About Kathy Case

I'm an avid gardener.....a gardening 'Geek', I believe it's called! I lived in Seattle until age 15, then moved with my family to Port Townsend. After graduating in 1967, I moved back to the city. As I got older, I dreamed of moving back to this area, longing for a slower, and more beautiful, environment. Fortunately, it happened, and I now enjoy having my family, who have grown up in this area, come for holidays and/or play times on the beach. Each Easter since the year 2000, we have an egg hunt on the large grounds, and have been lucky enough to dodge the rain every year but one. This area has only 18 inches average of rainfall per year.....much less than the city!

Kathy Case purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Kathy Case chose Port Townsend

This property was passed down to me, and I truly appreciate living here. As well as living right here in the middle of nature between Port Townsend and Sequim, it is easy to enjoy the many holiday and festival celebrations these towns celebrate every year. I especially love the holiday teas at Port Townsend's Victorian mansions. Hood Canal is also close by, and I especially like to visit Mt. Walker......it actually has a view of Seattle!

What makes this cottage unique

My home, and the vacation studio, is located less than 10 feet from the water's edge. Facing west, there are beautiful sunsets as well as stormy scenes, a wide variety of cloud formations, fog, rainbows, moon and stars, and yes, sometimes just a moody gray atmosphere.......but even that is romantic! And never boring.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely time and really enjoyed your seaside cabin. You do a really good job. Thanks for the offer to hang out longer on Sunday. We went to the Dungeness Spit and had a beautiful exhilarating walk with a rainbow that lasted the entire time!

Cute cottage, beautiful grounds!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two nights and absolutely loved our time here. We walked the rocky beach both days and found all sorts of goodies! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, Kathy has spent a lot of time tending the flowers and gardens, and it definitely shows! We loved walking the grounds and beach with our morning coffee. Short drive to Port Townsend and we also drove to ONP while we were there. There's plenty of other places to stay, but this cannot be passed up if you're looking for peace, tranquility or beauty! (And the bed is comfy too!!!!) Thanks Kathy for the great place to stay and for the coffee too! If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely stay again!!!

Owner's Response: You two are a great couple, and it is a pleasure to know how much you enjoyed seeing the beauty that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer! Maybe some day I will tour "your side" of the states. I hear it is beautiful also. Thanks so much for the compliments! It's always good to know that my efforts helped make your trip a good one.

Second visit, perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My second stay, husband’s first. Perfect!!!! The cottage is cozy and Kathy is a dream hostess. As a writer I find the view inspiring and it’s central location between towns is great for dining out and exploring. I would recommend this over a hotel any day!!!

Owner's Response: It was great to have you here again, this time with hubby. You probably enjoyed showing him all the sites around this beautiful area! I loved your book, and am waiting to hear of the new one's release. Good luck...I am sure it will be worth the read. Thanks again for the 2nd stay. Hope to see you again some time, Kathy

eggsactly what we were hoping for

  • 5 of 5

It's the first little holiday we've had without family ever.

Kathy was the sweetest. She keeps this place perfectly clean and orderly. Everything so well done.

Mostly the proximity to the water, it really was all we wanted. The building is a heritage piece. Trees are just in the right places. Landscaping just fantastic.

State parks close at dusk we know that now...

We're coming back next year!

Cozy place in a lovely--and strategic--location.

  • 4 of 5

Strategic location for tourist & nature-seeking forays into Ports Townsend, Ludlow, etc, as well as south along Dabob Bay and Hood Canal, and especially West to Sequim, Port Angeles, & a bit beyond. The room is small, but nicely designed to support a comfortable stay. Kathy is attentive, never intrusive, and fun to talk with.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Kathy has created a magical, cozy space and environment for her guests. I needed a quiet spot for some rest and relaxation and this was perfect! Super comfy bed, clean as a whistle and the perfect setting right on Discovery bay! Small comforts provided like extra pillows, blanket, towels and fans (much appreciated) - even binoculars. Description is 100% accurate. It's small so best for 1 person or a couple. I brought all my own food, used the mini fridge and made tea every day (provided) but splurged on a seafood dinner in Port Townsend (many great restaurants to choose from). Kathy was quick to respond to my request. All transactions and communication was rapid and easy. Don't miss the photo album with fun pics of all the critters that have visited the cottage and her yard - so sweet! The only challenge visitors will have is whether to stay all day, lounging on the deck and gazing out onto beautiful Discovery Bay or exploring Olympic Peninsula and the quaint Port Townsend. I chose a bit of both! Either way you won't be disappointed!

Great little cottage getaway

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Accommodations and location were ideal, and our host was very gracious when we needed to borrow a few kitchen supplies. I would stay here again--it's a perfect quiet getaway spot, and still affords opportunities to explore the town of Port Townsend and nearby state parks, within driving distance.
