Overview

About the property

The perfect place to escape, unwind and enjoy this beautiful area.

Casa Lascorz is a grand old Aragónese farmhouse dating back to 1801. Once an important farming estate, housing the family, local school teacher and farmworkers, the property was vacated in the late 1960s and remained empty until 2016 when it was purchased by your hosts, Ben and Corinna.

The house has been lovingly and sympathetically brought back to life to provide both a welcoming rural guesthouse and a family home. The renovation has been a labour of love and we have taken care to preserve the traditional Aragónese architecture, features and furniture. Original pieces have been incorporated into the décor, providing a unique historical narrative of the building’s past.

Casa Lascorz stands proud once again: balconies brimming with flowers; sunny terraces and cosy arches providing tranquil places to sit and read; views to fill the soul with joy and if you stop and listen for a while….silence.

Awarded ‘superior’ Casa Rural status in 2017, Casa Lascorz offers bright, spacious bedrooms all with modern en-suite bathrooms. All our rooms are bright and spacious, have modern en-suite bathrooms and include toiletries, towels, a television and hair-dryer. Wi-fi is available free of charge throughout the house.

We have two double rooms, listed separately as 'Flor-de-lis' and 'La Iglesia'. Please note: the accommodation is guest house / bed & breakfast style, these are not self-catering apartments.

Rooms:

'La Iglesia' - double room with en-suite bathroom overlooking the terrace with views of both the church of Santa Barbara and the countryside stretching towards the historic town of Abizanda. The room is accessed by a beautiful carved wooden door. Inside, the room retains the original wooden beams, traditional-style patterned floor tiles and incorporates other original materials from the house. The spacious en-suite bathroom includes a modern waterfall shower, toilet and hand basin along with wall-mounted radiator.

'Flor-de-lis' - double room with balcony, en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. The room retains its original antique floor tiles and carved wooden double doors and incorporates beautiful traditional furniture and cast iron radiators. The en-suite bathroom includes spacious walk-in shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.

Guests are also welcome to use communal areas including our private outdoor terrace, garden, breakfast/dining room with traditional Aragónese fireplace and lounge area, complete with comfortable chairs, library of books and log burner (for those romantic winter breaks).

A generous continental breakfast is included. Packed lunches or evening meals can also be ordered in advance. We are more than happy to cater for special dietary requirements including preparation of vegetarian, vegan and gluten/lactose free menus – please ask us for more information and prices.

About Benjamin & Corinna Frost

After many years of dreaming about living near the mountains, renovating an old house and living a more self-sufficient lifestyle, 2016 heralded the start of a new life for us, your hosts Ben and Corinna.

Having sold our house in England, we packed up our belongings and pets and set off for our new home in the pretty village of La Pardina, in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees, to commence the task of renovating the old house. Despite the enormity of our task, we have enjoyed every second of living here.

The area (Sobrarbe) provides the perfect backdrop to indulge our passions: beautiful scenery; outdoor activities; incredible wildlife and great food and wine and we can’t wait to share the secrets of this incredible place with you.

Why Benjamin & Corinna Frost chose La Pardina

This beautiful old Aragónese farmhouse dates back to 1801and was once an important farming estate, housing the family, local school teacher and farmworkers. The property was vacated in the late 1960s and remained empty until 2016 when we bought it. Whilst the house was habitable, it was in need of significant attention to bring it back to life again and this is a challenge we have relished, completing the majority of the work ourselves.

What makes this bed and breakfast unique

Casa Lascorz has been lovingly restored to create a welcoming rural guesthouse and family home.

Awarded ‘superior’ Casa Rural status in 2017, it is the perfect place to escape and unwind. Traditional Aragónese features are combined with modern facilities to provide a comfortable retreat where guests can relax, enjoy and explore this magical area.

You can expect a warm and friendly welcome from the family at Casa Lascorz (Ben, Corinna and our cats and dogs). We will do everything we can to make sure your stay is comfortable and that you are able to enjoy your time in the local area. There’s so much to see and do and we will be happy to provide information about activities/excursions either before or during your stay so that you get the most out of every day.

Spectacular scenery, unique geography and geology, an abundance of flora and fauna and proud local traditions, provides something for everyone, whether you’re an avid walker, bird-watcher, photographer, foodie or extreme adrenalin junkie. Easy access to the National Parks of Ordesa, Sierra de Guara and Posets-Maladeta make this a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Popular activities include: walking, cycling (mountain bike and road cycling), climbing, rafting, canoeing, skiing, canyoning and bird/wildlife watching.

Those looking for more cultural activities will not be disappointed by historic towns such as Aínsa, Alquezar, Graus and Jaca or monasteries such as St Victorian and San Juan de la Pena. The nearby town of Aínsa (20 minutes by car) holds ‘La Morisma’ in September every even year, when the battle between the Moors and Christians is re-enacted. The Castilllo de Aínsa International Music Festival is held in July every year along with other horticultural and farming fairs in February and September. Other events include Punchacubas (local artisan wine tasting) in December, Las Nabatas (making and sailing traditional rafts in the river Cinca) in May along with a host of other fiestas, bonfires and cultural events in the local villages throughout the year.

The nearby Somontano wine region and wealth of local artisan food producers will satisfy the most keen foodies. Most of the wineries are located close to the town of Barbastro (1/2 hour by car) and wine tasting tours are offered by many of the wineries throughout the year.
