Unclean, Safety Issues, Poor Communication
The unit was dirty. Shower had 1/4 bar of soap on floor, so definitely wasn't cleaned. Every drawer had hair and dust matter (?) inside, hair on sheets, hair on headboard, visible dirt on cabinet doors, dirty (food) fingerprints on side of cabinet, food crumbs on settee, filthy dish in with clean dishes, etc. I have pictures of all. I reported unclean unit to emergency number (had to call for WiFi issue - see below) and went to the management company office on Monday to show them pictures. They offered to clean the unit, but we were there with a 5 month old baby, so we had to clean it ourselves on Sat. when we arrived.
Safety issues! Sharp corner on granite counter in bathroom. I dropped by brush and when picking it up, I caught my upper outer arm on the counter which resulted in immediate pain, swelling, large deep bruise and 2 1/2 inch abrasion. Had it been a child's eye or head, it would have been a severe injury.
The last morning there, my adult son went to dump the garbage in the outside bin. After dumping the garbage he turned and the large wooden gate self closed and a nail sticking out, caught his eye area, opening up a approx. 1 1/2 laceration right below his eyebrow. It was wide open and bled profusely. He needed butterfly stiches to close and is still healing - it will scar. After initially attending to him, I immediately called the management company emergency number to report this hazard. To this day we have not received a follow-up call.
No WiFi info (or any folder with unit specific info) in the unit when I arrived Sat. night. I needed to work so this was vital. I called the emergency number and the woman did not have the information. She did find it and called later with possible user name and passwords. We tried a few combinations, and thankfully one worked.
No sofabed (management stated owner replaced it with regular sofa). The inflatable bed (that was to sleep 2) deflated at 4 a.m., the first 2 nights (Sat. and Sun) and had to be refilled. Management notified Monday and purchased another one. I could have rented a less expensive unit with an inflatable bed, but I didn't want to fill daily, so chose this unit because it stated that it slept 6.
This was my family's first family vacation in over 15 years. This rental negatively affected what should have been a fun, relaxing experience - from the first day when we had to clean the unit after a 13 hour drive, until my son's injury right before we left.
new, clean, spacious!
Everything was new and clean! There was plenty of room... Like renting a house! Great price for such a great place!
