About the property

4 bedroom, 4 bathroom

Breathtaking views, total tranquility, come enjoy the mountains at their most serene. This home is a 4 bedroom 4 bath log cabin (Montana logs ) The 4th bedroom is a spacious loft over the detached garage . It has a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven and toaster and full bath. The cabin is located on 20 acres just a short distance from downtown Asheville as well as lots of other wonderful attractions. ......Hiking trails and beautiful mountain views...The home is situated down an asphalt 700 foot easy grade (less than 7 degrees) driveway. It's always manageable without a 4 wheel drive unless we get some rare and uncharacteristic ice after a snow melt. It has only happened to us once in 5 years. The Estate is Very Private.. It is Green Cleaned and a solar panel system is in the works. We now accept credit cards. Please inquire directly. .

About DARYL

My name is Daryl. I am a graduate of the University of Florida(Go Gators) I live in Jacksonville, Fl. and divide my time between there, our lake house on Kingsley Lake , and our beautiful cabin in Asheville, NC. In addition to real estate I own an engineering firm. I have 2 college age boys ( UNF)

DARYL purchased this cabin in 2005

Why DARYL chose Asheville Area

After many years of visiting North Carolina ,I chose Asheville for it's eclectic, scenic, mountainous, and pure natural beauty. I also love it's proximity to numerous outdoor activities. I figured that if it's good enough for the Vanderbilts it's good enough for myself and my family. I chose this particular location for it's views , wildlife, mountain stream and hiking trails. It took 2 years to build and I continue to enjoy further improving the property. I have added an organic farm, (new 2 bd 2 br cabin being built here ) a Japanese garden, a fruit orchard and a solar panel system is in the works.

What makes this cabin unique

VERY CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE...THE BILTMORE...AND VARIOUS ATTRACTIONS.....WITH THE NEW CABIN IT CAN BE RENTED AS A 6 BEDROOM RETREAT WITH MAXIMUM PRIVACY ENSURED.

Rented as a wedding venue!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I rented this home for the weekend for our wedding on Saturday. We had approximately 25 guests, and the space worked out perfectly. The weather ended up being a little chilly, but the yard in front of the house was beautiful and still perfect for our ceremony. We decided to hold the reception indoors, and we had plenty of space for everyone to mingle and eat. The house itself was very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this as a vacation spot!! A few things to keep in mind if you rent this as an event space: First, the wifi was very spotty, and the password was in the very back of the guest info book, listed with 3 different wifi passwords which didn't work. Trial and error, but we figured it out eventually. Next, we had a near-crisis on the wedding day when the surround sound system wouldn't work. We called the owner (on the wedding day), who said he couldn't help us because he doesn't live in town. Luckily, my husband managed to get 2, maybe 3 of the speakers working, and we were able to play our ceremony music. To be honest, I feel this should've been tested before our arrival knowing that we were using this as an event space. That being said, I suppose we should've checked on this beforehand. Lastly, there was a lot of miscommunication about the payment due dates. There were discrepancies between VRBO's due dates and the ones listed in our contract. When we noticed this, we contacted Daryl to confirm the due dates, which he clarified. Then, a few months before the wedding, we received an email from Marshall (maybe Daryl's brother?) saying that we were overdue on a payment. We immediately contacted Daryl, mentioned our previous conversation, to which he said he didn't handle the payments because he lives out of town.... So then we made the payment and emailed his brother, to which we received no response, no explanation, no apology for the confusion... but he was happy to take our money before the contracted date. In the end, it all worked out. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, the house fit in perfectly with our woodsy mountain themed wedding, and it was wonderful to have Friday to set up all of our wedding decor. If you're booking this spot for a wedding/event, just be sure you go over all the important details ahead of time. Live and learn, I guess!!

Incredible location!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a must stay! Daryl was very helpful since the day we booked. The property is amazing with lots of space. Has a small creek that runs through the side, when burning a fire listing to the water flow extremely relaxing. The cabin it's self is very spacious with lots of room to enjoy. I highly recommend this location!

I'm the person who stayed at this cabin September 10-13 and everyone with me had a fantastic time. From the moment I booked with Daryl my entire experience was wonderful. He was so helpful and answered all my questions. The cabin was gorgeous! It was so cozy and had plenty of room. The kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking utensils and we had everything we needed. The grill worked perfect outside also. The property was tucked away and well kept. We even took advantage of the pear trees :) we took taxis and uber into Asheville without a problem. And definitely visit burntshirt winery too! my only complaint is I didn't get to see a bear! We hope to come stay in the future. Thank you Daryl!! 5 star

Great Escape!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a long weekend stay with 10 girlfriends and a grand time was had by all! Extremely spacious and well appointed cabin on a beautiful property. Easily accommodated 11 ladies, with plenty of space to stretch out or gather in one spot. Loved the fire pit, and the tree swing in the woods. Easy drive back and forth to shoe shopping and Blue Ridge Parkway hiking! Water pressure in showers could have been a bit stronger, especially when multiple showers were going at once, but definitely not a big issue. Would recommend to others with no hesitation. Owners terrific to work with; we will return!
