We live in downtown Chicago. We first visited the panhandle in 1998 and fell in love with the area. We decided to buy a house here and did so in 2000. We completely rehabbed the place down to the studs. and added 685 Sq. Ft. We hope you will fall in love with The Forgotten Coast like we did
Robert Stoica purchased this house in 2000
We were looking for a place to getaway from it all. We live in one of the largest cities in the US, so a small town looked great to us. It's nice to sit back and watch the world go by. We still get excited when a pod of Porpoises swim by or an Osprey drops out of the sky in front of you and catches a fish.
Beautiful quiet beaches, nature abounds, fantastic fishing right out side your door. Easy access to fresh seafood. Apalachicola has some very good restaurants.
This was a wonderful way to spend a relaxing Thanksgiving at the beach before the BIG FSU vs. UF football rivalry. The pictures were exactly like this beautiful home.
I was hesitant about this Labor Day rental as Hurricane Hermine made landfall the day before, very close to David's property. Everything went great and you will enjoy the spectacular location and ambience of this rental. The owner was super helpful and the caretaker who lives next door was kind and friendly. We ate in mostly and the kitchen is well appointed. The town of Apalachicola is only 20 minutes away and it is old Florida at its best. Cute shops, great food and nice people. If you like fishing, the Robinson guide service is top shelf and you won't be disappointed with beauty of the bay, the gulf and the surrounding Natural wildlife preserve. This is a place not to be missed.
We loved staying at this vacation home. The house is very clean and nice and really welcoming.
Its location is perfect as it's in an area with a rustic feel yet right on the Gulf of Mexico.
Perfect for those who want Florida minus the tourist crowds.
The nearby St. George Island offers incredible beaches and the little village of Apalachicola has surprisingly good dining spots and both are must visit.
This is a very modern beach house conveniently located between town of Carrabelle and Apalachicola. Extremely well equipped kitchen for those who want to cook. Great restaurants close by in Apalachicola and on St. George's Island. House very well appointed with wifi, large tvs, dvds, washer/dryer, etc. Panoramic view of Gulf with large decking, and extremely bright and light inside! Can't miss the sunrises and sunsets! Is located right on Hwy 98, but is not in a busy area, with woods across the road. We did not have a "walking" beach while we were there...probably due to tides at this time of year, but there is a nice public beach one mile east where you can park and walk.
Owners are totally accessible for any questions.
This beautiful home was the best vacation spot I've had the pleasure to spend my time in! The house itself has such character. Great ocean view, big wrap-around balcony, lots of space inside, very clean and comfortable! The owners do a great job keeping up this lovely place and they are always accessible should you need them. And the kitchen was fantastic--all the utensils I needed to cook breakfast every morning and dinner on the evenings we didn't go out to eat! There was lots to do on the water and private beach--fishing, kayaking, sea creature watching, swimming and beach-bumming to name a few. Also, this house is very close to Apalachicola, St. George Island and the inner town of Carabelle (lots of great restaurants, bars, bait shops and other shopping all around). For anyone interested in just relaxing indoors, there is wifi, cable, movies and CDs that the owners keep in house. The view of the sunrise and sunset from the deck is breathtaking. I think that anyone who gets to stay at this location is incredibly lucky. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!
A perfect get away for those who are looking to relax and have a stress free vacation. My family stayed here (4 adults and 2 small children) for Spring Break and we enjoyed the comforts of the home and the surrounding area. Their kitchen is stocked with everything you'd need to make meals in while the area is home to some delicious seafood restaurants in Carrabelle, St. George's Island, and Appalachicola.
Waking up to the sun rising over the Gulf while listening to the sea gulls and sipping tea on their deck is one of my favorite memories. Area beaches are close and perfect for hours of fun in the sand. Carrabelle Beach is right down the road while St. George Island has bike rental opportunities, miles of sandy beaches, a state park, and a great beach side restaurant - The Blue Parrot.
This house has everything you'll need for a great relaxing vacation...great kitchen, 3 spacious bedrooms with views of the gulf, a loft, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer, kayaks, enormous deck with grill, and fantastic private beach to hunt for hermit crabs, take a walk, make sand castles, or just relax while watching for dolphins to swim by.
