This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Etowah County, Alabama. The cabin is pre-civil war in construction, it was reconstructed using the old mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits on a private road behind a gate. Secluded is an understatement. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting front porch with a cozy antique swing where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its enormous original stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains two Twin beds and a Queen Bed. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer. One Bathroom Downstairs, with High Efficency Maytag Washer and Dryer. Flat Screen TV with Apple TV/DVD/Inside/outside Stereo/Xbox/Wireless Internet/Dish Network/Central Heat and Air. Master Bedroom overlooks a large elevated back porch and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 6 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There are steps to the fire-pit and picnic area overlooking the river, and steps to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge or sit in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains.

We love the outdoors, and this place we have made our weekend getaway and solace. It exudes peacefulness and was designed to be cozy yet modern in every way, so we could truly relax and be surrounded by nature.

It is Away From it All!
If you wanted a romantic getaway, you could not find a better place.
We had a wonderful time and the cabin was perfect. I wished we could have stayed longer. I can honestly say that we had zero complaints about your place. The view of the river is great. We had everything we might need and more. We were able to eat lunch at the Wildflower, Leigh's favorite place to eat, and it was terrific as usual. Although we have never stayed in Mentone, we often ride motorcycles through the area. Your place is far enough out that there is very little light pollution, so the sky reminded me of childhood when there were very few streetlights polluting the sky.
I have already recommended it to several friends if they wanted to get away from it all, and I'm sure we will be sneaking away again, but maybe next time, for several more days.
Thanks for checking in on us as we had a wonderful time!
This cabin is quaint and well-equipped for a couple or small family. It is very remote and peadeful in the middle of the woods. The closest neighbor can only be seen from the road. By the water, there is not a single sign of a human footprint. The area is drought-ridden right now, so there was no rushing water here or in DeSoto State Park, but there was enough water to still be pleasant to sit by but not for fishing. The cabin is very clean and decorated suitably for a log cabin, but is comfortable and has everything you need. Sitting on the porches or in the hot tub was so relaxing. Only issue that we had was with water pressure, which maybe can't be helped. I would still recommend it highly unless you have long bushy hair! Had a really nice time.
We loved loved loved this cabin! The moment we walked through the door was peace and tranquility. My grandkids thought it was awesome. They wanted to spend one night by candlelight to get a feel of what it was like in the old days. The river behind the river behind the cabin was also a plus. We enjoyed everything about it!
"A slice of heaven" The one word that comes to mind when you open the door is "WOW" If you need peace and quiet this is the cabin. Sitting on deck, listening to waterfall, watching sunrises and soaking in hot tub is the perfect way to unwind! Looking forward to our next trip. The owners written instructions were on spot. Owner really tried to make you feel at home and your trip memorable.
I'm not very good with words but it was amazing. The cabin was gorgeous & the scenery was awesome. I enjoyed the privacy out there. It was very nice to be away from it all. Highly recommended!!!!!
Beautiful property with everything you need. Can't wait to plan a fall visit!
We enjoyed our stay in the antique cabin. We felt at home drivng through the woods on the main road and on the side road to the cabin. We were looking for quiet peaceful country/woods/mountains. Rob presented us with all 3. The cabin greets you with warmth when walking into another era with all of the furnishings to make it feel at home and with all of the modern neccessities at the same time. We hiked down to the river below as well as enjoyed the hot tub and bbq grill. When going into town, we went to the Wildflower Cafe and talked with Moon the owner and several other friendly people. The people of the town are all so down to Earth and welcoming and warm. A man offered us his canoes to take down the river to the waterfall. We got caught in a storm for about 45 minutes but made it back safely. Again everyone is so friendly. It was heaven going back to the cabin and getting showered and warm for a nap. We didnt stay more than 2 nights due to other travel plans, however we plan on coming back to Mentone and will definately stay at Away From It All again. It is a very secure and safe environment. We loved it.
