Overview

About the property

A barn conversion that sleeps 14 guests in 4 bedrooms

The Barn is a large period barn conversion set on the edge of a farm on the outskirts of the village of Walberton. The property is full of character, with exposed beams and log burners being just two examples of its many features. There is a super farmhouse style kitchen which is well equipped and there is also an impressive dining hall which benefits from having a log burner. There is also a large drawing room, ideal for entertaining, and the galleried landing on the first floor provides extra ancillary sleeping. In all, the accommodation comprises a dining hall, kitchen with breakfast area, drawing room, a ground floor twin bedroom and a ground floor shower room, large galleried landing with further sleeping areas, and three further double bedrooms on the first floor, together with an en-suite bathroom and family bathroom. (Please note, not all beds are in private bedrooms)

There is a very pleasant private courtyard to the rear of The Barn, edged by neighbouring cottages. There is ample parking to the front, which benefits from very pleasant rural views over the farm. There is also a farm walk and dog walk (on lead) from the Barn and deer can sometimes be seen as well as rabbits and Mr Fox as you walk around our 10 acre field. This property is ideal for two families sharing a holiday, or for a business seeking substantial accommodation for events or conferences. There is so much to do in the area, with excellent road and rail links nearby.

(The Barns large ground floor area is for holiday let purposes only and suitable for family and friends to get together. NB Not suitable as a party venue)

Guestbook comments from the manager

" We stayed as the grooms family over my wedding and it was perfect! The house is palatial, the kitchen and living areas were wonderful and spacious; the rooms were great. It was perfect for anyone needing accommodation over Goodwood Festival of Speed weekend. We enjoyed it much more than a hotel and the fact that we were together on our own as a family made the time much more special."

Location

Car: recommended

Walberton itself has a variety of pretty period properties, a useful parade of shops and a picturesque village pond as well as the obligatory village pub. The nearby historic town of Arundel has some fascinating shops along with the internationally famous castle, lovely wetlands wildlife park and a cricket ground where county cricket is played. There is an annual festival which attracts visitors from all over the world. The many attractions at Goodwood, including the Festival of Speed and horse racing is only about 15 minutes' drive and there is also a race course at Fontwell, only 5 minutes' drive away. The cathedral city of Chichester with its varied shopping centre and Festival Theatre is about 15 minutes' drive. Brighton, Portsmouth and London are all easily accessible by rail or car. As well as having access to the downs within a few minutes' drive, the stunning coastline is only ten minutes' drive away, with the beach at Climping nearby. The sandy beach at West Wittering is about half an hour's drive.

Nice Barn shame about the weather

  • 4 of 5

The barn was in good order and clean when we arrived. We had a great time there together as a family. Sleeping on the mezzanine floor was a bit strange and one of the beds was very uncomfortable.

It was well equiped but it could do with a few more glassses . we had to buy extra.

We would recommend it to other families.

Fontwell races where only minutes away but the weather was socold and wet that we did not stay to the end. Bognor and Littlehampton were good for seaside visits while Arundel was of interest to the adults.

We appear to have lost our camera during the holiday. Has it been left at the Barn? It is a small silver camera it a black material carrying case.

Many thanks

Keith and Viv Norman

Stunning property in a lovely country location.

  • 5 of 5

There was a real WOW factor as we went through the front door - the dining area being like an atrium really spacious and light with a log fire central to this room & the lounge. The barn is beautifully furnished, very comfortable and homely. We had a great weekend there and really didn't want to leave that gorgeous log fire!
