About Kathy Case

I'm an avid gardener.....a gardening 'Geek', I believe it's called! I lived in Seattle until age 15, then moved with my family to Port Townsend. After graduating in 1967, I moved back to the city. As I got older, I dreamed of moving back to this area, longing for a slower, and more beautiful, environment. Fortunately, it happened, and I now enjoy having my family, who have grown up in this area, come for holidays and/or play times on the beach. Each Easter since the year 2000, we have an egg hunt on the large grounds, and have been lucky enough to dodge the rain every year but one. This area has only 18 inches average of rainfall per year.....much less than the city!

Kathy Case purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Kathy Case chose Olympic Peninsula

This property was passed down to me, and I truly appreciate living here. As well as living right here in the middle of nature between Port Townsend and Sequim, it is easy to enjoy the many holiday and festival celebrations these towns celebrate every year. I especially love the holiday teas at Port Townsend's Victorian mansions. Hood Canal is also close by, and I especially like to visit Mt. Walker......it actually has a view of Seattle!

What makes this cottage unique

My home, and the vacation studio, is located less than 10 feet from the water's edge. Facing west, there are beautiful sunsets as well as stormy scenes, a wide variety of cloud formations, fog, rainbows, moon and stars, and yes, sometimes just a moody gray atmosphere.......but even that is romantic! And never boring.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely time and really enjoyed your seaside cabin. You do a really good job. Thanks for the offer to hang out longer on Sunday. We went to the Dungeness Spit and had a beautiful exhilarating walk with a rainbow that lasted the entire time!

Cute cottage, beautiful grounds!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two nights and absolutely loved our time here. We walked the rocky beach both days and found all sorts of goodies! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, Kathy has spent a lot of time tending the flowers and gardens, and it definitely shows! We loved walking the grounds and beach with our morning coffee. Short drive to Port Townsend and we also drove to ONP while we were there. There's plenty of other places to stay, but this cannot be passed up if you're looking for peace, tranquility or beauty! (And the bed is comfy too!!!!) Thanks Kathy for the great place to stay and for the coffee too! If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely stay again!!!

Owner's Response: You two are a great couple, and it is a pleasure to know how much you enjoyed seeing the beauty that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer! Maybe some day I will tour "your side" of the states. I hear it is beautiful also. Thanks so much for the compliments! It's always good to know that my efforts helped make your trip a good one.

The best of both worlds

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Kathy's Place. The cottage was small but comfy, and the location was wonderful. We could quickly get into town to take advantage of all Port Townsend has to offer, but we also enjoyed the peacefulness of our own private deck on the water and getting away from it all.

Beautiful property with a cute cottage that sits steps from the bay.

  • 5 of 5

Kathy's place was perfect for our 3 days at Discovery Bay. The view is so serene and peaceful. We enjoyed our mornings and evenings on the deck. It was the perfect place for breakfast or for a nightcap. The cottage doesn't have a kitchen, but it has a mini fridge and microwave so it's handy for breakfast and making picnic lunches. Port Townsend is 15 minutes away and has lots of yummy food and great shops. We came to explore the Olympic National Forest and it did not dissapoint! We certainly enjoyed our stay! Thanks Kathy!!

We loved our stay!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely vacation we had! The setting is gorgeous. We loved sitting on the deck, over the water at high tide. We began every day with coffee and breakfast on the deck. One morning, a friendly deer trotted down the beach to say hello. After our days spent hiking or kayaking or biking, we spent every late aftenoon and evening on the deck, enjoying the beauty. The cottage is charming, newly refinished on the inside, beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and spotless. It is tiny, but the view from the bed takes in the whole bay. We also enjoyed the delightful gardens that surround the cottage. Kathy is a perfect host-- helpful, welcoming, and also not intrusive. She provided so many extra touches in the cabin that made our stay so comfortable, even including real cream for the coffee.
