About Jane Black
We live in Atlanta, GA about 2.5 hours from Highlands. We love the Highlands atmosphere and plan to spend more time here.
Jane Black purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Jane Black chose Highlands
My grandparents built a vacation home in Highlands in 1935. I visited during the summer while growing up and the area still feels like 'home'. The sound of the creek is what drew us to this current property.
What makes this Cottage unique
The weather is delightful all summer and not severe very often during the winter. Gardening is easily successful because of the weather.

Rained the entire time and still wonderful!
My wife and I come to Trickledown regularly. Even though it rained every day, there is no place we would rather be. Sitting on the screened porch with blankets enjoying a glass of wine, and listening to the roaring sounds of Big Creek and the rain suited us just fine. There was plenty of fire wood, a well equipped kitchen, and gas grill. Great restaurants and shopping just 3 miles away. Peaceful and well appointed and beautifully landscaped make Trickledown our favorite home away from home and just 2-1/2 hours away from Marietta. The owner is always responsive. Can't wait to return!
Thank you for the positive comments including a positive take on the rain you enjoyed! We are looking forward to your next visit.
Wonderful Relaxing and most comfortable
We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed the home and porch, despite somewhat rainy weather . Had great hikes and especially loved rainbow falls
Hope to be back
From the moment we walked in the door the house was so inviting. A charming house with a lovely screened in porch with sounds of a small creek rushing by. Very relaxing and the hospitality was superb! This was our second stay and we can hardly wait to return!
We love our return visitors and look forward to your second return!
My family loved our stay at Trickledown. The cottage is so charming and well appointed for anything you may need. It is decorated beautifully and is very cozy. There were fresh flowers, a welcome note and soft music playing upon our arrival. No detail is overlooked.
The highlight was hearing the soothing sound of Big Creek on the large back porch. We dined on the porch most nights of our stay so we could enjoy the sound of the creek and watch the fireflies come out at dusk.
The secret gardens were a treat as well as the path down to the creek. The landscaping is beautiful.
We are thankful we were able to stay in such an enchanting location and create priceless memories together. We highly recommend this cottage and hope to return!
We hope you will return in the future. Your description is amazing and I love that you were on the lookout for the fireflys nightly. Thank you for your appreciation of our gardens.
A sublime experience
Our favorite cottage in Highlands...everything is provided for a peaceful and regenerating stay....a beautiful home , a restful porch, and a memorable walk through a natural garden to a rushing stream. Food for the soul.
You are a real poet! Thank you for your feelings about your stay at Trickledown and your beautiful expressions of them.
Loved every minute!
Trickledown exceeded every expectation! A 15 out of a possible 10! So well designed, appointed, landscaped it was a joy to spend time there. I hope to go back soon!
We hope you come back soon! We are humbled by your depiction, yet it is what we want you to experience. We are always trying to think of little additions.
