Green Energy, 2 Bed/2 Bath Cabin screened porch Ranch near Lake Bridgeport, TX

When you arrive at the entrance of the ranch, you will find a large eight foot high steel gate with a sign: “Estancia de Lifto”. You enter the ranch using the temporary gate code we provide you in advance of your visit. Please enter and drive south into the ranch on our paved driveway three quarters of a mile south of the entrance to the cabin. You will likely pass several free roaming cattle, calves, and horses. The cabin is located a quarter of a mile south of the main home. The cabin is isolated out of sight from the ranch house and surrounded by trees and nature.

You will be offered a free one hour tour of the ranch. The tour includes the history of the ranch, taking you over several trails, introduction to the horses and feeding them cubes, passing close to the cattle, introduction to the solar production, wild hog operation, and more.

Our cedar two bedroom, two bath modern secluded cabin with central air, central heat, and all of the needed modern conveniences will be waiting for you with a highly rated bottle of red wine. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen sized beds. In the living room is a pull out coach that can sleep two. On the large front screened in porch, is a fold out bed that can sleep one person. The front porch overlooks trees, the fire pit, and includes rockers, cushioned chairs and games. Located in the living room is an electric fire place often used by guests in the winter months.

Included in the cabin is a washer, drier—with Tide pods included, dishwasher, shower, two person hot tub, pots, pans, glasses, silverware, towels, cleaning soaps, hair drier, couch, dinner table with chairs, linens, spices, and two means for brewing coffee. Either use our Kuerig coffee machine with pods included, or use the coffee beans waiting for your in a sealed contained then grind in the electric coffee grinder included, and brew fresh brewed coffee in the morning. Coffee creamer and sweeteners included. We do not charge an additional cleaning fee as do most rental properties. We wash all of the towels, sheets, blankets, pillow cases, etc. Because we are in the country, we ask you to keep the doors to the cabin closed so outside insects, animals, etc. cannot enter. We have a local raccoon named Mapache who occasionally visits the cabin. The cabin is sprayed on a regular basis for insects.

The cabin has two flat screen televisions and DVD player with over 50 DVD’s provided. We use Dish network in the cabin. One TV is located in the master bedroom, and the other in the main room. The DVD player is built into the TV in the living room.

A first aide kit is located in cabin master bathroom for minor injuries. It also has a listing of emergency telephone numbers should you need professional care.

Installed in the cabin is a powerful two channel 5G router that carries a signal throughout the cabin and several hundred feet outside. Though it is satellite internet, we find the signal adequate for multiple uses. Celleular coverage is quite good for Verizon customers, but also functions for other users such as AT&T. We have placed several charger plugs with our power plugs.

Canoe and Paddle boat free to use in the fish pond.

There is a large fenced back yard attached to the cabin. Additionally, if your dog is house trained, you can keep them inside. We only ask that you do not allow the dogs (or cat) on the furniture, beds, nor use the blankets and towels on your pet. Please pick up after your dog. We have a policy to discard any blankets or towels used on pets rather than trying to clean them. A $19 fee is charged for dogs or cats account the cost to us for additional cleaning.

Outside of the cabin is a large fire pit with free firewood, tree swing, horse shoe pits and horse shoes, a picnic table located on a cement slab with a gas propane grill and charcoal grill for your use. There are chairs around the fire pit and a two person swing made by local trees. We provide four long metal sticks with wooden handles to use for marshmallows or hot dogs. Two bikes are provided and kept in front of the cabin. We ask you use them on the paved road or solid trails to protect the tires. Please do not ride them off road—especially over cactus.

Enjoy 125 acres of nature, ranch life, cows, deer, plant life, flowers, deer, rabbits and other wild life. Stroll and pick wild tuna from the prickly pear which can be prepared into a large variety of foods and drinks.

The ranch is about 4 miles from beautiful Lake Bridgeport, with close landings, beach and fishing. The ranch has about three + miles of trails, grazing cattle and horses, wild animals including deer, wild hogs, turkey, coyotes, raccoons, fox, rabbits, armadilos, possems, and more. We have counted over 80 species of birds, including beautiful colored buntings that migrate from Mexico.

Come meet our horses: Campion, Laramie , Sugar, and Valentina. About 20 new baby cattle born in 2018.

ATV’S and OFF Road

ATV's and RTV's are available for rent. We have one RTV that seats four people, another seats two people, and the ATV’s are four wheeled vehicles all automatic. Please check for updated prices. Current ATV price per day is $85 plus $8 for gas. The 4 seater is $135 plus gas, and the two person side by side is $105 plus the cost of gas.

There are a dozen fruit trees planted behind the cabin along with dozens of blackberry bushes. Over 50 pecan trees are on the ranch. Most of the nuts are left for wild life to keep the wild life population healthy and thriving.

You can bring your own ATV for use on the ranch, or to take to the off road park located two miles from the ranch and run by the City of Bridgeport. Use of your own ATV or ours is at your own risk and we assume no liability for personal injury.

Bring your fishing poles. We recommend live worms, chicken livers, grass hopers and/or a trebble hooks with chilled hot dogs for catfish. Close to the cabin on the ranch is a well stocked fishing pond. We restock the pond twice a year with bass, blue gill, perch, sunfish and catfish. The large fishing pond that includes a large fountain for aeration. There is a dock where you can launch our canoe included for your use. Along the pond is a gazebo with electricity, lights, picnic table and rocking chairs. Along the bank and by the dock are other chairs to use while fishing.

May people visit the ranch to use the gun and bow and arrow range. It is a unique feature built into a depression for safety and multiple barriers to protect from stray bullets. The range includes a sighting table with a container beneath used for spent cartridges. We include two bow and arrow square bale targets, metal ping targets, a back board to staple targets for guns, and you can use shot guns while on the range. We no longer provide a skeet thrower account it repeated broke or was damaged.

The range time is limited when open for the protection of ranch workers, and anyone who might be in the area where shooting might occur. If you wish to use the range, you will be asked to have each person using the range to sign the attached safety and indemnification/liability agreement. You are welcome to use the range between 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. If you wish to use the range after or before hours, please discuss with the owner so that we can protect anyone who might be in the area.

If you use the gun range, please pick up your spent rounds and put them in the plastic container under the table.

Bridgeport has over 20 restaurants, a large recreational lake and multiple other attractions for people who visit. For more information about the Bridgeport area, you can visit

We recommend some particular restaurants: Pronto's, Sagebrush open for lunch (M-F), Dos Chiles Grandes, and Stevens Restaurant. If you enjoy Italian food, we especially recommend Pronto's, located off of 380 or 3.5 miles east of the ranch just as you are departing the west end of Bridgeport. They do not serve alcohol, but you can take your own bottle of wine and they do not charge a corkage fee. Also, they provide glasses and a wine bottle opener. The following is the Tripadvisor page on Bridgeport restuarants: The 10 Best Bridgeport Restaurants 2017 - TripAdvisor

If you enjoy Mexican food, Dos Chiles Grandes, 105 Lake Rd, Bridgeport, TX 76426 provides good food and a nice atmosphere. Also, Sagebrush has exceptional soup, sandwiches and salad bar and is open Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (lunch only).

Located about three miles west of the ranch of highway 380 is Lake Bridgeport. The main part of the lake is about five miles across. They have a beach and public landing nearby. There is a store name One Spot that has fishing equipment, worms, minnows, restaurant, gas and more. If you bring your own boat, you can drive across the main body, plus miles of inlets with swimming areas and great fishing. There is a store and boat gas station located on the northwest side of the lake. They also have boat rental.

For the more adventurous types, when the Trinity river that flows from lake Bridgeport is deep enough, you can kayak or canoe much of it. There are stops along the area including a landing located SE of downtown Bridgeport.

POOL: There is a pool with heated hot tub and water slide next to our house 1/4 mile from the cabin. It has a grill, bathroom, 8' stucco wall (see picture on web site). The house cannot be seen from the cabin. This is available for up to 3 hours for $40. It is up to 8' deep (May - Sept). Children must be supervised

Rick Lifto purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Rick Lifto chose Bridgeport

We bought this ranch from the granddaughter of a man who homesteaded this ranch in 1886. The stone house near the gate was originally part of the property. After we rehabilitated it with the intent to start a winery, the neighbors horse pasture was sold and changed the scenery, so we sold the house to a friend and developed the ranch land. As you arrive at the gate, you will have been provided a special temporary code to open the gate.

Or, if you lose the code, just call Rick's cell number which will have been provided.

The entire ranch is run on solar energy during daylight hours. We have a red storage barn for the ATV’s located not far from the cabin covered with 36 solar panels to provide electricity for the cabin. We switch to Oncor during the night. Our home is located ¼ mile out of sight from the cabin. The house and horse barn is powered by a separate array of 136 panels located over the horse barn. Additionally, there is a small solar array directly connect to a deep water well that feeds water to captured hogs, one of the gardens, and over flow for the fishing ponds. In all, the ranch is able to generate in excess of 450 kwh of electricity.

We take great care in our attempts to keep the ranch clean, organic, free of trash, and pollutants.

What makes this cabin unique

Bridgeport has two golf courses with public access. Runaway Bay is located about five miles west on 380 and includes an 18 hold course that includes a driving range, cart rental, and restaurant. Bridgeport Country club is a nine hole course located about five miles east, SE of downtown Bridgeport. It does not have a restaurant, but they do have carts. Both courses have fees less than $50 a round. Check for senior discounts.

There are tennis courts located across from the golf club at Runaway Bay, and one at the High School in Bridgeport.

If you enjoy solitude, modern comfort, yet the ability to enjoy the country, we believe you will enjoy staying here. You can fish in the pond close to the cabin. It is stocked with catfish, perch, bass, and crappie. Each year we add more fish. In December 2017 we added another 1000 perch, sunfish, bass, blue gill, catfish & crappie. You can keep up to 4 fish to eat for each two days at the ranch. If you stay six days, that would be 12 (all in the same day or spread out). Anything five pounds and above does not count in your number.

Bring your horses, and you can use our corral and trails.

Didn't want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

It was amazing! The cabin is fully stocked, extremely clean and comfortable. Rick, the owner, makes everything SO easy. He is very quick to respond to questions but does not intrude at all.

It is very private. It has so much to do already set up for you (horseshoes, GIANT fire pit, private gun range, canoe and more). It is worth it to take him up on the use of an ATV for a minor extra fee. It's close to restaurants should you feel like not cooking. Rick can give you some suggestions and I loved the Rooster's Roadhouse in Decatur. There is literally so much to do that next time I want to stay a week!

The cabin was very nice. It was clean and well stocked with the necessities. We enjoyed the tour of the ranch. We got to feed the horses. There are several cattle that came to to pond in the evening to drink. The pond had several catfish. It was a nice relaxing getaway.

Ranch was well-kept; grasses cut, equipment clean, livestock healthy.

Loved the location. Cabin was comfortable, very clean, and just right for two. Screened front porch was an enjoyable plus. We fished, took advantage of shooting range, and relaxed. Our tour of ranch was informative and fun. We will definitely be back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. We are always looking for ways to make the experience more fun. e.g., today we are painting the horse shoe pit poles white so they can be seen when it starts getting dark, and later this month we plan to put a platform above the pond water source that is better shaded by trees. Hope to see you soon. Best wishes.
