This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Etowah County, Alabama. The cabin is pre-civil war in construction, it was reconstructed using the old mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits on a private road behind a gate. Secluded is an understatement. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting front porch with a cozy antique swing where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its enormous original stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains two Twin beds and a Queen Bed. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer. One Bathroom Downstairs, with High Efficency Maytag Washer and Dryer. Flat Screen TV with Apple TV/DVD/Inside/outside Stereo/Xbox/Wireless Internet/Dish Network/Central Heat and Air. Master Bedroom overlooks a large elevated back porch and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 6 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There are steps to the fire-pit and picnic area overlooking the river, and steps to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge or sit in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains.

It is Away From it All!
If you wanted a romantic getaway, you could not find a better place.
We had a wonderful time and the cabin was perfect. I wished we could have stayed longer. I can honestly say that we had zero complaints about your place. The view of the river is great. We had everything we might need and more. We were able to eat lunch at the Wildflower, Leigh's favorite place to eat, and it was terrific as usual. Although we have never stayed in Mentone, we often ride motorcycles through the area. Your place is far enough out that there is very little light pollution, so the sky reminded me of childhood when there were very few streetlights polluting the sky.
I have already recommended it to several friends if they wanted to get away from it all, and I'm sure we will be sneaking away again, but maybe next time, for several more days.
Thanks for checking in on us as we had a wonderful time!
This cabin is amazing! Everything you need for a perfect quite and relaxing weekend. Beautiful sights and a awesome hot tub!
My wife and I LOVED our stay here, "Away from it All!" It's a bit off the beaten path, but that did not bother us. It's close enough to town to have convenient access to restaurants and the Dollar General for sundries. The cabin itself combines rustic with modern conveniences. The hot tub is great; one of the best I've seen. The washer and dryer are so good that I jotted down the manufacturer and model number, for when ours need to be replaced.
The hike down to the creek is easy enough, and even during a severe drought, we could here the water trickling from the back porch. I could only imagine how it would sound under normal rainfall conditions. The fire pit area is very cozy, and I enjoyed an evening of star gazing at this clearing. Nearly the entire state is under a burn ban, so we didn't build a fire in it.
The bed in the master bedroom is very comfortable. During the day, we enjoyed the sunshine by opening all the blinds...very cozy.
We've stayed in cabins in Gatlinburg and Mentone for the past 15 years, and this has been our favorite!
The kitchen was small but adequate. The stove and dishwasher are compact, but work well. Good refrigerator/freezer.
We had ZERO cell service, but the cabin's WiFi kept us in touch with family back home via text and social media. Great entertainment center with plenty of channels.
Exactly as shown in photos. Rustic charm with modern conveniences. Private and secluded but only a short drive to Desoto State Park and Little River Canyon. We did not bring a dog but there is a nice fenced dog run accessed directly from the back door. We didn't get to take advantage of the fire pit because of the drought but it was lovely just sitting and enjoying the river overlook. We will definitely be back.
Just in time for Color Fest in Mentone! Really enjoyed sitting at the fire pit area. Chairs were comfortable and the view was beautiful. Unfortunately, the drought kept us from burning, but we still spent a lot of time sitting and enjoying the sounds of nature.
Need to print out directions as advised. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't.
The cabin has new appliances and wifi was great.
This cabin is quaint and well-equipped for a couple or small family. It is very remote and peadeful in the middle of the woods. The closest neighbor can only be seen from the road. By the water, there is not a single sign of a human footprint. The area is drought-ridden right now, so there was no rushing water here or in DeSoto State Park, but there was enough water to still be pleasant to sit by but not for fishing. The cabin is very clean and decorated suitably for a log cabin, but is comfortable and has everything you need. Sitting on the porches or in the hot tub was so relaxing. Only issue that we had was with water pressure, which maybe can't be helped. I would still recommend it highly unless you have long bushy hair! Had a really nice time.
We loved loved loved this cabin! The moment we walked through the door was peace and tranquility. My grandkids thought it was awesome. They wanted to spend one night by candlelight to get a feel of what it was like in the old days. The river behind the river behind the cabin was also a plus. We enjoyed everything about it!
