|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Aura Favoni is a charming detached holiday house, situated in one of the best locations in West Wittering, on the exclusive Roman Landing private estate. It is very close to Snowhill Creek and Chichester Harbour and is only a short walk from the renowned sandy West Wittering beach, and the sand dunes and natural beauty of East Head, which is owned by The National Trust.
Built in the late 1930's, this attractive house has plenty of character and retains some of its original features, such as latch doors. It is neutrally decorated throughout and offers a very comfortable stay for up to 10 guests (maximum 8 adults). On the ground floor there is a large kitchen/dining room with a Rayburn and a table large enough to seat 10 people easily. Continuing through the kitchen there is a large sitting room, with TV, followed by a light and airy sun room and a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there is the family bathroom, a large master bedroom with a king size bed and ensuite shower room, two twin bedded rooms and a further large family bedroom containing 4 single beds.
The extensive traditional gardens, at the front and the rear of the property, are wonderful to admire as well as to unwind in and are secure for both children and dogs. There is a gazebo in which to sit and relax or dine al fresco, as well as two wooden benches and plenty of garden chairs.
Aura Favoni is a special property in a sought after location. In summer the beaches are the draw, however the area is also extremely popular out of season with walkers and sightseers, as well as bird watchers. It is also a good location for those attending the Goodwood Festival of Speed or the Goodwood Revival.
There is parking for up to 4 cars (depending on size) outside the double garage, however as it is a private estate parking is not allowed on the verges or the road.
Lovely house and garden, fantastic location a stones throw from the fabulous West Wittering beach and East Head.
Our first impression was that the property exceeded our expectations from the photos on the website. The location is stunning; private road, quiet yet very close to a beautiful blue flag beach, with plenty of scope to explore the area on foot and/or bicycle. The house itself is wonderful and an ideal home away from home for a large family and/or friends to get together. The kitchen has a large dining table which comfortably seats 10 - a great setting for numerous games as well as mealtimes where all of our large party aged ranged from 8 - 80 could be together. The property was clean and well maintained and the layout was such that we felt as though we had lots of space both inside and out. My mum particularly liked the conservatory to just relax and read in. The garden was lovely - private and well cared for.
I would not hesitate in recommending this to friends and relatives. We hope to return again next year.
I go away yearly and tend to rent holiday homes out and I can say this easily ranks as one of the best I have been to in recent years.
It has an absolutely stunning garden kept up by the gardener (who me met during the stay). The location is wonderful - out of the way from all the normal traffic on Roman Landing but only a 2 minute trip into the village or 5-10 mins from East Wittering (by car).
West Wittering itself has a paper shop, pub (The Old House at Home) and a few other shops. East Wittering is better for food shopping but more touristy.
Plenty of things to do for everything whether that's sitting on a bench by the see (as my elderly mother did) or grazy golf, crabbing, swimming in the sea, glorious walks, cycling along the Saltern's pathway into Chichester and loads more. Went into Chichester on two rainy days and theres lots to do too.
The house itself is warm with 4 bedrooms and has so much character - the Rayburn in the kitchen is great.
The only drawback is not being able to stay longer!
We stayed from 29th November - 6th December 2010 in the snow.
The first 2 nights we had a friend stay, ended up staying 4 nights, then our family managed to get there on the saturday.
We enjoyed our stay a very comfortable house as I'm used to cooking on a Rayburn, it was home from home.
Lovely being so near Snowshill as we love that point.
Didn't really see any neighbours, but were made to feel very welcome at the Church.
We recommend "The Beach House" for eating out.
West Wittering is famous for its stunningly beautiful landscape and Blue Flag sandy beach, which attracts visitors from all over the U.K. and beyond. It is a favourite destination for windsurfers, but equally families love to "get away from it all" by visiting the lovely child friendly sand dunes. The beach has excellent facilities, including a cafe and ample parking and there is plenty of space for barbecues etc. The village itself has some useful shops and public houses, with more extensive facilities in the nearby village of East Wittering. The beautiful cathedral city of Chichester lies just to the north and is famous for its Roman connections, as well as the Festival Theatre, which attracts some of the world's top actors. It is dominated by the cathedral and its shopping centre has preserved its heritage and character. There is a huge amount to do in the area, from water sports to sight seeing, golf courses, tourist attractions, to horseracing and motor sports at Goodwood. Alternatively, one can just "chill out" and relax in one of the U.K.'s best locations.
