getaway

My husband, son and I just recently spent five days in Vail at the Johnson house. From the minute we walked in we felt at home. Kari had a note and candy on table waiting for us. What a lovely welcome! The house was neat, clean and cozy. Kari has everything you could need ready for us. The beds/bedding and furniture were so comfortable! The views were very beautiful and the setting was peaceful. The washer and dryer were so helpful to have on a ski trip. The bus stop is literally outside the door which made for easy access to and from the mountain. We also enjoyed the hot tub after a day of skiing. We got lucky to get some good snow which made conditions great. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at The Johnson House. Kari was a pleasure to work with. We thank her!!
